Adrian’s pov
Elsie thought i hadn't noticed her when I walked into the kitchen but I did. She did a very bad job hiding behind the kitchen counter, her hands were hanging out visibly.
I had a feeling that she wouldn't appreciate me being on the call with Sophia after she had seen me in school with her and reacted that way.
I didn't end the call with Sophia when I walked into the kitchen, in fact, I had made sure to keep the conversation going knowing Elsie could hear everything.
That was my own way of getting back at her after she had told me off in her room. The satisfaction that coursed through me after I heard her make a sound of displeasure while still hidden was inexplicable. She didn't think it heard her, I pretended to be invested in the conversation.
When I noticed that Sophia was trying to drag on with the conversation, I stylishly ended the call and walked out of the kitchen.
That morning I woke up feeling excited for mo reason, maybe it was because of what had went down the previous night. I did a few stretches, before I did a few chores and headed to the kitchen to get my breakfast.
Mother usually had the maid plate everyone's breakfast and left them in a basket since everyone was too busy to have meals together, while she took dad's to him. I was usually the last to get my breakfast. But when I got to the kitchen, I found two plates of food left.
That could only mean one thing; Elsie had not had her breakfast yet.
"That's strange." I said out loud.
I looked at the time on my phone to confirm what the time was. It was already eleven am in the morning, that was way past breakfast time and Elsie usually had her breakfast before 9am and had it earlier than that if we were heading for school.
"Well, time to step up and be a good big brother." I left my breakfast behind, carried hers and headed for her room only for me to find it locked.
"Elsie?" I called out, knocking at the door. I didn't want to believe that she had left the house, because where else could she be if not in her room.
Holding the plate steadily on one hand, I pulled out my phone and dialed her phone number, it didn't go through.
I placed my ear on the door, listening for her phone. "She's really isn't in." I said as though I was now convinced she wasn't actually home.
I sent her a text before shoving my phone into my pocket.
I went back into the kitchen and placed the food back into the basket.
"Son!" I heard father calling for me from the living room.
"Yeah, Dad." I replied and hurried out without touching my food.
He was all dressed and ready to head out.
"Good morning, Dad." I greeted.
"You had a wonderful night?" Was always his response, even when his tone was cold with a stoic expression on his face.
"Yes I did. You have somewhere to be?" I asked.
"I have a meeting to attend and I need you to run a few errands for me." He said.
"No problem, Dad, just let me..."
"I have sent the errands I want you to run for me to your email." He said.
I rolled my eyes at him, "Really, dad, you could have just told me what you want me to do or probably sent it as a text, you don't have to be too formal about everything." I let out.
I saw his the side of his face curve up but it quickly disappeared with the same speed as it came.
"There is nothing as being too formal. Just make sure you get those tasks done for me." He said and without another word and left the house.
The moment he left, I brought my phone to check the mail he had sent but I decided against it, I would worry about that later. Right now, I was famished.
I got a notification on my phone. I checked to see it was from Elsie. My eyes lit up.
'Hey good morning, I'll be back home soon, I had to go to Ryan's.' The text message read.
At the sight of Ryan's name, something inside of me snapped. Breakfast could wait.
Since I was fully dressed and it was the weekend, I could head out in this casual outfit. I went straight for the garage, got on my power bike, and drove out of the house.
It was the weekend, why the hell will Elsie be at Ryan's place, she only tutored him during the week days and not weekends. Something was fishy and I was determined to get to the bottom of this.
The drive to Ryan's place took longer than I expected. I had never been to Ryan's place before so I had to track Elsie's location.
Luckily for me, her location was on but tracking her was a bit tricky. I almost ended up getting lost.
When I arrived at Ryan's house, there was no way for me to get in. It seemed the gates were sewn into the walls.
I texted Elsie to let her know I was outside Ryan's house.
Few seconds later, I got a text back from her expressing her shock. A couple more minutes later, the gates were being opened.
Elsie stood there, her mouth wide open in shock. "Adrain, what are you doing here...how you able to find me?" She asked all at once.
Ryan was standing beside her, also suprised to see me.
"Yeah, Adrian, what are you doing here?" Ryan said with as much disgust as he could muster.
My fingers clutched the handle of my bike so hard, my knuckles turned white.
"Hand her over." I said simply, keeping my anger under control.
Elsie stepped out of the compound quickly, "I..I was already about to leave." She said promptly.
I and Ryan were locked in a gaze so intense, the air shifted. I didn’t realise how much I hated this guy until today.
