Elsie's Pov
What the hell was going on?! How was Adrian able to find me, and what was he doing here?!
I found it hard to believe when I got the text from Adrian saying he was outside Ryan's house.
"Adrain, I was just about to leave." I said, trying to ease the tension stiring between Adrain and Ryan.
I really hope Adrian hadn't showed up here to sabotage me. Why was he suddenly acting overly protective of me now and looking like he was ready to pounce on Ryan at any minute.
I held, Adrain's arm, pressing myself against him. "What the hell did you come here for?" I said through gritted teeth, "You need to leave here now."
Adrian had to practically peel his gaze off Ryan before he looked down at me and said, "I'm not leaving here without you."
Then next thing he said, "hop on the bike." Then handed a helmet to me.
Surprise engulfed me, because, this was something he has never ever said to me before. Never has he offered me a ride, but now, he was here, surprisingly at Ryan's house, insisting that he rode me home.
Just to prevent a fight from happening, I grabbed the helmet, wore it before I quickly hoped onto his bike and held his back with shaky fingers. When he kicked the engines of the bike to life and I almost fell off, I tightened my grip against his back.
"What was the meaning of that stunt you pulled out there?" I asked him after we had left Ryan's house. But I could barely even hear myself over all that noise as we were still riding on the road and I was sure that he hadn't heard me too because he didn't make any attempt to respond to me.
I held onto the little patience I had left as I drowned in my thoughts. This was so unlike Adrian.
He drove into what seemed like a five star restaurant and stopped in the parking lot.
"We're here." He said, urging me to get down.
I looked around with my brows creased together. This looked nothing like our home.
"Where are we?" I voiced out.
"A restaurant, obviously. Aren't you hungry?" He asked, taking off his helmet.
I took mine off too and handed it back to him. I hadn't realised how hungry I had been until he asked that question.
The next moment, my stomach began to growl so loudly, I placed a hand over my stomach, my cheeks flushing in embarrassment.
"Well that answers my question." Adrain said with a smirk.
He carefully placed both helmet on the bike before leading me into the restaurant. The sweet aroma of food cooking intensified the hunger.
We sat by a table where he called a waiter to attend to us. He made me order anything I wanted. I was hesitant at first, but after much persuasion, I got to order what I actually wanted to eat off the menu.
Sometimes I forgot, Adrain was the biological son of my rich step father and money was never an issue for them. If there was a problem that money could easily solve, instead of bantering with words, they would instantly fling money at the situation.
I couldn’t help but stare conspicuously around the restaurant. The ambience was top notch, everything in here seemed to have been made with the most expensive materials.
The prices of the food were so high, never in a million years would I think of stepping here just to eat, yet, the entire place was flooded. We were lucky enough to find a table that was not taken.
The calibre of people seated at the restaurant suddenly made me conscious about myself. This restaurant was definitely not meant for the poor.
I looked down subconsciously at what I was wearing, this was the first time in the longest that I actually cared about what I was wearing. Seeing Adrain on the most casual outfit ever, which was nothing close to how the people in the restaurant looked, yet we were offering one of the most expensive dishes from the menu put me at ease.
"Elsie!" Adrain called, jerking me out of my train of thoughts.
"Stop staring like that. Someone might think you're staring at them and get offended." He pointed out.
"Oh my." I uttered when I came to the realisation.
"You're not supposed to tutor Ryan on the weekends. What's going on?"
I swallowed, avoiding his gaze at the same time. The waiter was already approaching with our food so I had something to be fixated on.
"Elsie, look at me. What is going on?"
"You left the house so early without even touching your breakfast and headed to Ryan's house."
"Here's your order. Please enjoy your meal." The waiter smiled with a kind of warmth that was contagious before he bowed slightly and walked away.
"I'm super hungry, Adrian." I said, dismissing his question as I carried the cutlery.
He sat back, watching me with those soul piercing eyes.
I paid him no heed while I consumed the food. Goodness, it was better than any food I had tasted in a while.
He picked up his fork and quiet ate his food, stealing glances at me at intervals.
"You would eventually need to answer me, you can't run from the question." He said with his mouth full.
I finished chewing and swallowed before I met his gaze, "Since when did you become my father to question my decisions."
"Mother entrusted you under my care." He replied immediately. "When did you start tutoring Ryan on the weekends. Did he force you?"
I led a spoonful into my mouth, ignoring his question again. He waited until I finished masticating.
"This is none of your business, Adrain. It was solely my decision to inclusively coach Ryan everyday, which include, weekends. And no, I'm not being forced." My fingers shook as I led another spoonful into my mouth.
He noticed my body language and could easily tell that I was lying. He didn’t say a word after that and allowed me to my meal
