Chapter 23. Jasper’s POV. I rolled my eyes and let out an exasperated sigh, already exhausted by the prospect of speaking with my mother before the call even began. The pain killers were beginning to wear off and my head was on fire with searing flashes of pain. “Hello, mom,” I answered the phone eventually, putting in my best effort to sound as normal as I could. “Jasper. Where are you?” she asked, her voice firm. “What do you mean? I’m in my room. I’m fact, you just disturbed my nap. So much for wanting me to rest and recover as soon as possible, mom,” I lied. “A nap, huh? Is that the new term for your new frequent visits to the hospital?
