chapter 14: False Alarm

Third person POV

Harmony mind linked everyone in the pack. 'Everyone please take shelter. This is not a drill. The pack is under attack. Warriors to your posts. Women and children to the pack house, elders to the pack house. Full alert by order of Alpha Jayden'. After she cuts the link several pack members raced into the pack house. Harmony stands gaurd outside helping anyone who needs it. She knows some moms are warriors and have to leave after getting their pups to the pack house. While all of this was going on at the pack house Jayden and Caleb ran up on Cheyenne. Wolfie, the black wolf, was growling at Cheyenne but not attacking. She stood her ground but Jayden and Caleb soon wedged between her and Wolfie. 'Cheyenne go report to the Luna. Protect the pack house' Caleb instructed and Cheyenne nodded before racing off. Jarred had vanished and Jayden knew this. He was already planning on talking to him.

Back at the pack house several wolves were coming to Harmony for instruction. She started directing everyone to different areas. Keeping several close to the pack house while some where put inside to help watch the pups. She tried to get a few of the moms who had pups inside to go inside while having some outside. Cheyenne arrived and was directed inside because she wasnt a main warrior. Harmony ended up shifting and taking turn gaurding the front of the pack house.

Back in the forest Jayden was trying to reason with Wolfie. "Shift so we can talk" he yells feeling rather frustrated. Suddenly a witch starts cackling. "Oh master Jayden my minions are unable to shift. I do this so I can control them better" the witch says. "Cassandra I should have known you would be behind this" Jayden said. The witch Cassandra chackled more. "Dont worry we arent attack this time. I was testing the waters and wanted to see my dear old friends son. You have grown" she comments before laughing againm Jayden let out a growl. "I would say your patrols are good but you have quite the coward on your hands. Love the dedication" she says before leaving with her minions.

Jaydens POV

As Cassandra leaves I turn to Caleb. 'Get me Jarred' I mind link him. Caleb nods before racing off. Cassandra was a blast from the past. She had worked for my father. He had been almost invincible with her by his side but then he decied he didnt need her. She had then put a curse on him. It caused him to be bitter and unhappy until his death. I had started thinking it was on me too until I met Harmony. Cassandra was my dad's Secret. No one besides my mom and I knew about her. She was someone who was smart and cunning but could also take down a pack. 'Alpha I have Jarred. Gamma Crane has him in your office' Caleb links me. I race off towards the pack house. My anger slowly rising as I approach. Harmony was waiting for me. She probably could feel the anger as I reached the steps. "Are we under attack?" She asked me and I shook my head. "No yet but we need to stay on alert. I have an issue that I need to take care of" I say giving her a kiss before walking to my office. As I walked in i dismissed Gamma Crane. I took a seat and looked a Jarred. He looked uncomfortable and looked like he was starting to sweat. There is a knock and i fold my hands. "Come in Beta Caleb" I say as Caleb comes in and stands behind me. "What were you thinking Jarred?" I say as calmly as possible. "I didnt think anything was wrong" he said almost nonchalantly causing my blood to boil. "What is the code for patrols when they see routes or anything out of the ordinary?" Caleb asks Jarred. He shallows and shifts sides to side in his chair. "Let the Alpha know or the beta know you saw something" he says softly. "Thats right now why didnt you report the wolves and why did you run off when they approach?" Caleb asked and Jarred started to studder some response and i lost it. "I DONT WANT TO HEAR YOUR EXCUSES THIS TIME" I bellow causing even Caleb to whine a little. "I cant stand a coward. If you were under my father he would banish you." I say and Jarred looks down. He had caused problems before his adittue. "I am stripping you of patrol and you will become an omega." I say as he goes to say something. "Your dismissed" I say waving a hand before turning my chair around. I hear the door open then close. "He messes up again Caleb he is gone" I say and Caleb nods. "I need to address the pack. Please have them gather in front of the pack house" I say before leaving to go find Harmony.

I spent a few minutes with the pups before take Harmony to go address the pack. Everyone stopped talking as we walked up.

Harmonys POV

Jayden had requested me to join him. He was going to give a speech to the pack. We walked outside and almost immediately everyone stopped talking. Jayden looked around and gave my hand a squeeze. "Pack I have gathered you because we are under threat. " He says and many pack members gasp. "We are under threat from a witch. I ask everyone to please be aware of your surrounding. We are a strong pack and i know we will over come. Women and children are to stay at the pack house. Nurse maids and omegas are here to help watch them. I understand that you have jobs and i expect you all to keep them up. " He said looking around. I have his hand a squeeze. He looked at me and smiles. " your Luna and I are here to keep you all safe but I cant sugar coat it. We are going to lose pack members. We are going to war and death sadly comes with that territory but I will do everything in my power to keep everyone safe. We are a strong pack and i know we will prevail." He said as the pack started clapping. Jayden always had a way with words. "As Luna I will protect the pack house and be the center of control. If you have questions please come to me" I say as Jayden nods. "Your Luna will always be at the pack house and she will send out alerts if you need to take shelter due to an attack. We are expecting the attack any time within the week so be prepared. You are all dismissed" Jayden said. He then lead me back inside and we talked about a few things. I just hoped that the pack and Jayden would be ok.
