Chapter Four
Ruth’s POV
“What?!” I screamed in astonishment, almost jumping up from the wooden bed.
I stared at the female physician in shock, shaking my head in disbelief.
“You heard me, miss.” The physician paused. “You are one week pregnant and need urgent treatment. If you have any plans of aborting the child, it would be as good as ending your life because having this baby is only a miracle.” The physician explained to me meticulously as she arranged her medicine box and left.
My eyes swayed to the small bag I had wrapped to run away with then fell on my stomach. Was this a dream? If ever it was, I desperately wanted to wake up. How could I get pregnant for that beast?
I was so confused and broken, that all my hope of running away and starting afresh died immediately. I was done for.
Suddenly, I started hearing rustling sounds from the back, corner, front, and left, as the people ran, the small stick fire they held made waves, and it was obvious that warriors were surrounding the chamber that I was in.
“Who’s there?” It wasn’t like I didn’t know what was happening, I knew but I was trying to act clueless.
“Kill!” A familiar voice urged them and they were about to throw the fire stick at the chamber when I decided to use the last bait.
“If you hurt me, you will also be hurting the Alpha’s baby!” I yelled at the top of my voice, making sure they heard me. There was a sudden stop and silence.
“I’m pregnant for the Alpha!” I made a comeback and I heard retiring footsteps.
It didn’t take a minute before someone barged into my room and it was Lox, he approached me and grabbed my hand.
“What is the meaning of that?!” He questioned me in anger.
“You heard me and I will repeat myself over and over again. I’m pregnant and you are the father!” I fired at him seriously.
If I was asked, I wouldn’t be able to explain where the courage was coming from.
“When? How? Why?” He rambled with questions and I smirked in disgust.
“Ask your careless d**k for not being careful!” I said curtly.
“I will not accept this from you.” He pushed me away, pointing at me with his finger. “I will never accept you or that thing!” Another statement followed.
“I also don’t want it but in the end, I have no choice!” I spilled bluntly.
“No choice? There are thousands of choices. I want you to abort that child and get out of my face!” He urged me seriously.
“I would have aborted but the physician said this child is somehow linked with my life!” I lashed at his face.
“And who cares about your life?” He yelled at my face and my jaw dropped.
“What?” I wasn’t expecting that word so fast from him. It took a while before I recollected my thoughts.
“Let me go. I also don’t want to be with you. I can stay with my child alone.” I said calmly, controlling my emotions.
“I don’t want you alive, is that too hard for you to digress? You have to die!” His brows furrowed.
There was a long silence.
“This news should not leave this roof.” He warned me seriously.
“And what about the warriors I already told? It’s your baby and you can never deny the fact.” I reminded him.
“I killed them.” He spilled bluntly and I shivered in shock as he gradually approached me. “And I can get rid of you if you don’t keep shut as I have instructed.” He informed me lividly before storming out of the room.
What have I gotten myself into?
I thought having a baby for him would give him a change of heart but it didn’t, rather he assigned me to the slave unit in the pack.
“You must work here until the day of your execution.” The man who seemed to be his right-hand man informed me curtly, as he pushed me in the omega section and walked away.
I carried a bucket of water on my head, aiming to turn it over to the big drum when some ladies set their feet for me and I stumbled on the ground.
“Ouch!” I groaned in pain, holding my stomach.
None of them knew I was pregnant and even if they knew, it was none of their business. Also for the first time in my life, I was trying to protect something that wasn’t worth protecting because it was linked to my life.
As I fell, I hoped nothing happened to my baby.
The trio laughed at me as I struggled to get up.
“What are you still doing there? Go and fetch another water!” One of the maids queried me.
“Wait, is she still here?” The slave leader approached me, staring at me disdainfully.
“I thought I asked you to clean the toilets?” The slave leader questioned skeptically.
“I …” I felt nauseous and couldn’t respond to her question and rather than getting to know why I was acting weird, she gave me a dirty slap on my face.
That annoyed me and I got furious.
“Don’t you dare, even in your second life raise your dirty hand at me,” I warned her seriously and the trio were taken aback by my action.
Since I arrived, I have been behaving dole and quiet because I had to respect myself if I wanted to leave. But they have gotten to the peak level and I could no longer endure.
“What?” The slave leader spoke after a brief silence, she was also shocked. “What gave you the right to …?” She wanted to grab my ear but I held her hand in the air, and my chin tightened.
“I will never accept such action from you anymore.” I threatened in anger.
“Someone, get her!” The slave leader ordered some of the slaves and they picked some sticks and stones, attempting to hurt me.
“If anything happens to the Alpha’s baby, you will answer to him.” I spilled seriously and they stopped in shock.
“What?” They gasped.
“You…. You are pregnant?” The slave leader stuttered.
“Yes, I’m and the Alpha is the father. If you don’t respect him, touch me.” I urged them confidently, behaving proudly, and gradually, they stepped back and went over to do their business.
Cold sweat formed on the slave leader’s face as she wasn’t able to approach me since she was afraid. Of course, I had no intention of forgiving her immediately.
