I picked up my phone to text Jake. We had been going back and forth with messages since the night at the club. Everything was falling in place without a shadow of doubt. The man was only too eager to move on from my sister and that was my trump card. All his talks about making up with her were just in words. He was a chronic cheat — but he was a very wealthy one.
I took my time to look him and his family up on the Internet. Apart from being the Prime Minister’s son, he came from a generation of moneybags— what analysts liked to call the old money — in the country. Jasper Hawthorne and his measly inheritance came nowhere close to it. Good thing Keira was exiled to deal with that situation, I thought to myself with a triumphant scoff.
