Chapter 8: Mysterious Man

“Who are you? Are you talking to me?” I said. He walked nearer to me and now I can see him. He’s a tall guy and he’s wearing a tuxedo. He has a perfectly shaped face with pointed nose, thick brows and firm lips. Well, to make it short, he’s a handsome man. “I saw you inside. You were cool and it looked like you have accepted what happened to your Dad but when you’re alone, you break down.” He continued. “I need to be strong for my Mom and my brother. We only have each other now.” I said. I don’t know this man but it felt like he was somehow being kind to me. “You don’t have to be strong all the time. You also need to be taken care of.” He said. This man is mysterious. “What do you know about me? Who are you?” I said. “I’m just a family friend.” He said and then walked away. Wow! Who is he? I watched him leave and entered the house. “Ke? Are you there?” I heard Aki’s voice from behind me. “I’m here, Aki!” I yelled just enough for him to hear me. “Come on, Mom wants us to meet someone.” He said. “I’ll be there.” I said as I stood up and went to him. “What are you doing there?” He asked me. “Oh, I was just getting some air.” I said. “Who are we going to meet?” “I don’t know, maybe Dad’s business associates.” He said. We walked towards the receiving area where Dad was laid. Mom called us when she saw us walking towards them. “Oh, here comes my children!” I looked at the people in front of her. It was a woman almost the same age as my Mom with a guy on her side. Oh wait! This guy is the same as the guy in the garden earlier. Who is he? I looked at him confused but he just smiled at me. “This is Mrs. Athena Salvador and her son Jaxon Salvador. They are the family of one of your dad’s closest friends who died almost a year ago. This is my son, Aki and my daughter, Kerra.” Mom said. Jaxon? Even his name sounds nice. “It’s nice to meet you, Kerra.” He said and offered a handshake. Oh my God! I cannot believe someone could be as handsome as he is plus with a kind attitude. If he was a son of Dad’s close friend, how come I didn’t get to meet him before?
