Chapter 4

Logan’s pov

My eyes scanned the message on my phone, my heart racing. How could this be? What are the plans of the opposing force? Something more powerful than a vampire is wild and dangerous to be let loose into the world

I took a deep breath and walked back into the office, trying to maintain my composure.

"Mia, here's your drink," I said, handing her a cold coffee.

"Thanks, Logan," she said, taking a sip. "I'm still trying to wrap my head around these claw marks."

“Don’t stress, it is probably just an animal” I told her, “I’m going to step out for a while, okay?” She nodded

I left the office, went to the back of the office and brought it at midnight to take control. I sped past the trees as I had to report my findings to the Alpha.

The Park

It was bubbling with life, where folks went about their business. I rushed down to the park house where Kane would be at the moment.

When I got there, I pushed through the door gaining the attention of the elders who were there.

“Logan!” Kane called out to me and I bowed to show my respect, “this is a private meeting. You are not meant to be here” he said to me.

“I’m sorry your lordship but I have to report what I have seen so far” I said to him.

He looked at the elders “meeting adjourned” . The elders stood up, bowed and left through the door.

“What was so important that it could wait” Kane asked me

“Yesterday night, I was confronted by a supernatural being. It wasn’t a vampire but it had the heartbeat of one and it had the speed of our kind. Then today, Mia lab results which my team intercepted told me about a creature more powerful than a vampire” I reported to him but he just smirked at me.

“Logan, there’s nothing to worry about” he said to me.

“Why is that?” I asked suspicious of his words

“The battle between the supernaturals ids getting closer by the minute and we the were folks have taking it as a decision to create something that would be to our advantage during that fight” Kane announced to me

“Wait, are you telling me that we created the monster that is currently on the lose?” I asked in disbelief.

“Yes but it is a prototype. That’s what the humans we snatched up are for.” He told me

“I thought we were turning them into were's?” I asked as I was enraged by the stupid decision made by the Alpha.

“We were, but just the werewolf kind can’t defeat the kind of danger that was described by the oracle.” He said to me

“And your best idea is to create a hybrid?” I tried to contain my rage

“No, Logan. It is so much more than a hybrid. With this new power under our control, no creature in the supernatural world would be stupid enough to pick a fight against us. We would also rule the were kind of different packs” He said smirking

I let midnight take control, “Kane!” Midnight’s voice is steady but powerful enough to bring one to his knees.

Kane turned to me, bowing down as he felt the power that seeped out of me. I immediately realized what I was doing and took control of my wolf. The power that was suffocating began to retract back into me.

Kane looked up in confusion, “who are you?”

“I’m Logan and that’s all you have to know for now. We have a strong battle and we need to be prepared for it. Turning humans into monsters is not the way, shut it down” I told him

“Are you telling me what to do?” Kane asked

“I’m not, it is just an advice before you expose us to the humans and put us in more danger” I said and walked away from the pack house.

As I came out of the pack house, I heard my name begin to be called.

“Logan!”

I already knew who it was but I turned to answer out of respect.

“My Luna Queen” I bowed in respect

“It’s been a long time. How are you?” She asked, looking at me with seductively eyes.

“My Queen, I have been fine” I replied as I tried to conclude our discussion and go back to Mia.

“I have told you to stop calling me that, my name is Treasure” she said as she used her arms to feel mine.

“Luna, sorry, Treasure. I appreciate your hospitality and friendship but I have to head back to work” I told her

“What work is better than your queen talking to you?” She asked as she linked our arms together.

“None” I smiled at her and she smiled back. Just then my phone rang, “excuse me” she nodded in approval and I picked up the call.

“Hello, Logan here” I replied

“Sir, Mia is in danger!” The voice boomed and it was like my world stopped spinning. What kept echoing in my mind was

“Mia and danger!”

“Where is she?” I asked firmly, midnight about causing havoc.

“She is in the depth of the forest. The path further away from the old gym” the voice said

Why did she go back there again “noted” I ended the call.

“Is everything alright?” Treasure asked

“My Queen, I have to go, I will see you later” I bowed and walked out before she could say anything.

My heart beating and praying nothing bad happened to her as I ran through the forest as fast I could, navigating through the trees.

I got to the old gym in less than five minutes, I smelled the air for her scent and it hit me. Her rose scent filled my nose and I dash quickly to where it was strongest.

I ran and got to the middle of it all. I stood, listening to it all. I could hear two heartbeats; one faint and one a normal human heart. The normal human was close to me, I walked to where she was, her scent getting more intoxicating.

I pulled her out from behind the tree, where she hid and she screamed loudly.

“Shhhh, Mia it’s me!” I said calming her down

She opened her eyes as she heard my voice, “Logan?”
