"Do you know what Eston told me today?" I began. Then I remembered that he was not exactly his favorite person, so I stopped myself right there.
"What did he tell you?" He clenched his jaw. I could tell the jealousy written all over his face, like he was waiting for me to say something so that he can say, "I told you so. I knew I had to RIP his insides from his arse."
And because I knew very well that I had to protect Eston, seeing as he's my best friend, I did not proceed to say anything even though he practically demanded it out of me.
"Nothing, it's just some hospital stuff you probably wouldn't understand." I told him, and he just raised an eyebrow at me and challenged me.
"Tell me, you'd be surprised with how much I know."
I did not know what to say to him after that so, I decided to distract him with the celebrations of our anniversary. When I say celebrations, I mean it. This man surely knows how to celebrate love. He wants to make sure that every gesture is grand.
It doesn't matter if it's the second year, third year, twentieth anniversary , he makes sure that he goes out and he pulls all the major guns out. I knew very well that this time he must have something grand planned, even though he was doing it pretty well to hide exactly what his intentions were for this year's anniversary. Everything was always a surprise with him, so I could already try to predict and read his mind and tell myself that he is going to surprise me yet again because he is a very unpredictable man.
"Well, you know what, Bears, I'll say I have never been more clueless," I told him, beginning trying to fish a little bit as to what he's going to do. But yet again, he was willing to give me nothing. Absolutely nothing.
"I have a meeting, but after that I'll be seeing you." He announced and I made a whining face because why? I was prepared to spend all evening with him just cuddling away, but here he was going to leave me yet again.
It was not an easy job being married to an alpha. Every single time he had a commitment somewhere, they demanded of him. Trouble that demanded his attention was always arising, and these wolves were such troublemakers that it made me severely annoyed. It was a good thing that he was a good alpha because he surely knew how to put any sort of quarrel to rest quickly enough before it turns into something unbearable. But that meant him being away most of the time and not being able to spend enough time with me or the boys.
"You promised the boys. Come on, you cannot break a baby's heart, that is absolutely criminal." I told him trying to kill trip him into staying, but unfortunately he told me that his hands were tied.
Once we got to the pack house, I felt even more sick. So sick that I thought I would collapse to my knees. So sick that I thought I saw Rose again, which is something I do not get again. I could not Rep my mind around the fact that Rose was deceased. Who had I seen them that other day? I was so sure that it was her. It had to have been her, there is absolutely no one else that looks like her. And for as far as I know, Rose does not have a twin at all. So I wondered if my mind was seeing things. It was probably all the nightmares and all the hours I spend at work over exerting myself have finally caught up to me. Yes, I did need a good amount of sleep. For the past weeks, seeing as my nightmares have returned, I'd been unable to sleep well, and not getting enough sleep proved itself to be quite detrimental to my mental state.
I wanted to tell him that I'd seen something and I did not know or understand what was going on, but I did not want to alarm him. He already had so much to think about, but it made me worry. It made me crave to see my babies because I just needed to remind myself again, to sit in that chair I was sitting as I breastfed them and look at the door again to see if I can recognize a pattern, to see if I will see Rose again.
Can you imagine if I saw a ghost? Maybe it was just a fleet of my imagination, but everything was so real. The sound of her voice, the way that she spoke, it was exactly her, even though her eyes were lifeless. I did not expect much because like I said, she is quite strange and peculiar, but the fact that she has been dead for over a year and I just did not know of it kind of baffles me right now.
"What are you thinking about so deeply, love?" Bears asked me and I quickly snapped out of my train of thought and paid him attention.
"I'm thinking about how I am going to uncover your surprise."
"Who said there's a surprise?" He faced me with a smirk and I just could not get any confirmation out of him.
"Never mind, I know you very well. Your surprise could possibly be a not surprise."
"Well, you never know." He shrugged his shoulders and smoothly swerved the car into a parking spot and it was time for me to finally get out and leave.
I was hoping that he would allow me to spend more time with him, but as soon as we got there, he opened the door for me, let me out, and I had to say goodbye to him because one of the elders was already there, demanding his attention.
"Richard." I acknowledged him and he simply nodded his head to acknowledge me as well. Something about his face was just so unwelcoming, it had always been. But you know what? They are a very prestigious pack and they do not want to accept that the rogue has somehow magically turned into their luna so I could get it.
It did not bother me anymore.
Richard again gave me a nod of his head when I told him that he should treat my husband kindly and not to keep him away from me for too long. It was as though he wanted to yell some insolent things and tell me of how big of a brat I am, but he kept it to himself. Thankfully for him, he knows what's good for him.
Once I got into the house, I again felt its immediate absence. It was so silent, which is great because my head was throbbing. It was absolutely killing me. I had to call someone else.
"Diana. Diana, please." I told one of the maids to go get Diana for me. She needed to go check on the babies because I could not check on them right now.
"Diana." I said to another one, seeing as the first girl seemed to have ignored me unless she was not being quick enough.
