Chapter IV

Flame "Shut the door!" my jaw was on the floor as Landon opened the door o my room and we stepped inside. "This is my bedroom?!" my voice went up to a high pitched tone and a laugh escaped his lips. "Guess you like it," he said with a smirk turning his head to look at me. I must admit that my family had money. A lot of it but we weren't exactly millionaires. Mostly because my father's company started failing only a few years after he established it, but as much as I hated him for not spending time with us when he should have I admired how he kept on fighting for his dream, not only for himself but also for me and my mother. I knew he cared about us, but he had his way of showing it. Still, I was mad for putting a year of my life as a prize in a game. Anyway, what I want to say with that is that our house was great, but it wasn't a mansion and it wasn't near as luxurious as Mr. Wolf's (compared to our house) castle.  The walls of my room were a dark brown color. The king-size bed was positioned in the center, dressed in red sheets and there was a big window with two doors leading to a terrace on the right side. There were two doors, one I assumed leading to a private bathroom and one to the closet. I was in awe when a low voice ripped me out of it. "I think you should shower and get some rest. There are some clothes in the closet as well." he paused and took a deep breath, scratching the back of his neck. "I mean, most are my T-shirts and stuff, since I didn't know what size you wear," he said then putting his arms up like he was defending himself. "But they are comfortable and you can have them, I don't need them back." he smiled at the end. He looked nervous which amused me. He didn't act like the big, bad wolf I made him out to be (mind the pun), he was ... caring?  "Anyway, we'll talk about the contract tomorrow morning over breakfast." He walked out the door and then stopped men his tracks and cleared his throat. "Also, there is a gala the day after tomorrow that you'll have to attend with me," he said and before I could answer he walked next door, into what I assume is his bedroom.  ... Three knocks on the door woke me up from my slumber. I groaned and turned around grabbing my phone to look at the time. "Flame, wake up, breakfast is ready." I was shocked to hear Landon's voice waking me. "And get up fast, I have to go to work and we still have to talk about the deal," he said in a low husky voice before hearing his footsteps indicating that he walked away. I groaned, turning to lay on my back looking up at the ceiling. "Let's take a shower," I say to myself, slowly standing up from my bad and walk toward the bathroom. After a quick shower, I get dressed in some high waisted blue jeans and a grey crop top with white vans. I pull my hair into a high ponytail and head downstairs to the dining room, before realizing I had no idea where it was. I stood in the middle of the staircase looking around me confused as to what I should do now. Call for help like a damsel in distress or roam around the house trying to find the dining room, risking making Landon mad at me? Suddenly I felt a pair of warm hands on my hips, making me turn around and face Landon. A gasp escaped my lips realizing how close our faces were. "Looks like you're a bit lost," he says with a grin on his face. I gulp and nod, not able to actually get any words out of my mouth. "C' mon, before the pancakes get cold," he says smiling, then placing his hand on the small of my back leading me downstairs to the dining room.  The smell of pancakes, bacon, eggs, and coffee hit me hard as we stepped into the room. A glass table stood in the center of the room, six white modern-looking chairs standing around it. The room was white with a few green plants and a glass-window wall that was facing the city. The view was beautiful since the mansion was on a hill which allowed us to see the whole city. I blinked a few times before sitting down next to Landon, who has already started to eat his breakfast that was neatly prepared on his plate (mine was prepared as well). "Who prepared this?" I ask wondering if he has any housekeepers around.  "I did," he said hen took a sip of his coffee. My eyes widened at his statement. "What?" he looked at me with amusement, "Didn't think I could cook?" he said, then placed a piece of the pancake that was on his fork in his mouth with a smirk. "Uh, yeah.. I mean, you just don't seem like someone who does." I looked down at my plate playing with the scrambled eggs on it. "I don't like strangers in my house." "Am I not a stranger?" I look up at him. "No," he says, putting the cup of coffee on the table. "You're a business deal," he says deaths seriously. I couldn't deny the fact that his words stung. I looked back down at my plate. "Anyway, I have to leave soon, so let's get straight to the point. You'll have to play my girlfriend for the next year. Means, you'll have to go with me to events, parties, sometimes even business meetings and of course dates." I choke on the piece of bacon I just put in my mouth at the last word. I cough a few times before I look at him with shock in my eyes. "Dates?!" "Yes, the media will be all over us so we have to make this look real. Since I already told you about the gala tomorrow, I want you to get a dress today. My close friend and stylist Diana will come around in an hour and take you shopping. I believe you'll get along." with the last sentence he stood up, took his plate, smiled at me and walked away. "Well damn," I say to myself and start eating once again. At least the food is great, who would have thought he cooked it.
