Alexander knew three things for sure, 1. Casey was changing him. 2. He did not know the difference between him and the beast anymore. 3. He was in love with her. He needed to put some space between them and the night shift he would be starting would be a start, he could not let himself fall for her any harder. He arrived at the house and found that they had delivered his old car. He called her to meet him outside and she went to join him, only to be met with car keys of a car in perfect condition. "Well..?" he asked genuinely excited instead of the usual robotic routine way he treated doing things for her, "...since I'm starting the night shift on Monday, I don't want you to struggle to get things done." "You didn't have to, but thank you," she said taking the car keys. She needed the car and also he was good to Andrew, so she decided she would not look for a new place even though she could afford it.
They went back inside the house awkwardly, both excited on the inside but too afraid to share with the other their excitement, "Hey, why don't we take the car for a spin, I need a few things to get started on dinner." he said trying to escape this dark cloud hanging over them, he was glad she easily agreed. She got up and got Andrew ready.
From the time they left the house to the store, they both didn't know when they had stopped pretending and just enjoyed being with one another and in that moment Alexander decided, he would not keep himself away from her, he would tell her how he felt and if she didn't feel the same way, better for her still because she would be safe from the beast. All his life, Alexander had never met a girl that was not crazy about him until Casey. She pulled away from his kiss when girls used to beg him to kiss them. When she parked the car at the grocery store, she could sense his reluctance to get out of the car. "What's wrong?" she asked a lot more worried about the sudden mood change. “I’m done hiding from you like we’re children, Casey I like you, a lot. I’d like to date you, of course because of my stupidity I took on the night shift to avoid you and now I won’t see much of you, but now that doesn’t feel right too,” he said putting his cards on the table and she was shocked, “...that kiss meant a lot to me, asking you to pretend like it didn’t happen is impossible, part of the reason I took on the night shift I so I wouldn’t see you to be reminded that I shared a earth shattering kiss with you and it meant nothing to you.”
Casey couldn’t take his blabbering anymore, she just kissed him, with a passion that matched the one from the previous day. He was excited and scared at the same time, this relationship was doomed to fail from the beginning, so he pulled away, “Only kiss me back if you agree to be mine and mine alone,” he said and she kissed him. She had agreed to be his, he could feel the beast jump for joy on the inside of him. He shrieked in worry and fear and she noticed it, but was too happy to ruin the mood right now, she knew that Alexander was working through his things, otherwise why did none of family come to see him up on the mountain where he stayed. He never talked about his family, had she not met them at the hospital, she would never know they existed.
They got out of the car and went into the grocery store with Andrew in Alexander’s arms and his other arm possessively around her waist. She thought that it was cute that he is marking his territory, even though he had nothing to worry about because she remembered nothing from her old life. “Hey you’re the reason we’re here, so stop being so lovey dovey and let’s do what we’re here for and let’s go home,” she teased him and he pulled her even close as if even possible, “Look here woman, you are mine and I’m not letting go of you until everyone in the store knows it,” he said in a serious tone that made the darkness in his eyes look so sexy when she should be scared to death, but it sent electricity to her lady parts.
Going around aimlessly in the store, Casey saw a man her eyes recognized but her mind couldn’t place, when he didn’t know to greet or just pass them by, she stopped. He was pro her getting her memory back so, he gave them the privacy they needed against his better judgement. 10 minutes later Casey and this man still spoke and now jealousy was written all over his face as he took the trolley without a word. Andrew as though sensing his foul mood, he cried for his mother and he did his best to appease the little boy. He even bought his a box of teething biscuits and opened it to keep him busy. Soon Casey caught up with them, waiting to for him to lash out, but he remained cold and indifferent. She thought it was cool, how a rich and successful doctor like Alexander could get jealous over a nobody like herself, even the guy she was talking to didn’t know her, was she destined to live a life of constant wonder of who she was.
