Alpha Erubas POV
One month later
The past one month has been difficult for me and has also been one of the best months of my life. I have developed feelings for Sophie, and she has been a good girlfriend to me. Well, my people kept pestering me to get a woman again, but I don't really know if I'm ready for this. I'm still scared about the curse. What if she does like others? I can't afford to take another life again, which is what I've been emphasizing since.
It's a beautiful Sunday morning, and since I have nowhere to go, I decided to stay at home and get some rest. I have been avoiding the Pack since they won't stop talking about my mate each time I went there.
After I had a long relaxing bath in the bathroom and walk back into my room, I find my phone screen light on, with a message displayed on the screen.
"Did I get a mail from the company?" I mumble as I walk over to the bed and pick up the phone while drying my hair with a towel. I stop when I see that the message is from Sophie.
'Hey, babe. I am on my way to your house. Make me something delicious. I'm famished' I blink my eyes rapidly as I read the message over and over again. After I brought her to my house, she has been wanting to come here every weekend, and it's freaking me out. To her, she is my girlfriend and can visit my home anytime, but to me, she's someone I need to stay miles away from, even though we are dating, and will end up together later. I just need to protect her, but she won't even understand that.
The phone suddenly starts ringing, and I gulp down nothing nervously before I answer the call.
"Hey, babe! I've been ringing the bell, and nobody is answering me," She whines as soon as I answer the phone, and I sigh silently as I rub my forehead.
"Uhm... I'll be there shortly," I reply to her before the call ends, and I sigh briefly as I drop my phone on the bed. Furthermore, I change into a casual dress, before I head downstairs to let her in.
I bit my lip nervously and gulp down nothing before I finally pull the door open, and there she is, looking as sexy and hot as always. She's going to drive me nuts staying around me like that, but will she not think that I'm pushing her away if I tell her how I much I want her and also want her to stay away from me?
"Good morning, baby. I have missed you so much," She squeaks excitedly as she throws herself in my arms and hugs me tightly like her life depends on it. Yes, I love how she acts addicted to me, I love the way she's crazy about me, but I'm scared.
"Why? You don't look happy to see me. You didn't want me here? Are you cheating on me? Who do you have in there?" She pulls away from me and inquires, looking so serious.
"Huh? Of course, not. I'm not cheating on you," I reply to her as I turn and head back inside, and she trails behind me.
"I know. I was just teasing you. Did you make something for me? I told you I was famished," She asks as she throws herself on the couch, and crosses her legs, but I only stare at her, admiring her perfection. Since as a werewolf, we only deal with fated mates, I never got to know the type of woman I want, but I think I know now. Sophie is the woman any man would die to be with. She is my type of woman. I don't know how I suddenly became like this because of her, and although I never liked loud women, I find myself crazy about her.
"Not yet," I reply to her casually as I sit on the couch beside her, but she only rolls her eyes.
"Come on, babe. Am I not trying, huh? It has been one month already, but nothing has changed. We haven't made any progress in the relationship except for the fact that you brought me to your home. Why are you always stiff?" She complains again, and I bite my bottom lip.
"Don't even go about telling me you will change again, because you've been saying that like forever. When do you plan to improve, huh?" He sighs frustratingly.
"Tell me what I should do to make you loosen up. I know it's hard since it's your first time being in a relationship, but I'm ready to put you through. I don't really know what to do again," She mumbles sadly as she drops her head, and I sigh.
"I'm... I'm sorry," I mutter, but I know it won't help. Every still feels weird, so I'm trying to adjust to it.
I watch as she stands up from the couch and walks over to sit with me, but I draw away from her.
"Look at you. How do you expect to improve if you're scared of me coming close to you, huh? I know it's hard, but can you relax, huh?" She asks calmly as she stares into my eyes like she's trying to see through me. I feel my heart freeze in my chest for seconds, my throat itches so badly, and I feel my heart hammering against my chest. I gulp down the lump that formed in my throat.
"Uhm..." I pause and try to turn my face away, but she holds my chin and turns my face to her again, and as her finger touches me, I feel this crazy tingling sensation run through my body.
"Don't look away when I'm talking. Stare into my eyes when we are together, ok?" She whispers, and I slowly nod my head like a baby obeying his mother. I have lost my sense, and I know that. An Alpha is not supposed to be like this, you would say, but have you fallen so deeply in love with someone, and yet scared of falling harder? Have you wanted someone so badly and yet wants to push the person away? That is how I feel now. I want her, my wolf wants to take her, but we can't, because of the fear of losing her.
"Babe..."
"Uhm... Why don't we go out and have fun? Maybe go out on an ice cream date, or what do you think?" I quickly stand up and change the topic.
"Are you kidding me? We should go out on an ice cream date? I came here to spend time with you since it's Sunday today. I..."
"I know that... I mean, that's why I asked us to go out on a..."
"It's fine. I'll just go back home. I'll see you in the office tomorrow," She stands up and grabs her bag before she storms out of my house, slamming the door behind her. I should go after her and maybe beg her, but I feel there's no need for that. I mean, I should take this time to recover from the awkward moment we just had...
