I sat idly by the pool, staring into the clear water. Jasper’s recent warmness towards me filled me with a strange feeling of joy I’d have thought to be impossible at the beginning. My mind strayed to thoughts of Jasper’s words on the night I took the money to my father. I knew he would make good on his words and I was too afraid to ask him if he’d done anything yet or changed his mind. I was content to enjoy the new peace we’d established following the incident, especially after the scene at the physio center. My cheeks stained red with a blush at the memory.
