CHAPTER 12 Gunner stopped at Brenda’s apartment to pick her up. He had called her the night before to remind her they would be leaving early. He just hoped she was ready. He knocked on her door and waited. There was no answer. He knocked again. He heard someone mumble something inside. When the door opened, he was surprised to see Brenda dressed and ready to go. “I was just finishing my packing,” said Brenda with a smile. She stood back to let Gunner enter.
