Chapter # 31

2004 Words
Aurelia was walking down the corridor, working on her file, humming to herself until a hand grabbed her wrist, pinning her against the wall. “What the-” She was about to twist the hand and break it into pieces but stopped when she saw Elliot. “Hey, hey, it’s me.” He whispered, chuckling at her astonishment. “What the hell, Elliot? Don't you have work?” She scolded, trying to get out of his grasp but he pushed her against the wall. “Elliot, stop. Someone will see.” She whispered, blushing from embarrassment, looking to watch out from people. Her mind is only stressed and she doesn't need more. “Let them, you are originally mine.” He chuckled huskily, leaning down to kiss her but she slammed her file on his chest. “Stop.” She puffed but his smile grew wider, brushing his nose against her. “I don’t want to.” He murmured and held her waist, hitching her breath by his action. She shivered, distressed by his touch. Whenever he touches her, all her mind could perceive was Alphonse and it stops her instantly. “Come on, Kiss me.” He whined, pressing his body over hers, leaning down to press his lips upon her but her phone rang. She gasped, pushing him away and her heart stopped to see him. “M-My phone. It’s Alphonse.” she said worriedly, motioning to him to shut up, worried about his reaction. “Asshole.” He growled, scoffing. When she finally gave in, his call interrupted them. She frowned, “You go.” She said, picking the call. “Hello?” She replied in a soft tone, gaining Elliot’s attention. “Hey. I didn’t want to bother you but can you take a short leave and come home?” Alphonse asked hesitantly, not wanting to bother her. “Why? Is everything okay?” She asked, walking to her office but Elliot came after her. ‘What happened?’ He gestured with his hand. ‘Shh’ She glared at him to shut his mouth and let her talk, storming back to her office. “Yeah. We need to leave somewhere in the evening. Can you do it?” He asked nonchalantly. “Where?” She asked, checking the time, putting her file back. “A party.” He asked, which brought a grimace on her face. “So you want me to dress to impress people, to show them how so-called happy we are?” She asked, furious at him to make her do what she resents. “No. Just come along, nothing else.” He sighed, leaning back on his seat, rubbing his temples. “Fine. When is it?” She asked, checking the time and turned to see Elliot there which made her gasp. “What?” He asked. “Nothing. Just Matteo. He was standing right behind.” She sighed, motioning to Elliot to leave but he refused. “Ah, what will happen to our country when our cops are scared of each other?” He chuckled dryly, teasing her which made her hiss. “This explains why you are still alive even being so close.” He hummed, smirking at her rage. “We will leave at seven.” He said, likiung shows it infuriates her if you mock her about her job. “I will be home by six then.” She muttered, folding her arms, pouting to herself. “Okay, thanks. Bye.” He was about to cut the call but she called. “Alphonse.” She called him innocently, the sound made his heart skip a beat and Elliot envious. “Hmm?” He hummed, putting his hand on his chest, leaning back on his seat, closing his eyes to feel the sound. “Did you mean it?” She asked, actually taking his words to her heart. “Darling, you are the first office to deceive and come out alive. How’s that for the bravery award?” He smirked, indulging in her little but sweet reaction. “Yeah, yeah, Whatever.” She muttered but it brought an unintentional prideful smile on her lips. “Can’t wait to see you. Bye.” He said sincerely and cut the call. Elliot stood with a scowl, not liking how she was smiling by talking to him. She noticed his gaze and her smile faded. “What is it?” He asked strictly, fuming with anger. “Aristocratic stuff, I guess. I will quickly end this file and leave for the party.” She shrugged her shoulders, raising her brows at his frown, mentally scolding herself for the reaction. “You can say no, right?” He asked, his grimace deepening. “Who told me to bond with him?” She mocked, making up a quick excuse for her action because she didn’t do it out of his guidance. “Okay, okay. Take care.” he sighed, putting his hand in the air and walking away, leaving her alone. She took a deep breath, resting her hand on her chest to control her racing heartbeats. “What the hell was it?” She asked herself, not knowing why she smiled at his words herself. Shaking her head, she emptied her smile from useless thoughts to not aggravate her vexation, she went home after wrapping her work up real quickly. She went home, noticing she was a bit late to leave for his party. “What was your urgen-” She asked, using her phone, submitting her early leave application online but stopped when she looked up only to find Alphonse dressed no less than a handsome devil. “What-” He was deniably handsome and proves it everyday by his aura and posture, by his dominance, but today the mere tie in his maroon suit jacket enhanced his beauty. Her eyes widened, seeing him using his phone too, looking unquestionably elegant, one hand in his pocket and the other using his phone to increase his hotness. She paused, a blush reaching her cheek, burning her cheeks by