Chapter 8: The Funeral and more

Author note: hope you can picture her beautiful ring. Now it's time to solve the missing Harmony case. Lets see how everyone on the "human" side reacts to her case coming to a close.

Third person POV

"Early this morning police found a dismember body near the edge of the woods. Reports have been coming in about large bears being spotted in the area as well as some wolves. Sadly we have recieved word that the body has been identified as Harmony Johnson" the news reporter said across the tv. Harmonys adoptive parents where at the furneral home picking out a casket along side her best friend Josh. Her mother was crying and walked out of the building leaving the men to decide on a oak casket with a pink inside. "Harmony would have loved it" Josh said to Mr. Johnson who simply nodded. He was the one who found her when she was an infant. He stayed with her in the hospital for the first 24 hours to make sure she was ok. She was supposed to go into foster care but he fought to bring her home. By her first birthday him and his wife adopted Harmony as there baby. They were unable to have kids so it was bitter sweet. Now in just two days they would be burying their daugther. His wife wasnt doing well and they were talking about leaving the area to try and help with the healing process.

Josh was conviced that those giant wolves that him and his father hunted were the reason his best friend was dead. He still felt like something might not be right about everything but he figured he was in denial about her death.

Meanwhile, Harmony was rather upset seeing the new about her death. She knew Jayden had his reason but she felt bad for her parents. She was also excited because next week during the next full moon she was getting married. Jayden had drove her a state over to pick out her wedding dress. He didnt see it but Ember,Harmonys biological mother, had. Her dress was a beautiful ball gown shaped dress with half floral lace sleeves. It had a floral beaded design on the bust and going down the train. The train was three feet long and Harmony opted for a plain vail that went to her mid back. Everyone in the pack was excited for the wedding, marking and mating ceremony of their Alpha and Luna. The whole pack was helping get everything ready for the wedding.

Joshs POV

Two days had past since we picked out Harmonys casket. I walked into the funeral home and over to Harnonys parents. Her favorite purple and blue blanket was drapped over the closed casket. I noticed several people from our school who came to pay respects and some of Harmonys extended family was talking to her parents. I took a seat near the front and soon they were asking people to take a seat. The service started and soon they had people talking. Her father went up and told about how he found her as an infant outside his firehouse and how they adopted her. Then a few funny stories that made me blush because in was involved in them. Soon it was my turn. I walked up and looked around the room. "Harmony was like a sister to be. We always joked that I was a brother from another mother. We were very close and she even joked that when she got married I would be her maid of honor but since I couldnt be a maid I was be the sir of honor. But sadly I won't get to see her wedding because her life was cut to short. She was always there when I needed support and I always returned that favor. Rest easy Harmony until we meet again. " I say choking back tears. I walked over and touch her casket before returning to my seat. The pastor finished up with a prayer. "The family would like you to join them in the burial of Harmony. Please proceed to your cars and we will ask the pallbearers to come forward now." The lady from the funeral home said. Mr. Johnson a few of his work friends and me were the bearers.

We walked her out to the herst and then made our ways to the vehicles. After driving a short distance we arrived and pulled up near her grave plot. As I was climbing out I noticed something move just inside the wood line. I pushed it off and walked over to stand next to my mom. She was crying because she loved Harmony like a daugther. Soon they lowered her in and we said our last good bye before leaving.

Harmonys POV

I stood inside the woods. Josh had looked towards me and I had never seen him that upset. It pained me knowing they were not really burying me. That I was alive but they couldnt know that. Jayden stood next to me with his arms wrapped around me. "Its for the best love" he said before shifting back. We had to start finalizing what kind of cake and music we wanted at our wedding. He was the best man I could ever be with. I just wish I could hug everyone one last time. My mom looked the worst. She had bags under her eyes and blood shot eyes. It was heart breaking watching them lower the body down. I shift back and chase after Jayden.

We arrive at the pack house and we shift and change into our clothes before walking into the house. "So what flavor cake and what design did you want" an omega asked holding a note pad. I looked at Jayden who motioned for me to speak. "Lets go with a chocolate and white marble with white frosting. Make it pretty" I say smiling. Jayden smiles and whispers something to the omega that I didnt catch. She nodded and walked away. "Alright so who are we having stand in the wedding again?" He asked me as he pulled me into his office. "Your beta Alec and Ember. I dont really know any other shewolves to ask" I ask blushing a little. Jayden chuckled "sounds perfect" he said before pulling me into a kiss.

