Ryder set out running through the woods, dodging trees and leaping over justing roots while fervently hoping she wasn't chasing after him.
The wind was cold against his face as it mercilessly swept through the atmosphere. The suffocating air smelt like burnt grasses and wasted blood. The wolfsbane in his blood was rapidly slowing him down and in a matter of time, he fell down crashing on the grasses and thorns in pain.
Too afraid to stop running, he turned back to check if he was being followed. He carried his legs faster despite the piercing pain from the arrow and scorching sensation that was permeating his muscles and his blood stained the grasses of every turns he made and path he took.
Ryder halted to check why his wounds weren't healing, his eyes were refusing to turn back to normal and his claws were sharper than usual and out of control.
He could have killed her with just snapping her neck, but he never killed any human before let alone a female and never wanted to. Still feeling weak, he resumed running again after realizing he had been injected with wolfsbane just by taking a look at his blood and monitoring his healing abilities.
He did not stop until he reached the edge of the woods that led to the towns outskirts. He looked first to his right, then his left as his heart pounded heavily. Taking a good look at himself, he took some steps backwards reluctant to take another step forward afraid people might see him as a monster with his eyes, his claws, and fangs.
He needed to first of all rid himself entirely of the wolfsbane in his blood, so in a hurry, he took another direction back into the woods after using a stronger vine to tie his arm close to the spot he was injected.
He collected two stones and started up a small fire dipping a smaller piece of stick into the fire to let the tip burn. Traces of black veins were visible on his arms where he was injected and his irritation worsened as the blacks veins were gradually expanding while he wasted time. Setting the stick on fire, he forced it on his arm pressing the burning stick against it so much that it made him yell so loud in pain till he was sure he had gotten rid of the wolfsbane surging through his blood. Though his healing ability was slow, he tore a part of his clothing and used it to cover up the wound the fire had given till it would slowly and completely heal itself.
In a haste, he stood up and began running again. The second Ryder had reached the other side of the road, he turned around weakly and looked back at the woods feeling hesitant to enter a town he had not even a little bit of knowledge about, but recalling Mira's warning and promise, he continued walking lowering his head in order to prevent his eyes from been seen by anyone.
They weren't just ordinary hunters but it seemed like they had every knowledge possible about werewolf. One would think or feel as if the Scott's hunters were wolfs themselves as they perfected their plans getting ready for their attack.
"Where's Mira"Alpha Jagger asked an omega who had fallen to the group while taking a look around. Even with his eyes turned red to aid him in seeing things clearer and afar, he couldn't see around the fog that had been created by an unknown type of wolfsbane that would not only incapacitate every wolves of the Red moon pack, but also weaken even their Alpha, the strongest of all.
The hunters all gave themselves some sort of antitode to prevent the fog from affecting them, and once every wolves became incapacitated and unable to fight back, arrows scattered through the air hitting some wolves, while others were shot with silver bullets piercing deeps into their heart. The stuborn wolves had their heads detached from their body. In the midst of all these, Alpha Jagger refused to go on his knees. Watching his people scream for help and die helplessly, defenseless and right before his very own eyes, he worried about his son Ryder and when a silver bullet passed through his chest and went straight for his heart, the Alpha went down on his knees with his eyes turning red.
Powerless, he remained motionless on his knees and immediately spewed out black blood from his mouth mostly as a result of the wolfsbane.
In less than in minute,Lydia walked towards him and immediately chopped his head off, making it roll on the grass while his body fell to the soil.
"Their Alpha's down brother," She said in the midst of the fog which was beginning to slowly fade away although her voice wasn't that clear as a result of the mask she had used to cover up her nose.
"So is everyone of them. Kate stay with your aunt, she'll lead the way out of the fog and be careful with your steps, you might end up tripping on one of these creatures" Kathleen heard her father's voice and tightly held her aunt by the shoulders.
Lost in her thoughts as she walked, she was no longer hurting again but failed to realize at that moment that her wound completely healed you without making her feel even a little pain.
Gerard was the first to completely exit from the fog along with his wife who followed behind. Lydia and Kateleen came next and they all took off their masks taking the path back to their abode at the outskirts of the woods.
Mira's body remained the way they had left it, chained. Her eyes were peacefully closed and she had completely turned into a wolf.
The look on Kathleen's face showed that of pain and misery. It was awful, her first hunt was awful and it didn't occur to her earlier that killing a wolf was this hurtful.
As it was the third day of the full moon, it was also the last day. "Are you gonna leave her this way dad?" Kathleen questioned her gaze at the dead wolf still chained.
" We aren't supposed to bury such creatures darling, she can rot into ashes for all we care. Now get packing, we have to leave immediately" her mom gave the reply instead tapping her shoulders.
"Yep, she's right. We leave them to rot and go to hell where they all belong" Lydia said, opening the suitcase where the silver bullets were kept and took out some to fill up her gun again."You did a great job out there Kathleen, we're really proud of you kiddo."
"Thanks aunty." Kathleen retorted and smiled back.
Kathleen got into the car along with her parents and aunt. Turning behind, her eyes wouldn't stop staring at the house and she failed to hear her aunt's voice.
"Ryder, find Ryder." Kathleen was so sure she heard those words from someone or rather she would say somewhere and began wandering if she was hallucinating or maybe hearing weird things as a result of the bite.
