Where Sleep Takes You

2019 Words
Lilly POV    Sighing, I sat down in my father’s plush Leather chair. For an office chair, it sure was comfortable. I began glancing around the desk as if it somehow held the answers to my problem. Maybe there was a sticky paper at the top of one drawer with the code on it, like in the movies. I opened up the wooden drawers to his desk and began feeling around, looking for something. After I thoroughly checked the last drawer I almost gave up, but then I noticed something that caught my eye on the wall. There was a painting of my parents on the wall. Someone painted it before I was born and hung on this wall as long as I could remember. The Family portrait hung in the main hall, but my father always kept this one here in his office. The painting took place here in the mansion, but what was odd was the wall in the portrait's background. It looked as if directly behind my father’s right shoulder was a small door in the wall. It could just be how the painter painted it, but something told me it wasn’t. There were so many rooms. I tried to remember if my father ever told me which one they painted it in. I ran up to my father’s suite now, remembering he said it was in the main suite shortly after he and my mother married. When I turn the handle I sigh, it’s locked, but I have a key. It was only in case of an emergency when he went out of town on business, and well, this was an emergency. I needed to find out more about The Angel of Death, and it seemed this may be a good start since I couldn’t get into the safe. I looked around the room, trying to figure out where exactly the painting happened. After about an hour of searching his room, I nearly gave up when I felt an area of the wall that seemed to have more paint on it than the rest. I was sure this was the spot, but I didn’t know how to see what was behind it without tearing up the wall. Whatever was here before is hiding well. Sighing, I took out my camera and took a picture of the area so I would remember easily where it was. It might upset my father if I destroyed his wall. Maybe I could find some information on the internet. The internet was chock full of information, though it was hard to decipher what was true and what was not. Some stories called him Azazel and other Sammael. I even found one that said he was really the Devil. I shuddered at that. It was getting late, and I’d spent most of the day searching for what seemed to be nothing. I hadn’t been able to get into his safe and had no way to get behind his wall, and the stuff I found just confused me more. I turned off my laptop and got ready for bed. The sound of my phone ringing made me jump. I looked at the number and it was my father. “Hello” I answered “Lilly, It’s me. I have been so busy getting updates, I haven’t been able to check on you yet.” My father said. “I’m fine, father,” I replied. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there and I should have listened to you.” My father said solemnly. “It’s okay, I know you didn’t mean for this to happen. We will just be more careful.” I sighed. I knew my father felt bad that he did not heed my advice and I would not rub it in. “I’ve sent back half of those with me, they should arrive by morning.” My father said. “When will you be returning?” I asked him. “I have asked for an early leave and should be returning in a few days’s time.” He said. I debated asking him for the code to the safe. I didn’t want him to suspect anything or question why I wanted it. Suddenly an idea came to me. “Father, I would like to put some things in the safe for safekeeping could you give me the code?” I asked him. “Which one, I have several safes?” He asked. “The one in your office,” I answered. “That one hasn’t opened in so long, it’s actually your Grandfathers. I never use it. I can give you the code to the one in the library.” He said. Just my luck he wouldn’t give me that code, but I just may be able to con it out of my Grandfather. He gave me the safe code, and I wrote it down. We talked a minute more and hung up. I feel tired, so I laid back down and went to bed. ************************** There was fog everywhere, and I somehow knew I wasn’t alone. I wasn’t sure what this place was perhaps it’s a dream. When I blinked my eyes, it sometimes looked like pixels forming before my eyes. It seemed to resemble the clearing outside the pack house, yet it was so different, much more bland and dark. I began walking forward and could hear whispers and buzzing in my ear. I stopped and looked around but saw nothing. I thought my heart would stop when I turned back around and could see dense dark figures like shadows all around me. They were whispering and buzzing, but I couldn’t make out what they were saying. I looked around for a way out, but saw none. I tried to will myself awake, sure it was all just a dream, but when I opened my eyes, I was still there.  