Chapter 23
Ellie hurried through the house, grabbing her keys and heading to the door where Sophie was waiting. She had already showered, put on a nice clean dress, and told her sister all about her adventure. Sophie was just happy she’d found Ryan and vowed that she, too, would help him when he got out. She was just happy he finally realized for himself that getting clean was his best choice.
“The Saturday crew cornered me at The Happy Apple,” Sophie said. “I told them you had some business out of town, but you know how that goes.”
“They wanted the dirt,” Ellie said, pulling her front door shut.
“Oh, for sure. Drake was able to sweet talk them and distract them, luckily, but I was afraid if you didn’t make it back again, they were going to hunt me down.”
