Chapter 4:
Madeline hesitated for a second. It felt like her father would appear right in front of her, alive and strong, if she opened the letter.
She took a deep breath, then carefully opened it and started reading it aloud.
[ My forever flower, if you are holding this letter, then it means that I am dead and gone forever but be rest assured that I'll be with you in your heart.]
Madeline's eyes welled up in tears again. It's been a week but the events of that fateful day kept replaying in her head.
[ I really hoped you'd never read this letter but as it stands now, this is my only way of giving you the answers to the questions you've always asked me. I know that whatever you go through, you will endure and win in the end.
You are the happiest thing that has happened to me, after your mother and I know you will hold on, no matter how it hurts.]
Chad saw how hurt the Princess was and the tears streaming down her face. He spoke gently to her. “My Princess, you could stop for a moment..”
“No, I'll continue.” Madeline nodded.
[Now, going to the most important part of this letter. You have always asked about your mother even when you were so little.
Your mother was a woman of strength and vigour. She wasn't just a one night stand which a lot of people think. Your mother was more than that. She was one in a kind but she had to leave for your safety.
I didn't say anything to you because I wanted to keep you with me but seeing how things have turned out now, you have to fight sword with sword and blood with blood.
My forever flower, you are more than special and I say that because you were born from the union of an Alpha werewolf and Vampire. You are a hybrid.]
Both Madeline and Chad gasped in shock, trying to take in the revelation.
“Hybrid? Vampire?”
Chad's eyes widened in shock. “This is very rare… There was no way that your father could have met with a vampire. The two species have been at war with each other for so many centuries. Vampires are the rarest but very dangerous species that we have.”
Madeline stood there completely speechless and taken aback. Of course, there wasn't much she could do but think. All her life, she had questioned her father about her origin and now, she was finding out that she was born from two different species of creatures who hated each other.
“It's unbelievable that your father and mother defied the curse between these two species and birthed a special being such as you. A hybrid.”
[I'm sorry that you had to find out this way about your origin but now that you know, I'll advise you to head to Blackwood forest to find your mother. She knows that you'll be looking for her.”
Please be safe, my forever flower.
Your father, Alpha Jaxon]
For some minutes, Madeline couldn't get herself to talk as she was still trying to assimilate everything she had read.
“You have to be strong, my Alpha.” Chad bowed, trying to comfort her. Madeline was so glad that at least she had someone by her side. It was heart relieving.
Then suddenly, fierce and loud sounds of guards footsteps filled their ears, etching through the courtyard.
“The Princess! She's leaving.” One of the guards who caught them screamed on top of his voice, attracting others to the scene.
Madeline's heart beat faster as she looked unto Chad for help. “s**t! What should we do now? They'll catch up with us.”
“You have to leave my princess. You have to run away, right now.” Chad said, assessing the environment, his eyes darting from one place to another. “Run towards that direction, I'll hold them back.” Chad was pointing in the same direction where she'd been warned never ever to cross since she was little.
“But.. I can't leave you here.”
“There's no time to even think, you have to go now or you'll get into trouble. It was my honour to serve Alpha Jaxon and you. Run Madeline and never look back!”
Tears filled Madeline's eyes as she waved him goodbye knowing fully well that she was never going to see him again. She took a deep breath and with one nod, she transformed into her wolf form, a giant black wolf with beautiful blue eyes.
She ran towards the mountain side, not turning around even for one second. She was now sprinting into her future, a place that held more peace and joy for her.
Chad, seeing that she was gone, turned to face the guards who had by now surrounded him. The look in his eyes showed that he was ever ready to protect her at all costs.
He was disappointed at how Kai now had control over the minds of these people who served Jaxon with their heart.
“It pains me to see how lowly we have become because of that bastard, Kai. I cannot and will never support the reign of Kai.” He screamed, transforming into black wolf with grey eyes.
Soon, the guards were all lunching at him, all together. “I'll kill.. you.. all..”
