Chapter 3

Escape.

Things with Ran went back to normal. People in the orphanage got weirded out with Ran, but they didn’t mind her.

While cleaning the floor, she can remember what her life was like when she finally got adopted by the Cheng family around this time.

She was able to go to a park with the whole Cheng family and have a picnic. Everyone was laughing while she was preparing everything for the picnic. Funny how she never realized that she acts like a complete slave to them while thinking it was just a normal thing in a family.

She shrugged her shoulders and continued sweeping.

In the blink of an eye, it had been six years since she woke up from the hospital due to an allergy attack.

She is now 16 years old and has a meticulous plan to escape this orphanage.

As a matter of fact, she could have escaped from this orphanage years ago. However, considering how young and poor she was, it would be hard for her to survive in the outside world. That’s why she endured so hard in the orphanage.

There are so many times that she almost gets adopted by a family, but thankfully, she is clever enough to escape from those people. Eventually, the orphanage got tired of her and made her cleaner in the orphanage.

That gave her lots of advantages in planning her escape.

Due to the years of her stay, she had already mastered the blind spots of the CCTVs in the orphanage, and the schedule of the staff, and found the hidden money of Chairman Sun.

Exactly one year from now, this orphanage will be raided, and she needs to escape before that time comes.

According to her plan, her escapade will start this night.

Chairman Sun was able to sell one of the orphans at a high price yesterday and whenever this happens, he lets the staff of this orphanage have a day off, which happens to be this day.

He was extremely confident that no one would dare to escape since this place had CCTV at every corner and was surrounded by high walls with electric fences. Those who have tried to escape almost died because of this.

7 pm. Ran changed her clothes and put her things in her bag. Luckily, she is alone in this staff room since all the other orphanage staff had their day off and will come back tomorrow morning.

She then carefully dodged the CCTVs and went straight to the chairman’s office. With her years here, she was able to learn how to pick locks, which became useful this night.

With a trembling heart, she successfully opened the door. She may look confident now, but in reality, she is really nervous. This is the first time in her and her past life to actually steal money for herself.

Carefully, she tiptoed to the boxes of papers. When she opened the big box, there was a lot of bundled money stacked inside. The first time she saw this was when she accidentally knocked this box over when she was assigned to clean this office.

During that time, there was not much money there. But years later, Chairman Sun was able to accumulate millions and store it in this office to avoid being suspicious. This is actually the dumbest hiding Ran has ever witnessed but, oh well, she doesn’t care. But this time, what really surprised her were the gold bars! This is the first time she has seen these bars here. Chairman Sun is really careless!

Ran immediately put the money and bars in the big luggage that she stole on her way. She has approximately 10 million yuan in this luggage. This was not on her plan, but thinking about those years of slavery in this orphan, the days and weeks of being starved while working so hard, she felt like 1 million is not enough.

After putting things in their original place, she went to get her papers. She’s planning to change her whole life, thus, she needs her records to be burnt. She must not leave a single trace of her existence to ensure her new life.

Ran went to the kitchen and there, she found her way out of the orphanage.

She then immediately went to a secret passage that she had slowly developed throughout the years and found her way to the woods, where she needed to walk 30 minutes to see a highway.

She learned in her past life that though this orphanage seemed to be in the middle of a forest, it was actually near the city and was just surrounded by woods to hide it from the eyes of the public.

After walking, she finally reached the highway and rode a taxi. She was extremely nervous in her seat, afraid of getting caught by the staff of the orphans. Only when she arrived in the city did her heart calm a little.

“I finally escaped from that hell-like orphanage.”