He had me helping with little things around the pack so I could get a custom to how the pack ran. I was also in classes with some of the pups to learn about the history and what to expect when you shift.

They were always so happy to see their Luna in the class with them and many of them loved me already.

I kissed Jayden back and he lifted my dress. He proceeded to finger f**k me until I was screaming his name. Then before I could return the favor there was a knock on the door.

Jayden let out a small growl while I composed myself. "Come in" he said shortly. Alec walked in and bowed. "Sorry to bother you Alpha but a few hunters have been spotted coming close to our area" he said and Jayden cursed under his breath. "Alright love, Ally will be in later to get final mesurments for your dress and to finalize a few more things with the wedding." He said before kissing my cheek and following Alec out.

I decided to go for a walk around the pack house while I was waiting. I walked back after saying hi to a couple of the pups I decided on something. Most of the pups in the class with me were 6-8 years old. We only had about 10 of them. Since I couldnt link to Jayden yet I looked for Ember. She had just recently joined the pack and could link with everyone. Most of the pack were happy to hear from her again. I had just learned that my mom was Luna of the pack before Jaydens father took over and killed most of the original pack. I was so glad that Jayden was nothing like his dad.

Ember turned the corner and I almost ran into her. "Oh I'm so sorry dear" Ember said with a small chuckle. I smiled and chuckled as well. "Actually I was looking for you. I wanted to ask Jayden something but I cant link yet" I say with a small blush. "I wanted to ask him about flower girls and ring bearers" I say softly. Ember's face lit up when I said that and her eyes went cloudy. "He said sure you can ask the pups if they wanted to be in the wedding" she says and I smile. "How did you know" I ask and she smiles "the way you look at them I figured that crossed your mind. Your gonna be a great mom when the time comes. Trust me it can happen quickly. That is how your eldest brother came to be" she said with a chuckle and I blushed. It was still weird to think that Ember was my actual mom. She was fine with me calling her Ember because she said she gave up the right to be called mom when she gave me up to protect me.

I thanked her before walking towards the pack housing. I wanted to ask each pups parents first before asking them.

After a few hours of talking with all of them and asking the pups my wedding party grew from only two to twevele. All ten pups wanted to be in the wedding and the parents were excited that I asked. They said no Luna that they ever heard of had ever asked anyone out side of close friends to be in their weddings.

I walked into mine and Jaydens room and heard a knock. "Come in" I call out and a thin red headed lady comes in with a clip board. "Luna" she bows " I have been looking for you. I need to finish sizing your dress then I need the names of each of the newest bridal party members" she said. I list off all the kids and tell her the girls can pick pink or purple and the boys are going to be in light blue. Soon I had my wedding dress over my head and pins in it has she finished fitting it to me. "Now for your maid of honor. She is in dark purple long dress with no sleeves right" she asked and I nodded. "Cake is marbled chocolate and vanilla. Music is pop" she asks and again I just nod.

"Flowers?" She asks and I freeze. I'm so thankful Jayden had a planner for us. "I want red and white roses. Purple around the handle. For the groom I was a single red rose with a green leaf behind" I say smiling. She nods and writes it all down. "For the kids if you could get purple and pink rose petals for them to throw. For the boys have witty signs for Jayden to read" I say and the planner laughs. "You are very special Luna. Those kids and their families will never forget this." She said smiling before helping me back out of my dress. Another older lady came and grabbed the dress to start heming it for the wedding day.

Third POV

Meanwhile Alpha Jayden, Beta Alec and about a dozen warriors are going towards the hunter sighting. Jayden leads the pack and is naturally the largest of the wolves. He stands 6'6 in human form and stands 6'4 at the shoulder in wolf form. He lets out a howl to hopefully get the hunters to back off. He had only ever killed hunters one time because they wouldnt back off. Soon Jayden approached a man and stared him down. He growled loud as the man pulled up his gun. Jayden straighten up more and let out a larger growl getting ready to attack the man when... BANG.

