Thalia POV Hi my name is Thalia Fernandes. I am 17 years old. I am from South Africa and I live in Durban. I turn 18 next week. I live with my mom and her brother. My mom's name is Thea Fernandes and my uncle's name is Alejandro de Gouveia. I never knew my father. He died in a car crash when I was 1 year old. We moved around a lot till I was about 7 years old, mom always said that it is because she never liked the places we stayed in so we moved around a lot. My mom now runs her own restaurant in Durban called Carlos's place. She named it after my father. She said that he was the love of her life. Mom never remarried after Dad died, so she keeps herself mostly busy with the restaurant. The restaurant is doing quite well so we are not struggling at all. My uncle Alejandro is Mom's older brother, he stays with us. I call him uncle Ale for short. He runs his own security company and he installs his own security cameras. Uncle Alejandro was married once before but he doesn't talk about his deceased wife so I don't know anything about her. Uncle Alejandro and Mom are also expert fighters. They have been training me since I was 6 years old and I have been loving every minute of it. They said that they want me to be able to protect myself in case something happens. My best friend Becky has also been training with us since I met her. She lives in the house right next to mine. My other best friend Sophie is not so much into fighting. She is the bookworm out of the three of us. Sophie lives in the house across the street. Most of the time we hang out at my place and sometimes when you least expect it, they would just invite themselves over to our house. "They might as well just live here too!" is what Uncle Alejandro always says. Sophie, Becky and I have been best friends since primary school "Ugh!... I still think we should go out to a club for your birthday!" says my best friend Becky. "You only turn 18 once! Come on!" Becky, Sophie and I are now on our way to Carlos's for our Friday night shift. "Becky you know my mom and Uncle Ale wouldn't like us going out to clubs! You know how protective they are of me!" We have been discussing my birthday party since leaving my house! "We can convince them of how fun it will be! We'll talk to your mom when we get to the restaurant." says Becky. "I actually think it's a good idea!" suddenly Sophie speaks, who has been quiet this whole time. I look at Sophie in the rearview mirror. I ask her "really Soph not you too!!" Sophie looks up from the book that she has been reading. "Think about it Thalia.... We haven't had a night out since Becky's 18th birthday party back in February and we had a braai (barbeque) at my house with only my parents, Becky's parents and your Mom and uncle there. Your 18th birthday party should be a memorable one. It's like Becky said you only turn 18 once! And besides, I could use a night out with my two best friends in the whole wide world! Come on it will be fun! What do you say Thalia?"  "Alright... alright yes! We'll talk to mom when we get to the restaurant." I reply as I park my car outside Carlos's place. I hear Becky and Sophie whispering "yes" and high-five each other while getting out of the car. We walk into the restaurant and immediately I see Mom and Uncle Alejandro sitting at a table together eating lunch! We walk over to them.  "Hi mom, hi uncle Ale." Uncle Ale says "hi Thalia." Mom greets back "hi sweetheart. How was school?"  "School was great! Mom, Uncle Ale I've been meaning to ask you something. Can I go out to a club with the girls next Saturday? For my 18th birthday?" Mom and Alejandro look at each other. I swear sometimes I think they are communicating telepathically. Sometimes it feels weird to me. Then they turn their attention back to us and Uncle Ale asks "are you sure you will be safe?" Becky responds "yes Uncle Ale, we will be safe. We are hoping to go to club nightshade with your permission please! Please can we go! Thalia only turns 18 once and she should be able to enjoy her own birthday! Pretty please can we go?" Mom finally lets out a sigh. "Okay you can go but be back by midnight! I mean it girls!"  The girls and I shout in unison "YES!!!!... Thank you, thank you, thank you!!" while jumping up and down and giving mom a hug. Mom says "now go get ready for work. We have a busy night tonight and I have to work out your shifts for next week!" Uncle Alejandro gets up, ready to leave "I have to get to work. Remember girls no boyfriends and no alcohol at that party! Or else I will come and pull you guys out of the nightclub myself! I'll see you two at home. Bye" "Yes Uncle Ale, I know! I'll see you later!" I reply. The girls and I turn around and walk to my mom's office where we usually leave our bags, we put our bags down and put our aprons on. "I'm so glad we get to go out for your birthday! It's not often that we get to do that! I've got some great ideas for our dresses girls! This is going to be soooo much fun! Sophie you have to let me do your makeup again!" Becky says as we walk out back to the front. "Becky you always do my make-up anyways even if we just go to the movies!" says Sophie Becky then says "yes but you love it anyway!" Sophie just rolls her eyes at Becky. She has never been one for makeup and I wear my makeup lightly. A little mascara, some eyeshadow and lipstick pretty much does it for me but Becky, she is the one that likes to go all out! Makeup, dresses, high heels the whole shebang!" I just keep on laughing at my 2 best friends! We're not blood but we're sisters! Becky is blonde with blue eyes and Sophie is a redhead with green eyes. I well I have black hair and green eyes. We all have great bodies which makes all the boys keep running after us but we pay them no attention at all. We each grab a tray and start clearing the dirty tables. We set up for the dinner rush also. Friday nights are usually very busy nights! I hope I make some good tips tonight! Damien POV My name is Damien Burns. I am 25 years old. My wolf's name is Xander. I am the Alpha King of the werewolves. I'm also the Alpha of the biggest pack in South Africa called the Dark Moon pack. We have just over 15 000 pack members. We are the strongest pack in Africa. We are situated just outside Johannesburg. I am also the CEO of the multi-billion Rand company called Burns Incorporated. We own 5-star hotels in every country.  