CHAPTER 4

PIA POV

Matamlay ang katawan na bumalik siya sa kanyang lamesa. Hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa rin siya makapaniwala sa mga nangyari at naging resulta ng naging meeting nila.

The company is handed down to a new CEO, of course it was no other than Terrence and that’s the reason why an Emergency Meeting was called to formally inform the team about the new management and the Boss’ retirement.

Hanggang ngayon di pa rin niya mapaniwalaan ang mga nangyari kasama na ang pagkadapa niya kanina nung dumating siya. Feeling niya the universe is conspiring to give her a hard day today. How did she even miss it, ang boss niya ay si Samuel Corpuz, well, there was no way for her to associate the two especially na ang naririnig niya lang naman dati ay nasa Amerika ang anak ng kanyang boss since she started working in the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Unit four years ago. Iniisip pa lang niya na ito na ang magiging bago niyang boss, makakaharap sa bawat meeting ay hindi na niya mapigilan any pag wa-wild ng kanyang puso. She herself doesn’t understand what she is feeling, but definitely she doesn’t like it.

“Heart please calm down okay, para kang baliw”, naaasar na kausap niya sa sarili.

“Hoy Pia, sino ba kausap mo dyan?” tanong ni Cass na ikinagulat niya. “May kausap ka ba? Narinig kita na parang nagsasalita eh”, usisa pa nito.

“Ah wala, wala akong kausap”, tawang-ilang na tugon niya.

“Oh siya, at uuwi na ako, sasabay ka ba sakin? tanong nito.

“Nope, thanks. I will drop by somewhere before I go home, so you can go ahead, salamat!” mahabang explanation niya.

“Well okay, see you tomorrow.” Paalis na ito ng bigla itong bumalik sa pwesto niya ng tila may maalala at kinikilig na nagsalita “Since na meet mo na si Sir Terrence, what can you say? diba he is super hot!!?? tili nito sa mahinang boses. “Who would have thought that the ex-MVP Player would be our new boss, super nakakakilig right?”, namumungay at namimilog pa ang mga mata na komento nito.

“You think he is hot? Saan banda? nakakunot-noong turan niya.

Bigla itong napasimangot sa tinuran niya “Hayyy, you are so dense my friend, kung hindi kita kilala iisipin kong na broken hearted ka na, kaya super ampalaya ka pagdating sa mga boys”, umiiling na wika nito sa kanya.

“I just don’t think that men can really understand how we really feel about them”, may disappointment sa tono ng boses niya saka nagligpit ng kanyang mga gamit.

“Shucks! grabeng hugot yun ah! kantiyaw nito bago tuluyang umalis.

Paalis na siya sa building ng bigla na lang bumuhos ang malakas na ulan. “s**t talaga, when it rain it pours” nagngingitngit ang kalooban na turan niya. Wala siyang dalang payong dahil nakalimutan niya sa bahay nina Cheska sa sobrang pagmamadali niya kanina at nung tiningnan niya ang phone para sana komontak ng grab saka nya na realize din na dead battery na eto dahil nakalimutan niyang mag charge. She has no choice but to run towards the bus stop station na halos limang metro din ang layo sa kinaroroonan niya.

Mabilis na tumakbo siya patungo sa covered area. Nakatayo na siya at chinicheck kung nabasa siya ng sobra ng biglang may dumaan na sasakyan sa harap niya. Huli na para umiwas pa sa paparating na mini tidal wave! Agad na nilapitan niya ang humintong sasakyan sa di kalayuan, at kinatok ang driver sa salamin ng passengers seat nito.

“Hoy bumaba ka! Wala kang modo! Akala mo ba may-ari ka ng daan!!? nangangalaiti niyang sita rito. Wala na siyang pakialam kung basang-basa na siya.

Nung binaba ng may-ari ang bintana, muntik na siya matumba ng makita niya ang mukha ni Terrence. Napamura siya sa sarili ng lihim, how can she be so unlucky and stupid? She looked like a mess at eto nagmumura pa siya na di naman niya usually ginagawa. She almost wish na lamunin na lang sana siya ng lupa at that instant dahil sa kahihiyan. Napaatras siya at aalis na lang sana ng sinundan siya ng sasakyan at hinarang sa daan di pa man siya nakakalayo. Biglang bumaba ng sasakyan si Terrence na may hawak na payong at hinarap siya.

“I didn’t know that Ms. Jimenez has a very interesting habit. Is this how you usually try to catch men’s attention?” sarcastic na may konting amusement pa siyang nahimigan sa boses nito.

Naramdaman niya na biglang nag-init ang ulo niya at hindi na niya napigilan ang sarili ng sumagot “The hell I care! I don’t even count you as one of those men na pagpapansinan ko with your egoistic attitude! Sino ka ba sa akala mong anak ng Diyos? singhal niya sabay talikod paalis. She is truly feeling enraged as of this moment and gusto na niya maging violent, sobrang bilis ng reactions and emotions niya na di niya maintindihan.

TERRENCE POV

He was a bit surprised with Pia’s reaction. While he admits that what happened was an accident, he does not appreciate her sudden outburst. Just as he was about to call her attention, she was fast to approach the cab that was passing by. He had no choice but to went back to his car and dried himself. He is pissed, this is the first time in years that someone has intentionally talked back to him , and not to mention that the same lady had pissed her off earlier during the meeting as well.

The next morning, when he arrived in the office, he immediately ordered his secretary to call Pia so he could set things straight with her. She was young, and her father had developed some kind of fondness for her but it doesn't mean that he feels the same way too. He needed to show her who was the boss here.

Just as he was about to call his secretary for updates, he received a phone call from his Dad. He cannot help but frown since he did not expect any calls from him.

“Yes Dad? he inquired.

“Son, I just called to let you know that Pia is taking a leave today, she said she was feeling under the weather. She called me since she said she doesn't know or have your number.” his father’s lengthy response.

As he listened, he felt more annoyed and hanged-up. He called for his secretary and asked her to get Pia’s number. As he dialed her phone number, the line remains busy and cannot be connected. What the hell?! He felt more pissed than ever.

PIA POV

She is lying in her bed. She just called her former boss to inform him that she was not feeling well and will not be reporting to the office. And just as the call earlier was connected, she remembered that her boss has already retired. But still, she cannot bring herself to call Terrence, instead she had turned-on her phone’s airplane mode, while it made her feel a bit uneasy, she cannot help but dread any confrontations as well. Since her head was throbbing, she opted to sleep in.
