Chapter 2

“Rio? Frederio?”

He breathes hard before saying a word to his bish cousin. Vera really knows how to annoy him and that is by calling him by his first name.

“You are really happy calling me by my real name, right Vera?” he asked.

He heard a strong laugh on the other line; he can’t believe the woman laughed at what he said! He will get even when she arrives at their mansion. He will make sure of that.

“What time are you going here? And please, Vera, wake up early, your time of early is 11:00 am?” he asked.

Since they were in elementary Vera never goes to school early. She was always late at school and because she’s the daughter of the school director no one was scolding her at school except his mother and father.

“Just wait for my text message, Frederio, you are not going anywhere don’t you? I sleep late last night because of the book I was reading and I am still sleepy right now. I will call you if I am on the way, bye!”

Rio was about to say something but the bish cut the line. She will never change, that’s what on his mind. Vera sleeps late at night and wake up late in the morning, Vera’s place was just two blocks away from their mansion and because they’re cousins, his father’s siblings are living at the same village.

When Rio heard a knock on the door he walk closer and opened it, then he saw their maid Anita.

“Yes, Anita?” he asked.

Anita smiled at him and handed him a tray of food. When Rio saw that he smiled at the maid. Anita knows that he rarely go out of his room to eat breakfast, maybe she noticed that he’s not yet going down.

The maid has a worried expression on her face, she touched his left cheek and pinch it, “Rio dear, aren’t you hungry? You didn’t eat breakfast with your mother.”

Small things like that made him feel important. His siblings always go to work early in the morning, they eat at their companies and even weekends they are still working. He rarely sees them.

“Thank you, Anita, you always brought food when I am not going down to eat. By the way where is mom? Did she tell you to bring foods for me?” he asked and takes the tray of food.

Anita shook his head and smiled at him, “Your mom told me that she’s going at the nearest spa to have her nails and lashes done. How about you eat and we talk, Rio dear?”

The old maid was so close to him because when he was little she always teaches him what a kid needs to know from his parents. When he was a kid he complained to his mom that they’re always working and that they forget about him, Anita explained to him that his parents are working for them to have a better future.

He told Anita that they’re already rich, and why do his parents still needs to earn money? Anita told him that money is temporary that it can be wasted just in one day, his parents’ needs to make sure that their business is standing and can last until he graduates and have a nice job.

The maid was always there to give him advises until now that he’s in high school. He’s now 18 years old and soon he will go to college with Vera. He will use all of Anita’s advices to him.

“Your mom cook the pancakes, eggs and hotdogs, Rio dear, she told me that she wanted to prepare something for you because she noticed that you are thinking so deep and maybe you have a problem that you doesn’t want to talk about,”

“Rinalia said that… in that way maybe she can cheer you up.”

Rio smiled after what he heard. His mom is the sweetest. She never let him feel down and every time that she thought he’s feeling down she would hug him and do something for him.

But he felt guilty for hiding something. He knows that his mom did not deserve to keep it a secret.

“Thank you, Anita; you can sit on my sofa.” He said.

Anita has no idea about his true self. The old maid did not know that he is gay and even though he knows that she will not tell it to anyone he keep that secret between him and Vera. The only person who knows the secret is his bish cousin Vera Grasya.

“Did you already eat, Anita?” He asked.

Anita nodded her head, “I ate already with the other maids before I brought your food here. Go on, don’t mind me Rio dear, and just eat.”

 While he was eating Anita asked if he will going outside because it’s Saturday.

“No, I will stay here at the mansion; Vera will come and visit again.” He said.

“Rio dear, don’t you want to go outside and enjoy yourself? I noticed that since you are in first year high school you rarely go out and enjoy yourself.”

Rio stares at the pancakes on his plate. He stopped going out when he found out that he likes men. When he told Vera that he is gay he was so afraid that someone will find out his secret that’s why after school he will go straight at home and he never goes to the mall and also to avoid seeing men.

Rio thought that avoiding men could turn him into a straight man and maybe he will like a girl again but he was wrong. Years have passed and nothing change, he was still attracted to men and even if he saw beautiful girls he will just pass by on them.

When Vera knows the truth he thought that his bish cousin would laugh but she hugged him. She told him that she’s thankful for saying the truth. Vera confessed that she actually noticed something on him and that she has a hint about him being gay.
