Formal Anoucement of the Chosen Mate Ball

We all gather around in the Hall of the packhouse, the side windows are open, I never told you, the front of the packhouse as the normal door, but at the side is was sliding windows, we can look outside, but no one can look inside, usually their big vases with leaf’s resting against them so that someone that comes inside does not notice at first that the walls are glass, they just notice the plants.

In front is the Beta, Gamma, Warrior Commander, Omega Guest Services, and the respective mates, the second row is the ones that are finding the chosen mate at the ball, including yours truly, and after us it the pack. I hate this, everyone besides me is mostly in their supposed pairs, Lewis, Asli, Brian, Talia, Alec, Taya, Alan, Tory, Theo, Lin, and yours truly.

Everyone was gossiping around, telling how the couples were cute, and perfect, somewhere not so happy about the power couple Alec/Taya, saying that she will not be a good Luna, others were looking at me with pity eyes, and I heard, and what about Aleena, she does not have a Chosen Mate, will she be alone, she will have to go to another pack or the Lake House.

The Lake House, is the place near the border were the crazy un-mated wolfs, had to go live so that the pack will be unharmed, is always very well guarded by the pack guards that lost their mates, they say that the place is haunted by those how lost their mind because of losing their mates or at the beginning of knowing that they will never find their destined mate, but I do not fear that place, because I know what happens there, I will tell you later that story.

The Alpha and Luna enter the podium to speak and I notice someone behind them, but the row in front is blocking my line of vision.

“Lagoona Pack, we are today to formalize the beginning of the preparation for the Chosen Mate Ball, in a month from now, we will be giving the chance for our children to choose their mate for life, and to lead this pack in the future.”

 “We have something new this year for the ball.” Everyone started whispering to what Luna said.

I had hoped? No, not hope, but maybe they did listen to me after all and are doing something different.

“Everyone quiet.” Alpha voice. All quiet. “As you all know we have as allies the Lowlands Pack.”

My heart started racing, my mind went blank. The Alpha and Luna of the Lowlands Pack came up to the podium also, my heart stopped. I looked over at my brother the same time he looked at me and mouthed it will be okay, but he had the same expression of apprehension I have. I looked to the podium and Alpha Glen was looking at me with a big smile, that might not be good, I am doomed.

“Lagoona Park, I am here today with my Luna to ask your Alpha permission to join the Chosen Mate Ball with our un-mated wolfs. I hope you all will also see it as an opportunity, to meet some of the people of my pack, and maybe join a little more of our pack together.”

I raised a brow at Alpha Glen, what is he planning? My brother had a stunned expression, then we heard someone. “That means everyone will be mated.” A chill came down my spine,

“Since we have an uneven number of children this year, I think it’s a good idea, to have our allied pack, also in the ball, and maybe the number will be even.” Alpha Oscar said smiling.

Everyone whispers starting agreeing with what was said. I was shocked, to say the least, I never felt so betrayed. I could not stop myself.

“What if I refuse?” Everyone snapped their head at me. Even my father looked at me, his eyes saying to keep quiet.

“Refuse what?” Alpha Oscar said, annoyance already in his tone. “If I refuse to have a chosen mate?” Luna looked at me. “Why would you refuse? Choosing your mate is a way to protect you and the pack.” She took his side and was saying the way that if I refuse I am endangering the pack. “I want to wait until I am 18 to find my destined mate.” My father looks back at me. “Aleena.” Alpha Oscar was griping the podium with force.  “We had this talk already Aleena I hoped you had already lost that hope of finding a myth that does not exist anymore.” His voice was full of Alpha power, everyone shrugs. “But.” His eyes were changing because of the defiance. “No but’s, you will choose someone for you, or it will have consequences.” Luna was grabbing his arm the wolf at the surface.

“Alpha Oscar, maybe we can help, she could only be afraid to choose someone she never saw before. How about a week before the ball, my un-mated pack members and we come to your pack so that the children get acquainted?” Luna Mikaela said nodding at our Luna.  “That sounds a great plan, what do you think honey?” Our Luna took the hint. He takes deep breathes, looks at his mate, smiles like there is hope left. “That is a good idea, we will prepare the Packhouse for all of them.” He then looks to Alpha Glen. “When you send me the list, we will discuss the best way.”

“That is the plan.” Alpha Glen agrees with Alpha Oscar and glances at me.

I am lost in words. I was just ignored by everyone. I look at Alpha Glen with my eyes full of betrayal, he just gives me a big smile. His Luna talks to him, and she looks at me giving me the same big smile. Those two are planning something.

‘Sis?’ Allan tries to see what I was feeling. ‘Never trust an Alpha.’ I was defeated. ‘Sorry, Sis.’ Now I had two Alphas to deal with. ‘Is not your fault, is mine for trusting him.’ That is why I have to keep a secret. ‘What do you think he is trying to do? He already knows that the Destined Mates is not a myth.’ I started wondering. ‘All I can say is that they have a plan and involves me as it seems.’

‘Do you think he is doing this so that you go to his pack, and’ Swallows ‘use your power?’ That was not plausible. ‘He did not need to do this. Since he agreed that off something happens I could go to his pack.’ Allan and I always knew that it was dangerous for me to be exposed. I just can’t ignore them. ‘Maybe he cannot wait for anything to happen and wants to take you now.' Something was off that I could feel. ‘I do not know but I must find out.’

“All of you go to the back of the house, we have planned a barbeque too all of you and our guest this evening.” Alpha Oscar dismissed everyone that started going to the back. We stayed I need to know what they are planning.

“Aren’t you both coming?” Mother came to my side and put her hand on mine. I did not felt, but I was shivering.  “I must go to the bathroom first.” I lied to her.  “And you? Do not tell me you are going to help your sister.” Mother's brow lifted looking at Allan. An overexcited Tory, wrapped around his arm. “Alan, let us go the barbeque is starting.” Dragged Alan away. “See outside Sis.” He says looking over his shoulder. ‘Be careful, if anything happens call me.’

‘I will.’ While seeing my brother being dragged to the Big-League Group, of Alec the future Alpha.

I looked sideways to Alpha Glen, that was still very enthusiastic chatting with Alpha Oscar. And started moving to the supposed bathroom.

“I heard you are going to the bathroom, mind if I join, I do not know where it is.”
