Chapter 4

As Olivia scrubbed at the stubborn pan, she couldn’t help it because the greasy smell from leftovers made her want to vomit. How did I get to this? She wondered. The chefs and waiters who were in the kitchen couldn’t stop staring at her. She didn’t notice them because she was lost in her thoughts. All this time, she was sleeping with my husband behind my back. She thinks I will easily let this go. Grayson has always been nice to me. Even though I couldn’t get pregnant, I still love him. As she thought, she fought very hard to stop tears from streaming. “Does your husband know that you are washing dishes in the kitchen of the restaurant? I bet you are tired of sitting alone inside a fancy mansion,” Lolly, the waitress, asked as she dipped the dirty dishes. Another waiter came with a tray of dishes. “Don’t listen to her, she is very rude. I am Sarah.” She extended her hand to shake Olivia. “Hi, I am Olivia, nice to meet you,” she said, extending her hand too. “Olivia, it's getting late. Do you need a hand?” Sarah inquired. Olivia nodded her head. “You can leave. I will finish the rest,” Sarah said, taking a dirty plate from Olivia. “I appreciate it, but I can’t leave now because your boss will notice that I didn’t finish the work,” Olivia shook her head. Mr Haven was eating his meal with John, his friend. “I don’t think Grayson is taking good care of his wife,” Mr Haven muttered, raising a glass of wine. “How do you know that?” John inquired, intrigued. “She couldn’t pay the bill. Her card declined three times. She couldn’t even call his husband to rescue her,” Ethan responded, looking worried. “I wonder what Grayson did to you. You hate him so much,” John said, taking out his napkin to wipe his mouth. “Twelve years ago, we were business partners. He betrayed me by sharing confidential information with our competitors and making deals behind my back. This is one of the reasons why I have stopped doing business with other people,” Ethan explained, in a calm voice. “Man, I didn't know you were so vengeful. So what are you going to do with his wife? You want to kidnap her,” John said and giggled. “No, I am going to f**k his wife and send him the footage,” he said. “You are crazy. Do you think he gives a damn about that woman?” John inquired, shaking his head. “I heard they have been married for 10 years. He will get furious when he finds out,” Mr Haven said, with a wide smile. ” Man, don’t tell me you are being serious. ” John said he couldn’t stop laughing when he heard his friend’s idea. When Olivia came out of the kitchen, she suddenly hit Ethan. “Oh my… I am so sorry, Sir, I was in a rush.” She murmured and turned to look at the person she had hit. “You look so distressed. Are you okay?” Ethan inquired, raising his eyelashes. “I am sorry, Sir.” She said quietly. “You are stepping on my shoes,” Grayson said. “Oh, I am sorry, I didn’t notice. I need to leave, it’s late,” Olivia said, avoiding Mr Haven’s gaze. “Can I drive you to your place?” He inquired. “Oh no, Sir, don’t bother yourself. I will take a taxi,” she shook her head. “No, it’s okay. It is not easy to catch a taxi at this time,” Grayson hesitated, grabbing Olivia’s wrist. She thought for a moment before she agreed. On their way to Olivia’s house, Ethan noticed Olivia was uncomfortable. “So, tired after a long day,” he muttered, his back leaning against the back seat. “Yes, just a little. Thanks for offering me a ride.” Olivia was glad that he offered her a ride because he didn’t have money for a taxi. “No problem. You look like you are far away. Is everything okay?” He inquired with a calm voice.“I am a little worried about a job. Is there a possibility of being hired as a waitress at your restaurant?" Olivia inquired, avoiding his gaze. Ethan’s driver came to a halt at the address that Olivia had told him. “For now, I don’t know if we are short of stuff. I will have to talk to my manager. Just give me your contact number. I will inform you after talking to him.” Olivia took out a pen and paper to write them down. She handed the paper to him. Ethan wondered why the millionaire's wife was desperate to get employed, and the house she was living in was old and creepy. “Is this where you live?” He inquired, looking worried.
