When they arrived at Jason's villa, Alexander realized his brother had grown in the past four years, he had bought a house and it looked like Sam stayed with him. This was a side of Jason that Alexander didn't expect to see so soon, for him it felt like it was so soon because his life has been on hold until he met Casey.
He felt genuine happiness seeing his brother taking his relationship with Samantha serious, he remembered how Sam had tamed the millionaire Playboy Doctor. He opened the fridge to get himself a beer and found it stocked with actual food and not left over take outs. Life did not wait for him the last four years. He felt a bitter pang in his chest as he thought about the last four years he wasted. "Hey man, are you okay?" Jason asked from behind him, seeing him frozen in front of the fridge. "Yeah I'm good, you have a lovely home kid," he said hugging his brother, "...I'm proud of you." "I'm not trying to break this touching moment, but can you guys go set up the table," Sam said looking so natural in that gigantic kitchen. She looked elegant in her state of the arts home, making her look like a millionaire house wife, something Sam would never agree to.
They had casual conversations through out dinner, Sam could sense that something was wrong between their guests, almost as if they are fighting, the last time she spoke to Casey she got the impression they had dealt with the Cara issue and yet here they were being all awkward the whole evening, after dinner they sat watching the boys run around with Andrew who was such an angel. "So what is with you and Alexander?" Sam asked getting comfortable next to her. "I have no idea, since his sister came to threaten him, he has been different, almost distant, but he still does everything the same way, except now like he is on auto pilot, I don't want to feel like a chore for him," she said trying to hold back tears. "I know I run the risk of looking like I am defending him, but you are Alexander's second relationship, and also his first serious relationship, let him get the hang of things first. I know him, he is a good guy, they don't get better than him," she said taking Casey's hand into hers as they watched them. "I hear you, I am trying t be patient and honestly I am, it's so hard, sometimes my frustrations with the memory thing makes it worse from nowhere. Being cooked up in that house all day is also not helping," she said telling the truth to Sam like she would do in her diary and realized how easy it was talking to her about her problems. "Have you considered putting the little guy to day care and getting a job, or at least talking to Alexander about your frustration of staying at home all day, you have been a career driven woman in your past life and now your body misses it, but your mind does not remember it," she said and they both looked at each other and couldn't help but laugh at Sam being so deep, "...don't judge, I'm just naturally deep."
After a couple more hours, Alexander and Casey left with the already sleeping Andrew. Casey had decided to cut Alexander some slack, the man is trying and he showed her that he would do anything to keep her. Alexander never talks about his family, but even Casey could see that Alexander and his father had a lot of bad blood between them when she saw them together at the hospital. Sometimes they would pass each other in the corridors as though they were strangers and yet when they were fighting, he asked for help from his father and that must have taken a lot from him.
When they arrived back at his house, she ran his bath water as he put the baby down for the night. She ran into his in the hallway and just hugged him, "I know I have been giving you a hard time lately, but I want you to know that ends tonight. I ran your bath water, what else can I get you?" she said so sweetly that it took Alexander by surprise, not that Casey was never nice, things had been rocky between them since Cara and he lived in constant fear of her leaving him like everyone else in his life. "There will always be one extra thing I'll ever ask from you when you do something nice for me, and that is for you to do it with me. Will you join me?"
When they took a bath together, she got a chance to tell him about getting a job. She was surprised to see that Alexander not being Andrew's biological father, he had the kid's best interest at heart. He told her that Andrew is still getting to know her since she has been in a coma since he was born and not that she is out, he needs all the time with her as he can get, maybe when Andrew turns one, he even offered to find her a job himself with his father's connections. Preferably somewhere close to him, since Casey ran into that old guy at the grocery store, he was worried her husband would be coming for her.
