Dark Moon Pack

P.O.V. Rogue Master

It's time, soon she will be 18 years old, and mine. She may not remember me but I remember her, how the others don’t believe in her, I believe, I want her to be mine, to protect her. I am a rogue, since the big war my family has been wandering around, my parents all killed because they were rogues too. I was a 10 years old child alone in the world, trying to get shelter, but all the packs just came after me to kill me every time. He was the only person that sheltered me, he was like a father to me, he was broken because of the death of his wife, still, he protected me from other rogues that were after me.

I howl again in the dark forest, for help, please someone save me. I was being chased by three adult rogues. I was 10 at the time, running from the ones that killed my parents, only to encounter others that wanted to kill me, my legs were weak. I had been running for days now, stopping only to drink, eat only when I found bushes of fruit,  it was on one of those occasions that the rogues got to me, I had to run again, no rest, no sleep. I was at my limit, my vision started to get blurry, my legs started failing. I could not stop, I could still hear them behind me, I was too weak my body gave up, my face came in contact with the floor, my last thought was, I am dead, the steps were getting closer, and closer, I closed my eyes, waiting for them to kill me. But nothing.

Suddenly I heard a savage growl, something jumping over me. I did not dare to look, my face was on the ground, my body hurting from running, I could not move, but I could hear the growls of a fight, breaking bones, howling in pain, until there were only deep breaths. I dared to look at a brown wolf, covered in blood, over the three dead bodies of the rogues. He then looked at me, no emotion in his eyes. I sniff the air, he had a scent, a pack not a rogue. I saw it coming my way, sniffing the air and growling, I shake, try to move my legs, but they were numb from the pain,  my energy was completely drained out before he even got the chance to kill me, I faint.

When I woke up, I was in a run-down house, on a not so got mattress on the floor, my hounds were treated, There was a jar with flowers near the window, a plate with food near me. I sit down very slowly, still dizzy from not eating in a long time, a low painful voice comes from me, when I put my feet out of the mattress, I look at my feet that have some sort of cloth covering them with blood. I was about to remove it.

“Don’t.”

I just look up, and see a man looking at me.

“Your feet had a lot of cuts, I put some ointment from plants, keep the cloth for now.”

Coming near me I instantly moved away to the other side of the mattress, feeling dizzy at my sudden action.

“Don’t move so fast, you need to recover strength. Eat.”

He picked up the plate and put it near me.

“Eat slowly.” Then got up. “I will take you to a waterfall to get cleaned up, once you are better.” I just looked at him, leaving. I eat and lay down. I know he is not a rogue, so why is he helping me. After a few hours, I hear talking. I recognize the voice of the man before, and the voice of a girl??

I try to get up, although it hurts, I can walk slowly. I went near the front door. I only stood there looking from a broken part of the door. I saw the most beautiful girl in my life with the man in front of her blocking the way to the house.

“Are you the one living here mister?” She asked with my most innocent voice.

“Do you know who are the creatures that live here?”

I was fascinated with her, that innocent voice gave warmth to my heart, I stayed inside listening to the conversation. I heard her say that she was cleaning the house, making me look around, indeed being a rundown house it was clean, a few things are different than others, seem in better shape. I look back in the hole from the door and continue listening to the conversation.

I found out that the man that was taking care of me, was a warrior from the pack, that lost his wife in the rogue wars, then they started talking about Destined Mates, which got my full attention. I still remember my mother and father telling me the stories about the Moon Goddess, how Destined Mates used to be so easy to find, that they were a few of the lucky ones to find their other half.

“If I help you find your other half, you will help me also?” 

I heard her say that and I froze, only the mates can find their other half, she can’t do that. Is impossible.

“What can I do for you?”

“Protect me.”

“From what?”

“The pack, the boys, the girls.” 

“Are you being bullied?” 

That made my blood boil, she was being bullied, because of a true story, even if she is lucky enough to guess the True Mates, they should have not doubted her. I see her head nodding yes. I was about to open the door to run to her when my strength failed and my legs gave out, I was on the floor looking at the scene outside on a small breach that I did when I tried to open the door, to the outside it was as the door was closed, but I could see in the gap.  I could see her, all of her, her golden hair put in a ponytail, her green and brown eyes, I bet they change according to the weather, her smell was light like a bouquet of wildflowers.

“Ok. You got my warrior word.” 

“I must go.”

Then I saw her leave with the man. Wait, is he leaving me to go with her? I want to go also. I crawled back to the mattress, my thoughts were all of her, if she is from this pack, how could I get her, how can she be mine.

After a few minutes, the man came back. “I must leave for a while, I will come back with some clothes to you, and good news.”

I spoke for the first time. “Who was that girl?”

“You saw that?” He looks down on me, with a worried face. “I heard two voices, I recognize yours. I went to see the other one.” I told the truth.  “That is one of the kids from the pack. I must go there to take care of some business, rest when I come back I will take you to a bath, and we will talk.” 

“Why?”

He looked at me. “Why what?” 

“Why did you help me, I am a rogue?”

He sighs and gets down next to me and patted my head. “Because if I ever had the opportunity to have a son, I did not want him alone in this world as a rogue.” Getting up he started walking to the door.  “Thank you.” He stopped for a few seconds, then got out and shifted to run. I fell asleep because I was tired, waking up with the raging door of the run-down house, saw the man coming inside, he had a pained look in his eyes. 

