Flame
“I hope you don’t mind I let myself in.” A female voice ripped me out of my comfortable slumber on the couch into which I fell watching some trashy TV. I hear the clicking of high heels getting closer to me and as I look up I am greeted with big brown eyes. “My name is Diana, but I think Landon already told you that.” She smiled at me showing her pearly whites.
She had brown hair almost chestnut-colored, yet it was a little lighter than that. She had full eyebrows and was pretty tall and lean. She had long legs and overall looked like every mans dream woman.
"Yeah, uh I'm Flame." I sat up on the couch. "I know silly." she giggles and walks towards me than sitting down beside me. "I was thinking we could go shopping and have some lunch together. Then I can help you get ready tomorrow!" with that, she took my hand ad dragged me outside and into her car. In just a matter of seconds, we were driving off in her red Ferrari. A little while later we arrived at a very expensive looking mall. Which was of course owned by no other than Landon Wolf.
...
"Oh hell to the no!" Diana exclaimed as I stepped out of the changing room. "Was the designer high whiles creating this piece of pure awfulness?!" she had a look of pure disgust plastered over her face, which made me giggle. "I don't really think this is a matter over which you can laugh." she crossed her arms over her chest. "But you do you." she rolled her eyes and sighed. "I think we need a different approach." she stood up and rubbed her chin as if deep in thoughts. I raised an eyebrow at her not knowing what she was getting at. "Well, I know that Landon's favorite color is royal blue." she turned around, her back facing me. She started to look around the store before pointing her finger out to a section with a long blue gown on display. "Oh yes, jackpot honey!" I looked at the dress and I could feel my self-confidence decrease. It was a tight mermaid dress with a sweetheart neckline. "Yeah, I don't think so..." I said bitting my lip and taking in a deep breath. "Well, I think hell yes! You've got a bomb body! You'll look delicious." with that she practically ran to the dress, grabbing I than running back to me, pressing it into my hands and pushing me back into the dressing room almost making me fall on my ass.
"Oh my god! This is definitely the dress! I could cry that's how beautiful you look!" she was circling me and being dramatic. I crossed my arms over my chest and looked at her expressionless. "Stop with the face, it ruins the look." she let her hands fall to her sides and looked at me in disappointment. "Have you seen the price of this thing?!" I say fiddling around my neck to find the price tag. Finally touching it I pull it out and show it to her. "Who would buy a dress from almost 5000$?!" Diana rolled her eyes at me. "Landon is your man and he wants you to look good. Plus, money is so not a problem for him." I sighed and rubbed my eyes seemingly exhausted from the day. It was already four p.m. and we still had to find shoes and some accessories. "So that's a wrap for the dress, next stop shoes." she clapped her hands before pushing me back into the dressing room to change. 'When did my life take this kind of turn?' I thought to myself even though I knew the answer.
...
We were sitting in her Ferrari in front of Landon's house. it was already eight p.m. "Well today was fun!" she faced me and smiled. "Yeah, it really was!" I said back with a huge smile. I really did enjoy myself today more than I initially thought I would. I was never one of the girls who enjoyed shopping. I was always dreading the thought of having to go into so many different shops, carrying around all the shopping backs, and let's not mention the exhaustion and painful feet. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow at noon." "A noon?!" my eyes widened "Well, perfection takes time." I shook my head before I realized that I had no idea at what time the gala would start. "At what time is the gala anyway?" I ask looking in front of myself to the rose bushes that were illuminated by little lights that were placed around them. "At six," "You think we will need half a day to get ready?" I looked back at her with a puzzled expression. "Duh, hell yes I think so. You're Landon's girlfriend all the attention will be on you, you need to look and act perfect." Oh great, just what I wanted to hear. "Are..." I cleared my throat. "Are there going to be paparazzi?" I asked and she obviously could see my struggling expression. "Oh honey, of course, there will be. They already know about you and they'll want to get a glimpse of you." I raised an eyebrow "Okay, more like a thousand pictures and probably a few interviews not just a glimpse." she said rolling her eyes. I sighed. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew what was awaiting me when I signed that contract, but still. I liked my privacy, but that wasn't even what phased e the most. I was scared that I would f**k up and embarrass not only myself but Landon as well. I could mess up business deals for him if I didn¨t act the right way, and I definitely did not want to do that. "Oh, c'mon not again with the sad face. everything will be fine, you'll do amazing, you'll see." Diana ran her hand up and down my arm and it made me relax. "Yeah, maybe you're right." I sighed and opened the door to step out of the car. "Honey, I'm always right, and don't you forget that. Now get in the house and get ya man!" she practically yelled at me with a playful voice and I shook my head with a smile on my lips. I only knew what was really going on.
I swiftly closed the passenger door and before I knew it she was speeding off into the night. I took a deep breath of the cool night air before turning to face the mansion I was living in. "Here goes nothing," I said to myself, picking up the shopping bags that I had placed at my feet and walking towards the main entrance.