his handsome appearance, checking his form out unwillingly. “Oh, you’re home. I have called the stylist. Pick any dress you want and get ready.” He replied monotonously, pointing at the room, not noticing she just checked him out. She inhaled, regaining her sensation to not melt into his beauty and turned her head away. “If you want me to take you there to be the showpiece of someone else's show then forget it.” She asked coldly, trying not to look at his handsome features, causing her to blush. “It’s nothing like this.” He shrugged, going back to his phone. She glanced at his riveting yet muscular body before walking back to their room to get ready. She deliberately picked a maroon well-fitted dress, having a long slit on it’s left side, giving her body a enthralling look and got ready with the matching makeup. She got ready, unable to believe how gorgeous she looked in the dress, suiting her so well. Smiling at her reflection, checking herself out. “Are you done?” Alphonse entered. He was on the phone call but stopped with wide eyes when his eyes fell on her arresting appearance, scanning her which made her heart thump. Her smile slowly faded, taking a step back at his extensive stare, tugging her hair behind her ear, suddenly turning timorous. “What do you think? I think I am overdressed.” She asked hesitantly, looking away, but he cut the call, coming closer to lift her chin with his index finger. "Glad you matched the color, I wanted you to." He whispered seductively. "I-It's your imagination. I just want to wear this dress." She lied, stammering a bit. A dark smirk came to his lips, loving how she matched her color with his, which made his chest boast, pounding his chest with strange sensations. “You look absolutely stunning, like an angel.” He whispered, contemplating her form one more time, drying her throat by his action. His eyes cannot believe to find her before him, turning him oblivious of this world. “You mean it?” She asked innocently. “I am not good with compliments but.. You look like a sculpture of a bewitch.” He hummed, nodding in response, boosting her confidence with his endearing compliment, but those words came out from the bottom of his heart. He couldn't control himself after witnessing her doll-like features, drowning deeply into them to never return. “Thanks.” She replied, sheepishly, staring back into his handsome attributes intently. Their heart skipped a beat simultaneously, before pulling away awkwardly when his eyes slowly intoxicated her mind. She looked everywhere but him, urging to compliment him but not knowing what to say. “Umm. You-” She was about to say but he extended his hand, immobilizing her with a scarlet face but thankfully her makeup hid it. She thought he would touch her but he took out her gun from her belt and gave it to her. “You might need it.” He said in a low tone which ruined the whole mood for her. Her nervous smile faded, replaced by a scowled. “If I need a gun to protect myself in the presence of you and your thousand men then I spit on your people, Alphonse.” She taunted him back, yanking her gun back and putting it back on the table. “Can’t all of you protect one woman?” She smirked, mocking him but he sighed. “I won’t be there, that is why I want you to take it for protection, in case anything goes wrong.” He explained to her, worried about her safety. “Then why are you taking me along? You know I am a cop right?” She asked, raising her one eyebrow at him, knowing if she found anything, she could arrest him but he won't allow it anymore. “I don’t trust you anymore. I have a deal. You will come along and stay until I am done with it.” He warned her, not believing in her anymore to do something fatuous. “If I caught what it is about, you will go to prison with me for the second time.” She smirked victoriously, folding her arms at her chest. “Only if you can.” He smirked, challenging her to gain a second chance to arrest him because it won’t happen again. “I wonder how many people are involved in saving you, how many higher ups are sheltering you.” She asked, smirk fading, making her feel disgusted to fathom how bad things are. “World is full of evil, no one is a saint here. We are all corrupted.” He hummed, not thinking much about it but he was right. “You are too, somewhere in your heart.” He said, putting his phone back and offering her his hand gallantly. “Tsk.” She scoffed, knowing he is right and cannot extend their conversation further. It was no use talking more about the topic whose answer she already knew. “Purity has died long ago, you are a cop, you see crime every day, you should know it.” He whispered, pulling her closer, etching the harsh reality she is already aware of. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever. It's my fault I said that.” She sighed, putting her hand in the air in defeat. “So, should we leave?” He smirked at her frown to see she lost this debate, noticing her scant yet amusing reactions. “Fine.” She hummed, rolling her eyes off, trying not to show it pissed her off. “Let’s go.” She said coldly, leading both of them out as he continued to stare at her in dazzle but shaking her head to forget what they talked about and focus on their upcoming party; they left.
