Chapter 1 What a man wants is to have all the luxurious and sexy cars on earth, but not Frederio Williams. He prefers to walk to go to school than to have luxurious cars and flaunt it. A lot of rich students do that but not him. The car will just get dust at the garage because he will not gonna use it. “Mom, I don’t need this car, I told you that so many times but you still bought a McLaren?” He told his mom. He was outside their mansion at the garage area, he saw a new McLaren his mom bought. Another fancy car but he doesn’t need a lot of cars. He has one and that’s enough. When Rio started to walk to his room his mother walk with him. “Son, I am just thankful because you are doing well at school, you will graduate as the batch valedictorian and that’s an honor, son! Your father and I are so happy, even your brothers and your sister! Are you not happy with my gift, Rio?” His mother told him. When they entered his room he looked at his mother. He sensed that she’s about to cry, he saw that his mother takes out a tissue and dramatically wipe the corner of her eyes. There’s no tears coming, my mom would be a great actress. “Vera will come here later, right Rio? she said that she will have a test on your new car. I am so happy that you are close with each other, son, is Vera has a boyfriend? She’s the only cousin you always talk to, Rio, why don’t you try to hang out with your male cousins? With Basty, Rizz and Gregory?” His Mother asked. Those idiots just wanted to play girls, and I don’t want to be with them. They’re not nice. He came from a wealthy family, since he was a kid he saw how his older cousins wasted their money on things that’s not really worth it. His cousins will buy a lot of cars, and they will just use it to have girlfriends they will use it to bully people. And that’s the worst thing he knew about them “Mom, Vera doesn’t have a boyfriend. And please don’t ask me if I have a girlfriend, I am young and I am more focus on studying than thinking about having a relationship.” He said. His mother wiped an invisible tear on her eyes as if she was touched by what he said. “Oh, son, please tell Vera to visit often okay? And please go out with her and enjoy outside, I saw you always reading on your room. Why, son? Am I pressuring you? Did papa and momma pressuring you to study hard for the future?” Rio wanted to roll his eyes because again, his mother is starting to be a dramatic queen in front of him. He knows his mother very well and if she started to act that way he needs to go near her and hug her and tell her that he’s fine. “Mom…” he said and walks closer to her mother, when he got near her he hugged her tight, “You are not pressuring me, I love to study, and I love the smell of the books. I want you and papa to be proud of me soon when I finish college that’s why I am studying hard.” The only thing that he likes about his mom is that she always makes sure that they’re not pressuring him to study. But they will never know Rio’s reason. If only I could tell the real reason why I don’t want to go outside why I am always locking myself inside my room. “Okay, son, just tell me if you need something okay? Oh, by the way! Congratulations! You will graduate as a valedictorian, actually the car I bought at the garage was not my gift, that’s another reward, I bought you a sports car as a gift because you are the batch valedictorian—and oh! It’s on the way!” Rio shook his head and answered, “Mom!” His mother run and leave him on his room. He can’t believe that his mother would waste money to buy cars he doesn’t need. Rio lies down on his bed and thinks about his high school life. Next week will be their graduation and he can’t think of a good speech. Their adviser told him that he needs to prepare a speech and their adviser needs to check it. “What am I going to say in front of thousands of students? I don’t even stand in front of hundreds of people and there, next week I need to give a speech for them and for their parents and take note, the pressure, because my parents and siblings and also my mamita and papito will be there.” Rio takes out his cell phone and check on his email. He emailed his adviser to ask if he can skip the speech and just let their adviser to read it for him, or if it is possible to let anyone read the speech that he will going to make. Now he has two problems. One, he can’t make a speech because he didn’t know what he will say; second, he can’t stand in front of many people. Rio rolled on his huge bed and throws his cell phone on the sofa near him. He’s sure that Vera will laugh at him when he saw his situation. The woman always teases him, but he can’t hide the fact that even Vera is so mean he can’t live without that bish, Vera knows his secret and she’s like a living diary for Rio. When he remembers that Vera would visit him he immediately gets up and took his cellphone. He dialled her number and after a few rings Vera answered the call. “Why?! Why are you calling so early in the morning, Riodio?!” Rio distant his cell phone when he heard his cousin’s loud voice. “Rio? Frederio?” Rio closed his eyes. He wanted to smack his cousin’s face for calling him Frederio. He hates it when someone is calling him by his real name.