Many of the shadows got closer, and it felt like they were in my head. I felt weak, and I just wanted to rest. I saw a rock up ahead and thought it would be a great place to lay and rest. As I walked forward, the noises in my head grew louder making it hard to concentrate. I tried to concentrate on pushing them out. It seemed to work because the shadows began to move back one by one. I pushed forward now that I gained a bit of my energy back and saw a shadow, but this one was different. It had a red light emanating off of it. It scared me. Whatever it is, didn’t look friendly. It suddenly flew towards me in rapid speed, and I panicked. Thunder erupted from the sky, and I looked up and saw a huge Dragon appear. The shadow being stopped in its tracks as the Dragon swooped down on it. I jumped back. I knew I should fear the Dragon, but somehow I felt much safer. It landed near me on the ground. Its eyes are a crystal blue-green. Its body is all white, except for its wings they are blood red. It mesmerized me, and I couldn’t break the stare. Right before my eyes the Dragon morphed and turned into a man, not just a man really it was The Angel Of Death and he is naked before my eyes. “What are you doing here?” He said. “This is just a dream, I shouldn’t have been looking up stuff,” I said to myself. He laughed at me. I was so sure I was dreaming, and that meant I could do anything I wanted to him. I walked towards him and boldly put my hand on his chest. My fingers felt on fire, and electricity shot through my fingertips to my body as I rubbed my fingers along his bare chest. He grinned. “Lilly, I assure you this is not a dream,  and this is a dangerous place.” He said. Surely this was a dream, I remember very clearly going to sleep, I thought. He pulled me to him, and I shuddered at his touch. Would I be shuddering in a dream? I had to ask myself. I was starting to wonder. “You only have to ask for me and I will come, never come here again.” He whispered, making me moan at his hot breath on my neck. “So this isn’t really a dream?” I said still unsure. “No, I’m not sure how you got here, but you can’t come back again. I told you if you want me that bad, all you have to do is summon me.” He winked, a mischievous grin on his sexy face. “How would I do that? I mean to summon you, not that I want to.” I said. “You could just call me by one of my many names, you know how to use the internet, I assume look one up. I warn you though, only summon me if you are ready to give yourself to me. I will give you nothing but pleasure in return.”  “I told you already there is no way you are my mate,” I said, gaining back my sanity. “You are right, I am not your soul mate. I am The Angel Of Death, and no woman will ever tie me down. I know nothing of love, only death, destruction, and pleasure of course.” He smiled. Perhaps somehow this was real, and I could ask him about Beta Mark. It was worth a try. “What about my Beta, you didn’t kill him, and he saw you? Please promise me you will not come for him later.” I said. “First off, I don’t generally do the killing, I only come to collect the souls of those who are dying or dead. Your Beta will live until he dies, and it will not be of my hand, that I can assure you. The real question you want to know is if I will somehow use this to my benefit?” He said as he looked into my eyes. “Will you?” I said. “No, this isn’t something that has really happened before, and I still do not understand why you could see me.” He said. “I don’t believe you, but maybe you can tell me why my father has information on you?” I rolled my eyes. “What do you mean?” He asked, raising his eyebrows. “I heard he keeps information on you in his safe, though I don’t know the password,” I said. Maybe I shouldn’t have told him that he may try to somehow get the information before I could see it. “That is most interesting, but I really don’t know,” he said. “I bet, I’m sure you are a well-known liar,” I said. “I have nothing to lie about, you however are lying to yourself.” He said  “I am not,” I shouted. He pulled me into him and lifted my chin up, looking into my eyes. My knees grew weak, and I tried to use all my will to stand straight. “Tell me, Lilly, Tell me you don’t feel attracted to me, and that right now you don’t wish that we are in each other’s arms naked making mad passionate love.” He whispered. “I thought you said you know nothing of love,” I challenged, avoiding his question. “I know nothing of being in love, though I know how to make love very well.” He grinned, and I hated what his grin did to me. “Making love is for people who are in love, other than that it is just s*x,” I said. “Very well, then tell me you don’t wish we were having hot steamy s*x right now. Tell me you don’t want that. Because you know it would be a lie,” He said. I had no reply. I tried to think of an answer but couldn’t. I knew if I didn’t leave here soon, I would lose my virtue, I was saving myself for my mate, and it was clear it wasn’t him. “I’m saving myself, you know, for my mate, the man who will love me and, I him,” I said. He sighed and pushed me away, making me stumble back. “You must go back now, Lilly,” He said. I tried to protest, but it was too late. I found myself back on my bed at home. I tried to move, but I feel stuck. I panicked. I couldn’t move my body it felt like someone was holding me down. I tried to speak but could not. After I struggled to move and speak for a few moments, I could finally move. I sat up in my bed, scared to go back to sleep.