He saw me awake and came next to me sitting on the mattress. “You need to leave by tomorrow.” I don’t understand.  “Why?  You were helping me.” He never took his eyes off me. “Yes, but tomorrow I will come back to the pack to be a warrior. There will be pack people coming to this house, you can’t stay here. I will no longer be here, it will be dangerous for you to be here alone. There are a lot of rogues around this area, since I will not be here the pack patrol will also be in this area.”

My eyes started watering.  “Why can’t I go with you?” His eyes were full of sadness. “I tried to ask the Alpha to bring you, but he denied it.” Patting my head. “Because I am a rogue?” He pushed me near him hugging me. “Yes, sorry.” I was tired, I had no more strength. 

“I deserve a life as much as any other wolf, why, why?” I started crying, back to the road, back to no place, to running, hungry, being chased. “I brought you clothes, if you can get up I will take you to take a bath in the waterfall. After we will try to find a place for you to be, a place where the pack patrols don’t go.”

I was crying, in my mind the only thing now was, I am alone, no one can help me. My mind is in another world, when the man helped me up, and carried me to the waterfall, helped me bathe and get dressed. After we got back to the run-down house we got something to eat and went to sleep. 

I did not sleep, instead, I decided it was better if I did not stay, he didn’t want me, I had to leave. I got up and left in the middle of the night. I ran as fast I could, ended up in the waterfall, and broke down crying, I was alone.

‘You are not alone, let me help you, let us live our lives, make our pack, and come back to get the girl, once we are strong we can come back for her.’

I heard this voice in my head, and got up, looked around but no one was there with me.

‘You will meet me soon, I am your wolf.’

“Rogues don’t have wolves.” I talked to no one.  ‘You have me, even as a rogue you have a wolf.’

“What do you mean to make our pack?” I was not alone.  ‘We are wolves, first, let’s become strong, then find other rogues, promise them their other half if they follow us.’ 

“Their other half? You mean the Moon Goddess Mate?” My lips were dry from crying so much. ‘Yes, that girl will help us find them for our pack. First, we need to become strong, we need to become the stronger Alpha, everyone must fear us. Once we get the rogues on our side, we can come back to her.’

“I am only ten years old, how can I?” I want to be strong.  ‘I will help you, let me guide you to a safe place we will recover. I will help you.’

“Wait how come I can hear you? You are supposed to only appear on my 16th birthday.” The pain was melting away.  ‘Your pain made me wake up sooner, now let’s go I can smell the patrol.’

“What is your name?” I drank a little bit of the water from the waterfall and got up starting to walk.  ‘Stygian’ He said, giving me directions to follow. “I am Abigor.” I felt him smile in my mind.  ‘Your name suits our intentions.’

“What do you mean?” His voice changed like a professor.  ‘Abigor is the name of a dashing knight with great powers about wars. I will teach you everything.’

That was when I met her, after that, I trained in the forest, became stronger and a terrific hunter. When I was ready, I left and started to join my pack together, there were years of blood, my name started rolling around the rogues, their savior, the one that will lead them to crush the packs and find the other half of all of us. I rule with an iron fist, blood almost every day, to prove that I am the great of them all, we never had a pack, because the Alpha’s council never gave me my official Alpha title. Even after I proved to them that I have enough wolves to create the new pack, they just refused, telling me that they can't form a new pack, that will endanger the wolf community. I decided to grow stronger, and take a pack out to get their place, I know exactly what pack to take down. 

“Master the scouts have returned.” I see two of the scouts that were sent to find and bring the girl in front of me, blood all over. 

“Master.” They bow their heads and keep them down 

“Where is she?” My voice was cold.  

“We did what the master told, we spy on them for months and found the girl.” 

Again, “Where is she?” I hate excuses, they are for the weak, we are not weak. 

“We found her alone in the waterfall, we were about to get her when two wolves came behind her and attacked us.”

Laying down in my chair I look them up and down. “Three against five, and you run? Too what pack do you two belong to?” They shiver at my voice. 

“The Dark Moon.”  

Getting up I bang my fist on the table. “Do we run away?” 

They lower their heads even more. “No, Master.” 

Banging again my hand. “Are we weak?” 

They were shivering all over their voice low. “No, Master.”

“So why is she not with you?” I was yelling at this part.

 “We also have news for you.” Looking at them, my wolf was about to kill those weaklings. “She is part of the Lagoona pack.” Interesting, my wolf calmed down, with curiosity. I made a hand gesture for them to continue. “Alpha Oscar is their pack leader, his son Alec is about to become Alpha, he mated another that was not his True Mate. Both seem to have hostility with our Luna. They gave her one year to leave the pack.” 

I started talking while thinking.  “We can’t have that, that pack will be ours and Luna also, we can’t let her leave. We must pick our plans up.” Going around the table.  “You two go, reunite the scouts and start the training. I need everyone in their best, including you two.” Pointing at them.  

“Yes, Master.”

As they leave, I start passing around. “We need to act quickly if they do anything to harm her.”

Growl. ‘They will not lay a single hand on our Luna, the one that will make us the strongest pack in the world. What do you say, raid in a week from now?’ I started talking to Stygian. 

‘Let’s train them nothing can go wrong, while they attack the pack, we get our Luna out of harm’s way.’ 

I smiled while the plan was coming up in my mind. ‘Yes, we will get her.’ Stygian was a great warrior so we started forming the plan. 

‘We need to find a way to keep their allies occupied.’

I also smiled at that. ‘I have an idea about that.’ I called for a meeting with the warriors, a few dark witches I found along my way, we are not the only ones that are put aside. I promised them a place in the new council, once I became the greater leader of the werewolves in the world, their greed is useful to me.
