Chapter 6

2131 Words
Kris POV Rose sure is some woman. First, her daughter gets thrown in jail for hitting a cop and now this happens. What a strange coincidence that I was even there to see it. If I hadn’t, this would have been the s**t show to wake up to on a Sunday morning. I head out to see Peter putting Rose into the back of a cop car. Waving a small and polite hello to the police officers, I make my way over to Peter. “I’m sorry about this, Peter.” I sincerely let him know that I didn’t mean for our dinner to be ruined. It seems like this stuff happens more often when you’re dealing with big-named cases. “It’s our job.” He gives me that wicked grin that lets me know he’s not upset with me. “They said thanks by the way.” I tell him as we head over to the car. “And they thought you were my husband.” Peter stops abruptly mid-walk. Slowly turning to look at my face to see if I am being serious, he burst out laughing. Continuing to walk again, we make it to my car before he finally gets out what he wants to say. “And what did you tell them?” I scoff at him. Sitting in the driver’s seat, I turn on the car before facing him. “You think I would let Liam know you’re off the market?” We both laugh at this. Liam is also gay and he’s not exactly afraid of it either. I don’t know if it ever impeded his career. If if did, he never showed it. Peter used to look up to how Liam was able to be openly gay and made millionaires with his skill set. Liam was kind of Peter's idol when he had to reevaluate his life. “So, are you going to set us up?“ I roll my eyes at him before shaking my head. “I don’t think that I can swing that Peter, but I did say they owed you a dinner at 71Above for the mishap at the restaurant.” My taunting tone makes him more excited about it. This is just like him. He always falls too fast and too hard for love. I know their reputation and having met them in person, I know that they're not exactly looking to settle down. If Liam was interested in Peter, I know that it would last a short amount of time. I can't see that happen to Peter. "When?!" "I don't think you should take up on their offer, anyways." I smile at him. "They're huge playboys and I don't want to see you getting hurt." "I can take care of myself." Peter gives me one of his childish pouts in mockery, to which I chuckle out. "I never said you couldn't, but my gut tells me that they're not ready to settle down right now. If you want Liam, you should wait to take up on their offer. Play the long game." I advise Peter as I genuinely think that it's the best route for him to take. "You're right." Peter leans back into the seat as I turn into my parking garage. I park the car and say my goodbyes to Peter before making it in myself. That's when I see him, Andrew. Are you kidding me with this? Right now? "I see you have been busy." Rolling my eyes at him, I cross my arms on my chest at him. He's standing in the apartment complex lobby across from me and shows me his phone, which shows that I was at the restaurant when everything went down. "I don't see how that's any of your business." I really thought that nobody saw me especially when I got the staff to clear the floor. I bet one of the staff members took a photo or video of my encounter with Rose and posted it. Jenny will have to help me get that sorted out tomorrow. "I always knew you had high standards, Kris, but going for one of the founders of Bishops Technologies really takes the cake." I scoff at him. "Jealous much?" I c**k my head over at him to see him fuming with a bit of anger. "I didn't think you were a gold-digger too." "Andrew." I stop him from going too far. "Does it look like I have money issues?" With that, I step into the elevator to go up. I have had enough of him. This has gone on for too long and this borderlines stalking now. I'm going to have to talk to Peter about what he can do about this. He has seen firsthand how persistent Andrew has been since college. Now that everything is over with Keegan, I hardly doubt that I will be seeing any of them anytime soon. Maybe this will all calm down after a couple of weeks. And then, Andrew can leave me the hell alone. Kane POV The moans from the brunette underneath me on the couch echoes through the living room, but it has been echoing for quite some time. Not seeming to be able release, I try my best to not let my brain wander. If my imagination takes over, I would just feel like s**t. f**k. I can't stop it. Thinking about her soft hair and the smell of strawberries, I think of her. Kris. Thrusting now faster into the brunettte, I finally feel my urges trying to release. Her breasts flash through my mind and that sweet voice of hers ring through my head as I finally c*m into the girl that I am currently f*****g. "f**k!" She screams out as I feel her walls crush down on mine as I finish. Yanking her off the couch and onto the floor, I fall on my back with a thud. s**t. I was really hoping tonight would be different. "Get out." I tell her more harshly than I have to the others, irritated at what happened. This can't keep happening. She struggles to get up or comprehend my words to her. Closing my eyes and calming my breathing, I whistle and Magnus comes barking. The girl gets scared and quickly grabs some clothes before rushing out. Magnus doesn't bite unless on command, but his bark is pretty loud. Fuck. I can't believe