Chapter twenty three

Taylor’s POV

I walk out of the room and go two rooms down with Thomas following me.

When I open the door, I look at the man lying there with empty eyes. I finally understood everything; it all made sense now.

He is Janie’s real mate. They look just like him. I kneel down, letting out my aura. James’s face snaps to mine.

He sits up, bowing his head, baring his neck to me. James looks at me.

He lifts his head, looking at me. James, I command you to tell me everything you know.

Tears run down his face. The first thing he says is, “Janie, where’s my Janie?” Come with me, James.

I help him up, and I can see Thomas with a big grin on his face. I shake my head and walk out the door with James.

When we walk out into the hall, I can hear gasps. We walk slowly down the hall to the room that Janie is in.

When we enter the room, I knew then he was her mate. He ran to Janie, telling her how sorry he was to have gotten mixed up with Malcolm.

That he didn’t know at the time that Malcolm was after the Hart bloodline.

Janie stood up, hugging James. I would like you to meet your children. James just stood there… w…what?

Your children, James. This is Devin, Zack, Liam, and this is our daughter, Izzy.

James falls to his knees, tears flowing down his cheeks. “My children, my children,” he says. Devin went over and helped him up, hugging him.

So did Zack and Liam. Izzy hid behind me. James looks over at Izzy, and Janie tells him it’s going to take time with her.

Izzy clutches onto the back of my shirt. I turn around and hug her. “It’s going to be okay,”

I promise. Kissing her on her head. She just nods her head, still looking at James.

Izzy’s POV

My real father kept going through my head. Will he want us, Shay? Or will he treat me like Pete did?

Well, you’re never going to find out if you don’t talk to him. I’m scared, Shay. I understand that, and I expect you to be scared, but if you don’t try, you’re never going to know.

Plus, we have a mate to protect us now.

Holding on to Taylor, all I can do is look at the man who is my real father. I even have his eyes.

James walks over slowly towards me and says, “Izzy,” putting out his hand for me to take. I look up at Taylor, and he’s smiling.

“It’s okay, Izzy. I’m right here.” I nervously step forward, taking his hand. The next thing I know, I’m wrapped in a warm embrace of my father.

Jarred, yes, Alpha. He mind links. The cabin next to the pack house. I want you to secure all the windows and have the cabin cleaned and stocked.

We are going to move Janie and James to the cabin. I want it watched around the clock till we can figure everything out. But I don’t think the dungeon is where they belong.

Yes, Alpha. I will get on it right away. Let me know when it’s ready.

Oh, and see if you can get them some actual clothes. On it, Alpha.

I stand there looking at my mate in the arms of her father, and for the first time, she seems at peace.

Why don’t we all go back to the pack house and talk about what to do next? We all look at James and our mom. Don’t worry, they are coming too.

The shock on both our parents’ faces as to what Taylor just said.

James let Izzy go and went over and helped Janie up.

You could see the love between them. You knew they were mates.

It made me happy that Izzy had found peace in all this madness.

Maybe even a father who would actually love her.

We walked out of the cell and out the door and up the stairs. It was already evening.

My mom and James just stood there looking around at everything.

That’s when my mom realized her parents were there.

Mom, Dad, she said, rushing over to hug them. They were all crying.

Mom, Dad, I want you to meet my real mate, James.

James, this is my mother, Lily, and my father, Richard Hart.

It’s a pleasure to meet you both. I’m just sorry it’s under these circumstances.

Tony walked over to Sally and asked in a whisper, “Everything they are saying is it true?” Sally looked at Tony in surprise. “Yes, Alpha, it’s all true, every bit of it. I can show you if James will let me.”

Why don’t we give it a few days before we ask and let everything?

That’s fine, Alpha. I am sure they can use the time getting to know their children.”

Tony just nods. James stopped can you give me a minute, I walk in front of Tony, Alpha I say quietly, I was wondering how the two warriors are. I didn’t mean to hurt them.

Tony smiles, under the circumstances I understand why you did it. They are just fine. They are recovering great with their families. You know I was supposed to kill them, as he hangs his head low.

Tony smiles, but you didn’t James, I will always be grateful for that. James bows, thank you Alpha.

James walks back over holding Janie’s hand.

I’m ready now James said quietly.

Alpha, the cabin is ready. It has everything they will need.

Great, I will take them there now. We will meet you there.

I grab Izzy’s hand and pull her into a hug. At first, I thought she might pull away, but then she hugs me back and whispers, “Thank you in my ear.” I can’t help the smile that comes on my face.

Come on, I want to show you guys something as I pull Izzy towards the pack house. With everyone following.

We get close to the pack house, but instead, I turn down a little path, coming upon a cabin. Izzy looks up at me wondering what I’m up to.
