Chapter12

***Bear*** I was restless. It had been a week since I saw Piper. Bash had been giving me updates, and he showed up at the clubhouse today because we needed to go over some business. We have a run coming up for one of the rich yuppies looking for extra security on his shipment of firearms. I don't deal them out; I offer protection, and that's it. It pays well, as these higher-ups will pay anything to keep their cargo safe. The strip club that we shut down reopened last night. We still have no more information on who dealt out the drugs. The other thing is figuring out what to do with Carrier. She trashed the place the night I was called back, and she broke Roxie's nose. I may not sleep with the club girls, but they have their reasons for being here. We don't mistreat them. We don't make them do s****l things out in the open; that's all behind closed doors. The guys know I don't allow them to manhandle them, either. If one of the girls shows up with marks on her, that guy is out. No matter who they are, the girls also have the right to say no if one of the guys wants something and the girl doesn't. They are not to be forced. They are humans as well. Just because they choose the club life does not make them any less than others. Like any other club, there is a pecking order among the women. The old ladies are at the top. Then come the club girls, and within that group, they have their own lineup. Roxie has been here since the start; she was here before Carrier came into my life. She knows I want nothing to do with Carrier anymore, so she wasn't about to bow down to her when she came in demanding things. My door swung open as Bash walked in. He took a seat in one of the chairs. I was about to say something when he held up one hand. "Before you ask, she's doing fine. She's up and moving around the house independently, and her bruises are looking better each day." "That's good. I'm glad to hear she's up and moving." He nodded his head. "She's still slightly withdrawn, but I think she needs time. Molly says this is the first time she's been away from that guy since college, so she's trying to figure out what she should do. But she'll get there in time." "Good." I grabbed one of the papers and handed it over to him. As much as I wanted to talk about Piper, I needed to make sure I was covering my business, too. "I'm calling church one hour. We need to put together a group to cover that run, and I want to add more security at the club now that it reopened last night. I don't want another issue there," I told him as he looked over the paper. "Wow, they have a larger load this time. It's going to take more men to cover it properly." "Yeah. I want the prospects to cover the club and the senior members on the protection detail. I don't want any screw-ups; they pay good money, and I don't want to f**k that income up." "Alright. Let's check in with Roach and Gunner; have them put together a group." "Sounds good. Next is what to do with Carrier," I said, all but spitting her name out. He lifted a brow. "Simple, man, ban her. She's nothing but trouble, and you know that firsthand. Look what she did to Roxie, and that girl has been here longer than she has." Pinching my nose, I said, "I know, but Joy came to me this morning. She doesn't want to lose her sister; they came here together." "They can see each other outside club property. She doesn't have to be here." I nodded my head. "That's true." "Man, don't let that woman get back in your head. She f****d everything up last time," he said, a little harsher than usual. If he weren't my best friend, I would have knocked him one for being disrespectful. I looked up at him. He'd never liked Carrier, not from the start. He always warned me she was only after status and my money. "I know. I don't plan on letting her get to me again; last time was the final straw. She slept with another MC president, so I'm done. I just don't want to hurt Joy. It's not her fault her sister is bat-s**t crazy." "I get it, man, I do. But that's trouble you don't want. You know she won't follow any rules; she thinks she's above everyone else, even the old ladies. Look what happened with Gunner: his old lady almost killed Carrier." Sitting back, I couldn't argue with him. She caused drama everywhere she went, and once she got her hooks in me, she became uncontrollable toward the other women here, not just the club girls, but everyone. She was always claiming I was cheating on her when I checked in with one of the clubs. She threatened the tattoo artist because she did a piece on my arm. Hell, she even attacked a girl for bringing me a beer I'd asked for. "Alright, I'll tell Joy Carrier can't be on club property. But they can see each other off-site anytime, and she can come to family gatherings as long as she behaves. Any acting out, and she's banned from it all." "I'm fine with that. If she gets out of hand, I'm sure Gunner and Roach will volunteer to handle her," he said, smiling. "That's settled." Checking the time, I saw it was about three in the afternoon. "Let's grab a beer, then call church. I'm ready for this day to be over." I stood up, and I heard him chuckle. "You mean you're ready to see a certain tiny brown-eyed beauty." "f**k off," I told him as we walked out toward the common area. Not too many people were here yet; usually, they filter in later, but I'd sent out a text saying church was at four. They should all be piling in soon. "Hey, Prez, VP. What can I get you?" Joy asked as we stopped at the bar. "Two coolers," I told her. She grabbed them, popped the caps, and slid them across the bar to us. "Hey, Joy, look. Your sister. I can't let her on club property, but you can see her off of it anytime. And for a family get-together, she can come as long as she minds herself." Joy nodded. "I get it, Prez. My sister can be a handful. I'm sorry about the other night. I had no idea she would show up here. She hasn't been in town in over two weeks, then she just pops in like it's nothing." "Joy, how are you two, sisters? I mean, you're so different," Bash said to her. It was true, those two were like night and day. Carrier was crazy, and Joy was just like her name: sweet and kind. She helped out the most around here, never fought with anyone, and never said mean things to others. "You know, Bash, I've been asking myself that my whole life," she said. "But in the end, she's my sister. Even though she drives me nuts, she's the only blood family I have left." She gave us a weak smile. Then she looked at me. "I'll respect your decision, Prez. Thank you for thinking it over and allowing her to attend some with me." "You're welcome, Joy. Just remember, you have plenty of family here. You're not on your own." She gave a small smile and moved down the bar to finish what she was doing when we came out. I could hear them before I saw them, and just then, the door opened, and they all began to fall in. Nosie Ass Fuckers the whole lot of them.