I thought of her again. Since we met about a month ago, I haven't been able to f**k anyone without thinking of her. Well, I haven't been able to c*m without thinking about her. It's so frustrating that I feel like my body is on fire all the damn time. No matter how many women I bring home, they're just substitutes for her. She's off-limits, I remind myself, like I do every time this happens. Keegan has finally agreed to move to Bel-Air and we are supposed to help him tomorrow. I need to get some rest before that happens. Maybe then I can talk Keegan into not making her off-limits. Jessica stopped all contact about a week ago. Not sure if she has a plan hatching, but I sincerely doubt it. She's probably looking for the next man to trap. The next morning, I am up by six in the morning and hit the boxing gym in my home. This is where I get most of my frustrations out unfortunately. The women help, but it's nothing like the boxing gym. After that, I take a shower and get ready. Making my way down the street, we had reserved one of the mansions for Keegan in the event that this day ever came. Elijah is one smart son of a b***h. He bought the house with the intention of always giving it to Keegan if he ever needed it. "Hey!" Liam waves over to me as they start carrying the boxes and furniture off one of the dozen pickup trucks on the street. Keegan has a s**t ton of things, despite throwing out a decent amount too. "Looks like you guys started without me." I say as I grab a box from the truck and start helping out. "Barely." Hunter lets me know as he is still on his phone with someone. Returning to his call, he turns around and walks down the street, away from us. That's kind of strange, but I shake it off. "Did I see a girl run out of your place last night?" Elijah quips and raises his eyebrows at me with wickedness in his eyes. "Yeah. What else is new?" "You know, it's okay to let them stay the night." Keegan gestures at me but I shake my head. I'm not doing that again. "They're not Nora." Liam reminds me as I grip hard at the boxes that I am holding. "Nor are they a substitute for her." "Trust me." I drop the box inside the living room and take in my surroundings. "They're not in place of Nora." Shuddering at my own words, I can feel the uncomfortableness of even saying her name, hearing her name. If I hear her name again, I may break all of Keegan's furniture and I don't think he would appreciate moving inside a home without anything in it. Plus, I am not exactly lying. That girl last night was more of a substitute for Kris than anyone else. "Whatever you say man." We finish up taking a couple of boxes when I realize that Hunter hasn't been around to help for over thirty minutes. "Has anyone seen Hunter?" I ask after we are all in the living room. The movers are still moving everything in and out, but we look around and we are all shaking our heads. There is no way that one phone call took him away for that long. If it was work related, he would have pulled us into it. "Call him." Liam suggests and I grab my phone to call him, only for it to go to voicemail after a couple of rings. That's weird. He is always on his phone or has his watch with him. I wonder if it's something serious. "Voicemail." I reply back to the others as we all have puzzled looks on our faces. "Let us try." One by one, each of them call Hunter only to receive the same result. This starts to concern me and I start texting him. "Dude, where are you?" After waiting another ten minutes, he has not responded to any of our messages. We got the movers to stop moving the stuff and look around for him. This is weird. Why did he disappear like that? He would have said something to us if he needed to leave. What could possibly make him leave and not say anything to anyone? "Get to my office. Now." Woah. That's unlike him. What is so important that he has to group text us to go to the f*****g office on a Saturday? We look up from our phones to see that we have all decided to go along with it. We use Elijah's car to drive to the city, but it's a far drive so we speculate with one another what Hunter could possibly want. "Did anyone even see him leave?" Keegan asks from the passenger seat. We all say no, but I can feel that we are all jittery. I just want to know what the hell is going on. Once we get to the foot of our building, we rush to the top floor to Hunter's office, but a familiar scent stops me in the tracks. "No." I let out as I freeze in my tracks. That's not f*****g possible. Nobody else uses that fragrance. "What is it?" Elijah says as he is about to open the door to Hunter's office, but I already know who is on the other side. Shaking my head with absolute anger, I walk slowly up to the door and open it to see her. My ex. "Hello Kane." Her arrogant voice brings a cold shiver down my spine. I look over to Hunter and he seems pissed but there's more to the story here. I walk in with the other three who seem absolutely surprised to see the woman before us. "What the hell is she doing here?" Liam yells at Hunter for letting her come into this building. I grip my hands into a fist staring at her seductive smirk. Something is different though, she looks like she has something up her sleeves. "She has some news." Hunter says gritting his teeth. He can't stand her, none of us can, me more so but still. "Hello." I respond back to her. "Nora."
