Lost Wolf

A young women runs clutching a small infant to her chest. The wind is blowing hard against her but she keeps running. She shifts into a wolf and carries the child towards the human territory. She knows that her daughter will be safer outside of the pack. After the rouges had taken over all the pups were deemed unfit and the slaughtering began along with the remaining wolves. The wolf kept running and paused at the edge of the forest near a fire station. She had heard stories about humans leaving babies there and they would be safe. She set down the small infant and looking at her sleeping form. Good bye my dear I hope you have a better life. She thought as she disappered into the woods. A fireman came out for a smoke and heard crying. A storm was blowing in so it was cooler outside and no infant should be outside in this weather. He looked around and saw a small infant near the trees. He ran over and picked the infant up. Inside the pink blanket was a small little girl probably no more then three months old. He rushed her inside to warm her up. He didnt know how long she had been outside but she appeared to be fine. -16 years later- Harmony's POV The sun was shining as I opened my eyes. I often thought about why I was adopted. I always wondered if it was because I was unwanted or if something happened to my birth parents. My adoptive parents had me since I was found at four months old. In fact my adoptive dad was the fireman who found me. He told me that by the time he got me inside it started to down pour. "Harmony come on you're going to be late for school" my mom called from the kithen of our ranch style house. "Coming momma" I yelled as I jumped out of bed. I checked my phone and sure enough i was running late. I threw on a pair of dark blue legging with purple design. I then pulled on a white long tank top that covered my butt. Pulling my sweater over my head I grabbed my book bag and ran to the kitchen. "Eat before me go" mom ordered as she slid a breakfast sandwich across the island in the kitchen. I eat it quickly wishing I had more time before darting out the door. My best friend, Joshua, and his mom where already outside waiting on me. I climb into the back seat "thank you Mrs. Hanson for picking me up" I say as we pulled away. "Your very welcome dear. " Mrs Hanson said with a smile. She was a very petite women standing maybe 4'10. But she was so nice unless you got in trouble then watch out. We arrived at school and we hopped out of the car. I was so happy it was friday. Not only that but my birthday was sunday. My parents told me they pick that day because it was exactly 9 months after they found me. They also determind that I was only about 4 months when I was found. I had no papers on me no records in the hospital no proof that I was even born. It was very weird. Happy birthday A voice in my head said causing me to jump. I turn around and look around. Joshua gave me a confused look. "Did you lose something?" He asked looking around too. "No I heard someone say happy birthday. Well I thought I did" I say as Josh laughs. "You must have be hearing things because no one is around" he said as the warning bell rang. We ran into the school so we werent late for our first class. Before I knew it, the bell rang for lunch. I went down to the cafateria and found Josh. He was already in line waiting for pizza. How that man could have pizza everyday was beyond me. I grabbed a sandwich milk and a cookie. I wasnt really hungry today. I paid for it and went to sit down next to Josh. Harmony as they call you. That is beautiful. Your mom called you Hope The voice said again and I looked around again. "Josh i think I'm going crazy" I whisper and he looks up from his phone. "Hearing those voices again? Maybe aliens are trying to get you" he said with a roaring laugh. I laughed with him but started to wonder if I was really losing it. My dad picked me up from school. "Dad is it bad if you hear voices" I asked and he looked me at. "It can be but what do you mean by that?" He asked gently. I tried to explain it the best i could without sounding crazy. "Well Harmony just let your mom know so she can take you in" he said as well pulled into the driveway. I sighed and climbed out of the car. Later that night I told mom what i told dad and it didnt go so good. She freaked out and decided to take me to an urgent care. The people at urgent care told my mom that I was fine. Eveeything checked out great and if I kept hearing voices to take me to the mental hospital so they could watch me over night. You know hearing me is normal. My name is Lola. I'm your inner wolf. The voice said and I looked st my mom. "Mom can a person have an inner wolf" I ask and she gave me a look. " sweetheart maybe you should go to the hospital after your party on Sunday" my mom said. "I'm fine mom. The docotrs said I was good too so lets just wait" I say hoping to not hear this 'Lola' again. Sunday morning I wake up and walk into the kitchen. Saturday went by quickly as I spelt most of the day. "There's my birthday girl" my dad called out as he pulled me into a big bear hug. I hugged him back. "Guess what we are doing today?" He said smiling. "Celebrating my birthday" I say and he chuckles. "We are going to the water park today. We invited Joshs family too. I can't believe your seventeen" my dad said and I squealed. I loved being able to go to the water park.
