"A cabin trip?" I asked and Jaden nodded. "It's kind of tradition," Mercedes added and I looked over at Dylan who shrugged "She's not wrong," He said and I sighed as I played with my fingers. "Next weekend?" I asked again and Mercedes nodded slowly before turning to Dylan and asking, "You didn't yell in her ears when you were 'singing' did you?" She asked and Dylan rolled his eyes. "Of course I didn't." He said.
"I'll go," I started as I saw the three of them start to smile, "But I have to fix the mess between my brother myself and my best friend first," I said and they nodded. "Completely understandable," Mercedes said. "Will uh ... Christian be there?" I asked carefully and Jaden shrugged, "He never misses the cabin trip, I don't think what went down will change that." Jaden said and I looked down at my hands, "Right." I mumbled. Mercedes grabbed her keys and stood up, "Alright it's time to take Brooke home. " She said as I stood up and grabbed the helmet that was resting on the table. Jaden looked between me, the helmet, and his twin sister before he raised his brow.
"You let her ride it?" He asked in shock and his sister shrugged "She likes it. And I like her." Mercedes before walking out of the restaurant. Jaden looked at me, "You are safe then." he said sounding quite impressed. I smiled and waved goodbye to both of them before meeting with Mercades by her purple bike. She turned the motorcycle on and looked back at me, "This was fun." She said. I chuckled and put the helmet on before swinging my legs over the bike. The ride home was peaceful. My mind started to race when I started to think about ways to approach my brother. He's been avoiding nearly everyone including myself and it kind of hurts. I asked him to go to the party that night.
I feel like what happened that Friday was might fault. If I had my attention on them the entire night and wasn't too focused on the petty rivalry between Sophia and I, all of this could've been avoided. The bike stopped and I opened my eyes to find myself looking at my house. I got off of the idling bike and removed my helmet. Mercedes chuckled as she looked at me, "You have helmet hair." She teased as she grabbed the helmet from me. I reached up and fixed my hair before smiling at her, "Thanks for the distraction. I needed that," I said and she shrugged, "It was no biggie. Now get inside and make amends with your brother before I drag you in your house and do it myself," She said the playfulness extremely evident in her tone.
I rolled my eyes and told her to get home safe before I walked into the house. To my surprise, both Summer and Henry were cuddling on the couch. They were both asleep. I stood there in shock and confused. How the f**k? When the f**k? What? I pulled my phone out and took a picture of the both of them then sent it to my mom. Mission accomplished I guess? I started to go up the stairs but turned around, I still needed to apologize. I sat on the coffee table and stared at them as they sleep. They looked so peaceful, So comfortable, relaxed, vulnerable. It would be a shame ... if someone woke them up.
With a devious smirk on my face, I leaned forward and screamed: "THERES A FIRE!"
They jumped and bumped heads, Panic and fear plastered on their faces. I fell to the ground clutching my stomach as I laughed and wheezed. "Very f*****g funny Brooklyn." I heard my brother say and he started to get up. "Wait," I said between laughs as I started to calm down. He sat back and I got up and wiped a tear from my eyes. I sat on the coffee table and chuckled a bit as I played with my fingers. After calming down, I looked at both of them and said, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen the way it did." I said started and sort of blanked out as I began to rant,
"It's not your fault, we know." Summer said but I didn't hear that. "I mean I tried to ignore it but you know the b***h has a mouth on her, Mercedes kind of got her away from me for a while but she sent her stupid boyfriend after me." I continued, "We know that Brooke," My brother said, and once again I couldn't hear him. "She dared him to kiss me and because I didn't she went after the two of you guys. I don't even know how she knew to go after you guys, but that's why people started throwing things at you two and say means things." I said and tugged my fingers, "She even said I slept with Dylan because I was taking him upstairs. She didn't have to say it but I know she thinks I took advantage of his drunken state but that's not true, It was f****d off of whatever he had and I was helping him get to bed." I said pulling at my finger.
"We know"
"I'm sorry you got slapped instead of me Summer, If I could go back and be in your place that night, I would in a heartbeat. You didn't deserve it and she knows that too. She's f*****g crazy." I said
"We know"
"I mean she sent her own f*****g boyfriend after me and Christian actually tried to kiss me. I feel stupid. This could've all been avoided if-" A hand rested on my mine. I looked up at Henry and saw him rolling his eyes, "We know. Stop doing that to your finger before you f**k it up. I understand the situation you were in and it was inevitable I guess. I've come to terms with it and so did Summer. We're not mad at you." He said and he looked over at Summer before leaning back and putting his arm around her. Her cheeks turned a deep red shade as she looked at the side of his face. I bit back a smile as he spoke, "Besides, your stupid and very petty fight with that chick had a good outcome for me, Look at this." he said with the biggest smile on his face.
I rolled my eyes playfully, "I did the majority of the work, where's my credit." I said and he flipped me off, "Here it is." He said and I smiled, "You asshole. I'm glad you guys finally got together." I said with a small smile, "Just don't tell mom yet." He said and I chuckled awkwardly,
"Ha, about that,"
