20 Ti Tree police station was a small, two-man station located on the service road, one hundred and fifty metres north of the Ti Tree Roadhouse. Staffed by officer-in-charge, Senior Constable Jim ‘Chook’ Fowler and his partner Mathew ‘Mickey’ Rooney, the building appeared deserted. The station four-wheel-drive Toyota was gone, and when Cameron Barker tried the door, he found it locked. He stepped to a window, peered inside, and confirmed the one-room building was empty.
