CHAPTER ONE
Iris Blade pushed her blazing red hair out of her face to get a better view of Astron city from the balcony of her new house.
Astron city was on a different level from the countryside where she and her father had come from. The buildings were taller, the traffic was higher both human and car traffic and let's not talk about the advanced technology. That alone was enough to blow her mind and take her breath away.
To enter their new home they could use a fingerprint or a pass code instead of the good old keys and padlock.
Everything seemed overwhelming at first but she was slowly getting used to it.
I hope dad will be okay, she thought . One of the reasons they moved to Astron city was due to the divorce. Her mother Cassandra had been cheating on her husband for the past two years. Her father being a passive kind of person bore with it until four days ago when she brought her lover to the house. What was that saying: the whatever that broke the camel's spine. I think that's how it went.
Mr Blade applied for a divorce the next day and her mom signed it and declined childcare without a second thought. Not even bothering to ask for time with her and that hurt more than anyone would think.
That being that, when is that e-mail coming? , Iris thought. She has been agitated since taking the entrance exam to Luna Academy. Not because she feared she would fail but because who wouldn't be agitated after taking an exam.
This was also one of the reasons they moved to Astron city. The main cause being that her dad got a massive promotion at his company.
Rumble rumble.
Iris lifted her green eyes to see the gathering of massive clouds. That's strange the weather was marvellous seconds ago and the forecast didn't warn about a storm. Oops dad did not go out with an umbrella. Whatever his a big man.
Then she walked into the house missing the sight of something or someone dropping from the sky.
The straw that broke the camel's back. That's how the saying went. Iris thought as she closed the door behind her.
At eight minutes past nine Simon walked into the house hurriedly wiping the blood on his hands so Iris wouldn't see. He stepped into the living room to find Iris on the couch sleeping like a newborn.
"My darling. My blazing fire", he said stroking her hair with so much love pouring from his eyes.
"I hope you'll love it here".
Simon rose and walked to the balcony. He lit a cigarette as his eyes took on a far away look to the day of his divorce.
MONDAY, DIVORCE DAY
