Ambitious — I walked into my office everything was as I left it. The stacks of uncompleted paperwork, plenty to read and many to correct. Walking over to my desk I closed the door behind. Once I was seated comfortably I began sorting out my desk to look at least presentable. An hour later passed and I was still seated behind my desk with one of the manuscripts in hand. The door slightly opened my bosses head popped through the door before he fully came in sight. He was not the actual owner of the company, everything belonged to his father, Peter Wesley. “Hello Abigail.” He spoke as he took a seat in one of the chairs in front of my desk. I noticed he had a thin file in hand, looking from the file to him I quickly figured it out, of course he was here to give me more work. “This manuscript I have here needs evaluation. We’re meeting the author in the afternoon, I would you work on it right now. Very urgent.” he handed me the file. I didn’t hesitate taking it from him the sooner I started the better it would be. I gave him a fake smile once the manuscript was in my hand. “Sure. I’ll get right to it Sir.” I held my smile untill he walked out the room. As the door closed I leaned back against my chair looking at my stacks of work, today was going to be a long day. I flipped through the first page of the manuscript here we go again, my eyes would soon start giving up. Bright papers in my face every day, great job it was. Too concerned on my work I hardly heard the door open and close. Looking up I came to face Amanda one of my co-workers, she smiled giving me her award winning smile exposing her beautiful teeth. “Abigail it’s lunch, we should go eat.” I hadn’t even noticed that much time went by, my face was all up in the manuscript trying my best to finish it. My eyes trailed from her to the walled clock, only an hour till the meeting I most definitely had no time for lunch. I gave Amanda an apologetic smile, “Sorry Amanda but I can’t today. I need to finish this before one o’clock or Andrew will murder me. Go ahead we’ll have lunch tomorrow.” Her smile disappeared she never liked me skipping lunch but this time I had no option. A frown soon replaced her beautiful smile, “You work too much. Can’t you take like thirty minutes off, I swear Andrew won’t murder you he likes you.” Being reminded that everyday always brought a frown on my face. Imagine your boss liking you more than a co-worker it was disturbing, and the fact was I could never like him at all, like never for a lot of reasons. I huffed crossing my arms in front of my chest, “No can do and plus don’t ever say that again. That man disgusts me and you know you have a better chance then he will ever have.” Amanda rolled her eyes playfully then we both began laughing. After a while Amanda eventually left, I on the other hand was back to my tiresome job right now I couldn’t wait to get home and rest.
