I do not feel ashamed

-Mr Alfa, good afternoon- Lenna smiled as she opened her office door and ushered him inside. Alexander could just feel that professor Lenna shocked him a bit more than the last time he had seen her. Today she was wearing jeans, a gray top and some black cardigan that left him thinking that maybe he needed to get laid and soon. She was cute, demure and simple but his wolf was inwardly attentive and well... horny? What the hell was going on? He sat down on the visitor chair and saw how she took her own chair in front of him and looked him in the eye. He furrowed his brows at that, normally, everyone in the pack would do some type of small physical gesture that indicated respect for his Alfa position. He suddenly remembered that such was never the case with this woman. Lenna thought he seemed out of sorts and inclined her head. -I hope this visit is not for something bad, Mr Alfa-she wondered outloud -Call me Alex from now on-Alexander blurted while looking at her in the eye- Lenna smirked. She knew that no one in town called him that, not even the rare women who had tumbled with him between the sheets. She refused to think more about that, everyone in town knew the type of very attracting and sexy kind of women that he liked and she knew that she would never look like any of them, which was fine by her. She was not ugly by any strecht of the imagination but she was woman enough to accept and understand she was not model material and be happy about it. -Thanks, you can call me Lenna but I´d have to be honest, I´d rather call you Mr Alfa-she said without thinking which was rare in her. She made a point of not saying stuff without carefully choosing her words but maybe it was those green eyes of his looking straight at her that robbed her brain of some of her usual mindfulness. Her wolf liked calling him that, it felt naughty somehow and she could see in his expression that he might be thinking the same. -Anyways...-he harrumped and settled on the visitor chair-It came to my knowledge that you said to your students that your mate rejected you...-Way to go, lets rip this band aid fast and maybe it wont be so painful? He kept his attention in her face, just in case. He was alfa, and he cared about all his pack members wellbeing and to tell the truth, he expected her to flinch or change her expression at that but she did not. -Yes, he did-she glanced to the side and then returned his gaze straight on -A year ago when we first met because of your application to live here and teach at the Highschool, you did not mention that to me... -Would it had made a difference in my case?-she shot back with a gentle expression. He paused for a moment and kept looking at her eyes. If she seemed this gentle now, how would she look when presented with a flower bouquet, or while happily lazing around at home on a rainy day. -Not really. We need to have people like you in town-he said completely convinced it was the truth- So many kids in the pack grow up and leave for the cities or to go to other packs and territories looking for their mates that we have been bleeding out as a town for a long time now. -So, what do you really want to ask?-she was even more blunt than he was and he found that he was really interested in seeing just how direct and decisive she could be. -Why did you choose to not say anything about that? You just said that you wanted to take on the job and live here for a couple of years and when I asked about the pack where you came from, you said that they knew about your move here- -Did you contact them? -Of course I did, I do background checks for everyone new roaming into my town-he scoffed-I have a pack of my own to protect at least for the next couple of decades- -And I am sure they did not mention anything about my rejection- He nodded. She closed her eyes and smiled even wider in thanks to her people- Look, I did not say anything about that in all this time because it happened more than 8 years ago and because I wanted to grow out of it-she explained- He was the next in line to be Beta and I knew him well enough since childhood. It hurt horribly but apart from being a Wolf, I am also a person and we move on. I took my pain and made it into strenght and motivation to tackle my university studies and my career. Over time, it became less and less important-her expression changed a bit and her smile fell- I decided that I am more than what happened to me. That person rejected me but that wont make me useless or trash if I do not allow it. I told the kids at school about it so if any of them goes through the same, they can know that it is not the end of their world- Damn, you are one hell of a woman... -If it helps a bit, I have not found my mate yet-he said-And it drives people crazy because as Alfa, my pack expects me to get a Luna and be happy as a clam, bringing pups to keep the line and so on. Oh my God, dont smile at me like that Mr Alfa, do you even know what that makes to a girls underwear? She smiled again with those naughty thoughts going through her head. There was no mating spark between them but she was certainly not inmune to good looking men and their smiles. This seemed less like an interrogatory and more like a pity party and she remembered some of those back in her university years. -Then we are both screwed up, neither can have kids without a mate bond- He just scoffed and looked somewhere else. Looking at her in the eye took a toll on him and he knew that might be the most unalfa he had been ever since he became one at 21. Alfas were quite dominant and sometimes, downright overbearing to others. She seemed inmune to that kind of thing and it was refreshing to him. If only he found a Luna just like her. -Did you ever have a position in your pack?- -No, I went away before that could be ascertained, and if you are about to offer one, I do not want it-he raised an eyebrow- I´m gotten too used to be free like a butterfly. -And what would you say about having dinner with me some other time?- Alexander wanted to kick himself but her expression remained the same on that poker smile of hers that he seemed to like more a more with each passing second. Well, well, well... -Sure, I´d like that, let´s meet next week at Pint´s-she agreed and set the day, time and location without a hitch. He felt relieved that she chose a place with a relaxed atmosphere to have a couple beers and food and not the fanciest place in town. It was a date but she was not desperate to see romanticism in every action of his. He actually felt that his horny inner wolf was the one looking for romance for a change. He stood up and she followed as his whole body language conveyed that this was a finished conversation. She opened the door and he got his good looking body out of her office. -Have a good day Lenna- -You too, Mr Alfa-
