Chapter 1
My feet padded on the muddy ground as I ran, my breathing heavy, my sweat dripping from my forehead mixed with the heavy rain pouring down in the forest. I was getting exhausted but I couldn't stop not now. It had been around noon when I started running and now looking up the sky I could tell that it's been 5 hours give or take. A stench smell brought me out of my thoughts telling me that they were almost near. "Focus Raine! You know we can't shift now so it's your legs we're depending on" Sage my wolf scolded me. "Sorry for trying to see how long we have until my legs give out on us" I said back sarcastically. Growling could be heard not far behind me and my heart rate sped up. "Let's just go!" Sage said after sensing that we were almost being caught. I didn't say anything else back to her. We were both drained, hungry and our witty side would not help any of us at the moment. Sage especially was starting to get antsy since we were miles away from our territory the Silvermoon Pack. Just thinking about it sent shivers down my spine and an ache to my heart. All I could see was how blood was spattered everywhere, the lifeless eyes of my fellow pack mates staring at me as I run past them, a sharp pain piercing through my heart informing me that our Alpha had just been killed. Sage whimpered in my head as she too recalled all that had happened in less than 24hours. "It's gonna be okay Sage we're going to be okay." I don't know if I was trying to convince her or myself but she didn't answer me back. She cut off our connection and left me to my own thoughts. Pushing myself further than I ever had, I manage to twist my leg which gives the rogue that was close behind me enough time to pounce on me, his ferocious teeth sinking down my twisted leg. A scream erupts from my throat echoing through the forest at the pain running through my leg. I kicked the rogue with my good foot and it stumbles back leaving my wounded leg free from its grasp. I use that time to quickly get up and start running. The open cut on my leg would have started healing if it wasn't so deep. I continued running Sage giving me some of her strength so we could keep going. My red hair was sticking all over my face and down my back to my waist because of the rain pouring on us. For a 5'2 I sure could ran fast even with a wounded leg. I've always had an amazing speed, I was even faster than most Alphas and I could never be more grateful for that at this very moment. I would have easily ended the lives of the filthy rogues after me in just a few minutes but they had increased in number and I was too weak right now especially with my leg tore open. Plus showing them my true strength would not be in my favor right now as it would only give them more reason to call for more back up and I did not want that. It's better to let them believe that I was just a mere wolf who managed to escape their grasp. Still in my thoughts, I stumbled over my feet but managed to regain balance and continue running. "Raine I think we just crossed a pack's territory" Sage said. My feet immediately stopped on their own accord at Sage's words. "Well shit... If the rogues aren't gonna kill us then the Alpha of this pack definitely will. I don't see any of this situations ending with us sleeping in a comfy bed with lots of food" At the mention of rogues Sage immediately tenses but looking back weirdly there was no sign of them. Huh, well that wasn't weird at all. "Maybe they sensed the territory ahead of us and since we were so busy running we didn't notice them stop." Sage said still skeptical of them . "They probably knew that we were going to die either way" "Yeah you're right. And maybe we should turn back and go before they send their warriors to get us. " Before I even made a step forward, my legs gave up on me and I collapsed to the ground. Black dots started to cloud my vision before a faint scent of pinewood and cinnamon filled my nostrils. Sage howled in my head at the scent. I was too tired to give it any thought. I heard heavy footsteps and some voices from afar. Deciding to see who the voices belonged to, I tried to get up but my body would not let me. My eyelids started to become heavy and just before I fell into the pit of darkness I felt someone lifting me off the ground and murmuring words to me that I couldn't quite understand at the moment. I submitted to the darkness and welcomed it with open arms. Hey guys this is my first chapter of my first story. Please vote and comment. Thank you
