Chapter 15
“New Slough,” said Dom. “Why is that familiar?” He glanced over at Kiko, who was suddenly on his phone, texting with a frown on his face.
“It’s only, like, a town or two over from Mount Angus,” said Chad. “The nurse said they all came over here, like literally an entire restaurant’s worth of peeps.”
“It’s familiar,” said Kiko without looking up, “because that’s where Beverly’s from.”
Dom remembered now. Beverly had said it herself, earlier this morning, when he’d turned in his pie. She was irritated with Joy and Briana still, and touchy about her own job as a waitress. Two and two clicked for Dom and he glanced over at Kiko.
“He said it was weird because they were like, sure they got literally all of it under control,” said Chad, talking louder now like he wasn’t happy Kiko
