What Kael saw made his blood boil and his claws itched to tear the world apart.
His mate was writhing on the cold floor, a harsh gasp trapped in her throat and a man above her fought to pin her down.
Kael’s eyes turned darker than night instant he recognized him.
The leader of his own soldiers.
A trusted man.
A high-ranked warrior.
Touching his mate!
A strong wave of rage surged through Kael so violently that the fire on the walls seemed to flicker with it. His wolves roared inside him with a savage united scream that rattled every corner of his mind.
‘Protect. Kill. Mate in danger. Now!’
Kael’s pulse hammered. The air around him tightened. Heat flooded his veins until it felt like molten iron was pumping through him.
His face jerked as his wolf pushed forward.
His eyes burned, one turning from storm-grey to a blinding glowing yellow while the other bleeded into a deep animalistic blood-red gleam.
His fingers curled, nails shivering before bursting into long inhuman claws. His jaw tightened, bones shifting beneath his skin and two sharp fangs descended past his lips.
His yellow iris shone sharply hearing the quivering cries of his mate.
And in the next moment, Kael stormed in like a beast he was. His hand shot down at the hovering soldier and pierced his neck with his lengthened claw, ripping a scream out of the man.
“ARGH! WHO THE-UGH!”
Kael seized his throat. His strength had multiplied. All of his wolves roared to shift him fully but Kael forced them down before lifting the man and hurling him across the cell with all his strength. The soldier crashed against the stone wall with a loud choking grunt.
Liana gasped in the darkness. She scrambled upright while crying. She didn’t understand what was happening-only that someone else had come. In terror, she crawled into a corner and curled herself into a ball.
Kael grabbed the soldier and slammed against the wall again and again. The man’s eyes widened in sheer dread as he faced their alpha king and saw the inhuman glow in his iris.
His bones locked in fear because their king couldn’t be just an alpha they knew. He was something far deadlier-something that should not exist. The redness in his eyes says it all.
He screamed every single time his head was slammed against the stone.
The strength was so brutal and powerful, the stone wall cracked with another head slam. And the soldier’s head split down the middle.
Liana pressed her palms to her ears and buried her face in her knees. Tears streamed down like waterfalls. Her body trembled in terror at every thud and howl.
The soldier barely managed a gasp before Kael’s sharp claws sank into his neck. His elongated canines sharpened like a knife before sinking deep into flesh. With a vicious pull, Kael ripped him apart.
The soldier screamed his lungs out at the pain. His flesh was torn from his body. Blood spattered but Kael pulled back before it could drench him.
In an instant, the man was nothing but a lifeless body.
He shoved the body against the wall harshly. His chest heaved with anger as he glared at the lifeless figure.
‚Mate! Mate! Mate! Claim!’
Kael’s head snapped back at the growl of his wolves and his gaze fell on his mate who was huddled in the corner with her face buried. His eyes were still alive. He was burning with a dangerous untamable fury. The silence fell over heavily.
Liana sobbed quietly. She flinched at the sudden stillness and lifted her head to meet the darkness. She gulped when she noticed a massive figure in the darkness. She raised her head higher and-
Her breath stuck in terror seeing a pair of eyes glowing in the darkness. One yellow, one deep red. They stared at her like he was a beast preparing to feast on her. She couldn’t see his face, only the terrifying intent in those eyes.
Her body quivered. He looked like an animal.
Liana couldn’t think anymore. Her mind went blank and her vision blurred. Black dots swam before her eyes. Every bone of her body stiffened with fear.
And then, with a shudder, she collapsed to the floor unconsciously.
Kael clenched his teeth at her weakness. He closed his eyes, retracting his long claws and letting his fangs vanish. His eyes still glowed with an unnatural intensity
Then he took slow, predatory steps forward and bent down. The moment his hand came in contact with her skin, every howl of his wolves fell silent. They calmed down instantly and his eyes slowly lost their glow, fading back to stormy grey.
He lifted her effortlessly in a bridal hold. His fingers dug into her soft skin with zero strength. Because if he used one percent of his strength, every inch of her bones will shatter in a second.
Kael exhaled, surprised at how light she was.. like a bird’s feather. He strode out of the cell with her in his arms. He hated how she affected him.
He ascended from the basement. Kael didn't know what he was thinking. His steps were heavy as he moved down the corridor as if pulled by some unseen force.
Finally, after reaching his destination, he halted. A twitch hit in his body when he realized where he had come.
His bedroom!