I took over the company and titles from my father when I turned 21. The age at which every alpha is able to take over his or her father's pack. I stand for peace amongst our kinds but I can be ruthless if I need to be! I have Alphas working under me in all the continents and they are called High Alphas, they handle the problems in their continents with the pack alphas reporting to them and they report to me. There are not just werewolves in this world. There are elves, witches, warlocks, vampires and faeries too! All of them have their own Kings, Queens and councils too.  Oh, and there are humans living amongst us too. They are not aware of the supernatural world though. We, supernatural creatures, prefer to keep it that way, although sometimes we supernatural can also get mated to humans and if they accept us, they are welcomed into our world! They are the only ones that know about us. I have not met my mate yet. I have been looking for her since I turned 18. I'm starting to think that I don't have a mate out there and I'm losing hope in finding her. Werewolves meet their mate when they turn 18 but as you know it's been 7 years and I haven't found her yet. The werewolf council is pressuring me in choosing a mate so I can produce heirs to the throne. According to them, I have to find my mate soon or else they will choose one for me. Their choice as a mate for me is the pack slut, Natasha. I have been refusing to do that because Xander and I want our true mate, not some pack w***e! Natasha thinks she will get the Luna Queen title just because her grandfather is on the werewolf council. She has another thing coming! I'm sitting in my office now, busy with some reports that the other alphas in South Africa have sent me when I hear someone walking into my office. "I thought I told you guys to knock before you enter my office!" I said and then I heard the most irritating voice saying "But baby... I thought we could spend some time together! You know like get to know each other since I'm going to be the Luna Queen?" I look up from the reports just to see Natasha standing naked next to me. She tries to touch me but I grab her wrist, slamming it on the table. Then I grab her by her neck and using my werewolf speed I slam her against the wall.  "You fu.cking stupid w***e! How f*****g dare you come in here naked? How fu.cking dare you disobey my order? You fu.cking disrespectful bi.tch!" It is taking everything in me to keep Xander from coming forward. He is pissed at her! He wants to rip her apart and the last thing that I need is this b***h's blood all over my carpet! I then slam her on the floor right next to her discarded robe. I mind link my best friend and beta Kade. "Kade come to my room ASAP and bring 2 dungeon guards with you!" Kade instantly replies "Yes Alpha" Werewolves can communicate with each other by mind linking each other whether you are in a pack or a family of peaceful rogues. Only rogues who are feral cannot mind link. Within seconds Kade walks in with 2 other men. Natasha is still laying on the floor crying in pain. "How could you do this to me? You are going to let them see me naked? My grandfather will hear about this!!" she screams at me! The nerve of this f*****g woman! "First of all, you are the pack slut!! You have f****d most of my warriors and you think I don't know it! Newsflash b***h I know everything that goes on in this pack including your comings and goings! Go tell your grandfather about this, I don't give a f**k! He already knows you are a slut anyways! I told him that! And lastly, your whoring ass will never be Luna Queen! Guards take her to the dungeons. She has to stay there for two weeks. No visitors allowed! And I mean no visitors! Kade can you go make sure they lock her b***h ass up?" I also tell him through mind link to come straight back because I want to discuss next week's Alpha meeting. Kade replies "Yes Alpha" and turns around to leave with the other two men and Natasha whose eyes are now wide while she tries to put her robe back on. The two guards are dragging her out to the dungeons. I return to my desk while I also mind link my gamma Jared to come join us. Jared walks into my office asking what the hell happened with Natasha just now because he saw Kade and two guards escorted her to the dungeons. "The b***h tried to seduce me but enough about that w***e, we need to talk about these rouge attacks and the Alpha meeting next week in Durban." Just then there is a knock at my door and Kade walks in. "The prisoner is locked up Alpha! That should keep her out of here for a while!" "Thanks Kade now take a seat. As you both know these rouge attacks are getting out of hand! The Red River pack had another attack yesterday!" I say "Again! How many casualties?" Kade asks I reply saying "Just over 100 injured and 257 dead. And that's not all, Alpha Johnson says that vampires were involved this time! Jared, I want you to send some warriors from our pack to go and help Red River. Help with rebuilding and training the warriors there." Jared replies "Yes Alpha" "Thank you, you may leave." Jared gets up and walks out of the office. "Kade you and I have to attend the two day Alpha meeting in Durban next week. It's about these attacks on different packs lately.  It's on Friday and Saturday. Make sure all arrangements regarding our flights and accommodation are ready. Hey, maybe we should go to that nightclub called Nightshade on Saturday. I don't know about you but I am in need of a night out!" "Hell yes, I'm in!! Girls, girls, girls all night long!! Kade replies. I just laugh and shake my head at my best friend of 25 years. "When will you stop your playboy antics Kade?" "The day I meet my mate!" He says getting up to leave. "Well, I hope that won't come back to bite you in the ass one day!" I tell him as he walks out of my office laughing.
