“You need to lie down, Ayra,” Emily said, her hands trembling, she seemed very scared.“No, ma'am,” I said and was about to walk past her when my gaze rested on a reflective object in the room. I froze immediately when I saw the girl looking right at me, it was my reflection and that wasn't me but someone else.“What is this?” My pupils enlarged and my heart suddenly started racing.“Ayra,” I heard some voices scream, rushing over me. I could feel hands pick me up as well, I realized I was on the floor. I must have fallen after what I saw.“Ayra, baby are you alright? Get the doctor here immediately,” Emily yelled before turning her gaze to me again.I heard the door swing open and could still feel some hands on my body, voices talking but couldn't make anything of what they said. How did this happen? Who am I? How can I be alive but in the body of someone else? In the body of a total stranger?

Chapter 1
Karen I gasped for air and my eyes shot open, I felt suffocated for a moment and inhaled deeply, drawing air in through my nostrils and exhaled. “Finally,” I said inwardly, it had felt so difficult to open my eyes a while ago. “She’s awake, my baby is awake,” a voice startled me. I turned my gaze in the direction of the voice and blinked when I saw a beautiful lady who seemed to be in her mid forties standing next to my bed. “My baby is finally awake,” her voice was hoarse and she wiped the tears off her face with her trembling hands before wrapping her arms around me. “Ayra,” I heard another voice muttered surprisingly, and I turned my gaze to see a charming young man in grey suit coming to embrace me as well. I blinked in surprise, judging by their looks and exquisite outfit, they must be very wealthy. The scent of their lovely perfume filled my nostrils. My pupils enlarged though, I wondered who they were, and why they were hovering over me as if they knew me. ‘Why did this young man address me as Ayra?’ I questioned inwardly wishing I could push them off me, but couldn't find the strength to do so. “Doctor, my daughter is awake,” the lady said, turning her gaze away from me, her arms were still wrapped around my neck. “Doctor?” I questioned inwardly, glancing around, I realized I was in a hospital and was laying on a stretcher. ‘What am I doing in a hospital?’ I asked inwardly again as my gaze went from the lady to the doctor who seemed a little confused. “Hold on a minute, Ma'am,” the doctor muttered, looking confused and gesturing for the lady to move aside while he examined me. “She's alive,” the doctor muttered, still looking confused, what are they talking about? Should I be dead? Why do they all look surprised? “Yes, my daughter is alive doctor,” the lady spoke again, tears streaming down her eyes, but I think it's from excitement. “I thought we lost her, Liam,” the lady said, allowing the young man by her side hug her. “Me too Emily,” the young man I just heard addressed as Liam replied, peering rather hard at me. “I am not your daughter, my name is Karen,” I wanted to tell them, but couldn't find my voice. “I am sorry ma'am, we lost your daughter,” I heard a voice few inches away from me, making me turn my gaze in that direction. “No, doctor, my daughter can't die, she is only nineteen, you have to do something, bring her back to me, she can't die,” I instantly recognized the voice. “Mom!” I gasped inwardly, surprised to see my mom standing a few inches away from me, clinging pleadingly on to a doctor in front of her. “Doctor, please help my sister, she can't die,” I heard my little brother’s voice, I turned my gaze to him and saw him in tears. “Dave,” I muttered inwardly, peering from Dave to my mom, confused at what's happening. “I am sorry ma'am, your daughter didn't survive the accident,” the doctor said. “Accident?” I gasped inwardly, and suddenly some images flashed in my memory, making my head ache immediately. It was some fragment memory of a car knocking me down, but how come my family is there crying over a girl lying on the stretcher while I am over here? “You killed my daughter,” My mom cried out, rushing towards Emily, whose gaze was on my family too. “How dare you say that to me, woman,” Emily screamed furiously, glaring at my mother to my surprise. “Your daughter jumped into the road without looking and almost cost me the life of my precious daughter. You are lucky my daughter is still alive else I would have had you arrested and made sure you never see daylight again.” Emily yelled, pushing my mother hard that she almost fell on the ground. I felt the sudden urge to yell at Emily and to come to my mom’s defense but couldn’t move a muscle or say a word. “Oh no!” I gasped inwardly at another fragment flash in my memory about the accident. “Please take it easy Ma'am,” one of the nurses said, rushing to hold my mom when she wanted to charge at Emily again. “How can I take it easy, I just lost my daughter,” mom yelled, pointing to the body on the stretcher. “No Mom, I am right here,” I tried to scream, but still couldn't find my voice, no one heard me. “Go on doctor, make sure my daughter is alright,” Emily gestured to the doctor next to me who immediately gestured to two nurses to take me away. As they wheeled me away, I turned my gaze to make out the face of the person who lay dead on the stretcher and my pupils dilated, my blood ran cold at the sight of my still body. I was dead? That was me? For a moment I couldn’t take my eyes away from the white body I was staring at, too frightened by what I had seen. If I am laying there dead, then why am I also here, feeling alive? I tried to get up but a nurse held me back. “You have to lie down Miss, we still need to examine you, I mean, we thought we lost you a while ago,” one of the nurses said. “We lost her Chris, she was confirmed dead by doctor Hamilton,” the other nurse corrected her. “Hush, Vivian, she can hear you.” The nurse addressed as Chris hushed her. “What?” I muttered inwardly, trying to lift my body off the stretcher. “Please stay calm Miss,” the nurse named Chris told me again, now looking a bit frightened. “I told you Chris, miracles do exist,” Nurse Vivian told Chris. I squeezed my eyes shut, unable to wrap my head around whatever was going on. I just saw my body lying on a stretcher with my mom and younger brother crying for me while I am here.
