Zadie's POV
I woke up to an empty bed. If I hadn't slept so well, I would have thought it was all just a dream. But Akira purring all night had me sleeping so soundly, I didn't even feel Rex getting out of bed this morning. I wonder where he went so early. It was only 5 a.m. after all. He couldn't have gotten that much sleep.
I got up and threw on some clothes to go see Bella. I wanted to check on her to see how she was doing. It ate away at me all night that we hadn't gone sooner, but Donovan insisted he'd take us this morning.
Walking out into the living area, Skyler was already waiting for me, making us some coffee. She definitely learned a thing or two from working at the coffee shop, and now she makes us the best coffees at home.
We grabbed our coffees and an extra for Bella b