Harmonys POV

I was so caught up in the wedding planning that I didnt have time to wonder about Jayden. He was gone for a while now and the clock on the wall read 7:30pm. Normally they were back by now. Walking down to dinner I heard a shot ring out not far from the pond. My heart started to ache as I felt something might be wrong.

I walked into the dinning hall and everyone was gathered for dinner. I could hear the murmers from the upper pack families. Only the Alphas, Betas, and gamma families were allowed to stay at the pack house.

I walked over to my usual seat and stood for a second. "I know you are all worried about the shot that we just heard. Seeing as I still cant link to the Alpha I'm not for use what is happening. But I can assure you that the Alpha and Beta will take care of the problem and be home by bed time" I say almost trying to convince myself. Ember gives me a small thumbs up as I sit down to start dinner. I knew I had to eat something for the families at the table. I was starting to get an upset stomach because of how much I was worried something bad happened.

Not even twenty minutes into the meal Alec rushes into the dinning room. "Luna we need you now" he said causing me to knock my chair over as I stood up. I raced after him and down the stairs. Two of the warriors where dragging a bearly conscious Jayden towards the pack hospital. His side of covered in blood. He looked very pale as I ran towards him. Tears fell down my face as I follwed the warriors inside. The doctor immediately took him back for surgery. "Alec please keep everyone except Ember out of the hospital until they need medical attention" I say and he nods. "Luna, one of the elders needs to talk to you about what is going on" Alec mentions and I now. "Allow him or her to pass as well. Any others who are injured?" I ask and I see Alecs face fall. "We lost two and one other is also in critical condition" he said. "Allow their families inside." I say and he nods. Soon I see three families come into the lobby where I was. Alec informed me that he was going to tell the two families whos loved ones passed. I nodded and followed him. He informed them and they broke down. They were glad that I had come with the Beta to tell them. Turning around I see and older gentlemen sitting in the corner. He had white hair and looked rather frail. "That is Elder Thomas" Alec said and I nod.

"Good evening future Luna. I must talk to you about the pack. Since you are not the Luna yet we must push leadership over to Beta Alec until it is decided if Alpha Jayden will be able to continue as Alpha of the pack. " he said and I nodded. "Their isnt a way to make me Luna is there" I ask hoping i didnt disrespect him.

"Sadly my dear unless you and the alpha are marked I can't hand over that title to you." He said with sadness in his eyes. I could tell he was very wise and wanted what was best for the pack.

"Beta Alec please join us" I called out and he walked over.

"Beta Alec please take a knee. I, Elder Thomas James, pass the title of temporary Alpha to Beta Alec. Beta Alec do you accept the title Alpha Alec until it is decided that Alpha Jayden can continue as true Alpha." Elder Thomas said placing a hand on Alecs shoulder. "I accept" he said before letting out a small gasp. I could feel his aura change. "Alpha Alec rise and go address your pack" Elder Thomas said.

Alec looked to me and I followed him. "I can address the pack first. If you want" i say and Alec shakes his head. "I will address them. Just stand by me" he said as we pushed open the doors. Many of the pack members where gathering outside.

"Fellow pack member as most of you know if something ever happens to the Alpha the beta takes over the pack" Alec started and many gasps could be heard. "Sadly, Alpha Jayden has been injured and he is unable at this time to take charge. Elder Thomas has pronounced me temporary Alpha. As Alpha I will protect you and keep you safe until Alpha Jayden is able to take back over. Please be respectful to future Luna Harmony. We will give updates on Alpha Jayden as we see fit." He said and many murmers could be heard. "Alpha Jayden had this put into affect if anything ever happened to him. He is still alive and please pray for him to heal quickly. I know this isnt normal but Alpha Alec is the best choice. I am not your official Luna yet and even if I was I don't understand all your ways so Alpha Alec would have taken over either way. Now please exscue me while I go to check on the status of Alpha Jayden" I say to the pack before placing a hand on Alecs shoulder. "You got this Alpha" I say with a smile. I walked back to the waiting area. I was waiting to hear about Jayden. I just hoped that we wouldnt end up losing him. I couldn't lose him and my family this close together.
