Episode 5: Regrettable act

"I think Diana is right this time around, listen to her." Annabell smiles at me and tapped my shoulder, as she leaves the room also.

I was left all alone in the room, with my thoughts. I knew what I did was wrong, and I should have listened to him first, before reacting at all!

Well, I'm not to be blamed for that! Men have done a lot of awful things to me, so I don't want to tolerate any of them for now, not even Mason. After I have gone through a lot of heartbreaks in the past, the last one I dated, Raphael, promised me heaven and earth but later got married to someone else.

Once they've seen what's between your thighs, they would proceed to someone newer! They see you like the cheap ones, and go for the expensive ones!

Raphael made me understand that I was so cheap! Imagine! He told me, I should always place high self-esteem on myself whenever I'm in a relationship. All I did was try to be a good girl, by giving him s*x all the time.

But it seems I was wrong about that. s*x only, won't keep a man. You need to work on your self-esteem first, before giving your all into any relationship.

So, I've been very extra careful when it comes to men... What happened between Mason and me, was just a mistake, under the influence of alcohol. I was still thinking all to myself how to apologize to Mason when a mail entered my phone.

When I checked it, it turns out to be an email from Crystal Mind Publishing Company. It reads thus:

"Hi, Miss Williams, we are sorry to urgently inform you that, your presence is needed at the meeting that would be held today, by noon. Sorry for any inconvenience that we might have caused you! From CMPC..."

I dropped my phone on the bed after reading the email and checked the time. "It's past 8 in the morning, I still have time to prepare ahead for the meeting!"

I said to myself and got up from the bed. What came to my mind instantly as I got up was, Mason! I will have to apologize to him for being rude, before, or after the meeting.

After breakfast and I was done preparing for the meeting, Annabell came over to meet me in the room.

"You're ready for the meeting, right?" She asked me while she sits on the bed.

"Yeah, I'm ready! Just waiting until it's 11 am, so I can leave." I replied to her while dabbing the powder on my face.

"So tell me, what's going on between you and that guy we met at the club?" Annabell sounds serious as she asked me.

I was applying my mascara when she caught me off guard with her question, and I mistakenly splashed the Mascara on my face.

"W-what are you talking about? Nothing is going on between us!" I sounded somehow defensive with my answer, as I made sure not to look her in the eyes.

"Oh, okay then!" Annabell replies and walks out of the room. I quickly adjusted the makeup on my face and heads out of the house after I was done.

In no time, I arrived at the company around 11:50 am. The first thing I did, was to go look for Mason at his office. But unfortunately, he wasn't there.

So I proceeded to where the meeting is being held. When I got into the conference room, I met some dignitaries, being seated in the room. Mason was also seated as well. He looks so dashing with the pair of blue pants jeans, and a white shirt he was putting on.

His outfit seems casual but looks so expensive. What caught my eyes when I was about to sit down was a lady sitting next to Mason.

She looks so beautiful, and her outfit speaks of top-notch quality! She has a natural makeup on, and the way she speaks is what I call, high-class!

I looked at everyone seated, and it seems I'm the only one who looks odd among them. What I'm putting on, speaks less of me compared to others.

I wasn't focusing on what they were saying, rather, I was busy staring at this gorgeous lady. 'How I wish I can be like her!' I thought to myself, inwardly.

I was already lost in thoughts, when someone besides me, just tapped me by the side. I looked up and was surprised that, all eyes are on me.

"What do you have to say to this, Miss Williams?" Mason asked with a frown as he glares at me.

"H-huh!"

I had no idea what they were talking about because I never paid attention from the onset. I was occupied with the thought of the gorgeous lady beside Mason.

Since I have nothing to say, I composed myself and nodded my head in response. From Mason's facial expression, someone could tell that, he seems angry. But I had no idea what was getting him angry.

After I nodded my head, Mason only looked away and turned to the lady; "Miss Parson, we will go with your idea then!" He said to her and they called it a day.

I made sure almost everyone steps out of the conference room, including Mason before I stand up and turned to leave also.

"Miss Williams right?" A calm, sweet feminine voice said to me from behind, as I was about to step outside the conference room.

I turned to see the lady, I'd been admiring since I got to the meeting. She moved closer to where I was standing and smiles at me.

'Wow! Her smiles seem lovely too!' I muttered inwardly, as I kept on staring at her beautiful face.

"I'm Mitchell Parson, nice meeting you dear!" She stretched forth her right hand towards me, for a handshake.

"I'm Khloe Williams, the pleasure is all mine ma'am!" I quickly replied and shake her with both hands. Her hand seems so soft when I touched it, and I could tell that she must be very comfortable.

"Common, am I that old?" She let out a chuckle, as she asked me.

"No, no oh, you're not at all!" I instantly interjected with a smile.

"I'm only joking Khloe! And please, just call me Mitchell."

"Okay, ma- sorry Mitchell!"

As we were both laughing, a young guy in his early twenties, came to whisper something into her ear, and from the way she responded to him, I could tell that's her assistant.

Mitchell wished me good luck and bid farewell to me, as she leaves with the guy. After they left, I was so excited to know that, she isn't only beautiful, but also kindhearted. That makes me like her more.

I got out of the conference room also and headed to Mason's office. This time around, he is in the office. I rearranged my dress properly and knocked on the door.

"Come in!" He answered from inside.

When I got into the office, I saw him just sitting down, and going through his phone. He raised his head to look at me for a sec and returned to what he was doing.

The warm and sweet smile that he always puts on whenever he sees me, seems not to be there anymore. He frowned his face as he tells me to sit. "What could be going on?" I kept on thinking to myself as I sat.

"Any problem?" Mason asked, looking unconcerned with my presence.

"Humm, I would like to apologize for what I did in the morning. It was after I dropped the call, I got to know that, my friend gave you my number last night. I had no idea at all when you first called. I'm deeply sorry for being rude."

"Ok!" Mason replied and looked away.

'Just ok!' I mumbled inward angrily while staring at the way he was giving me the cold shoulder.

After 3 minutes of me not saying anything to him, he raised his head and said to me; "If that's all, you can take your leave now. I have something much important to do!"

I felt embarrassed when he told me such a rude thing, that I started blaming myself for coming to apologize to him in the first place. If I had known, I wouldn't have listened to Diana!

'What an arrogant fellow!' I thought inwardly, as I stood up and turned to leave. When I was about to open the door, someone else opened it from behind, and it turns out to be another elegant lady.

As soon as she enters the office, she ignored me at the door and went straight to meet Mason.

"Do I look that bad, that she had to think less of me like I don't exist at all!" I murmured to myself, with anger, all filled inside me.

"Hey baby," She hugged Mason on the chair and kissed him on the lips.

As I turned to look at them, Mason and I locked eyes...
