Chapter 3

“What are you doing in my house?”Jade glared at the smirking “shades” boy of earlier.

“I see you haven’t done your research” shade left the door and walked inside the house.

The house had a polished marble floor, its surface smooth as glass,leading to a lavish living room where a roaring fireplace, its flames dancing and crackling, casts a warm glow over plush velvet sofas and armchairs in a rich, jewel-toned hue. The walls, painted a soft, creamy white.

“What research?”

“I see you’ve already met your step brother Kaden”

“Stepbrother..stepbrother”continuously rang in her head.

“You kidding right?you sure Rowan didn’t pickup the wrong baby or something ?”Jade asked in disbelief.

“Unfortunately not” Rowan, Kaden’s father and Maya’s husband said,something hiding in his words.

“I can see where he got the good looks and all but you really have to recheck that hospital” Jade said while she gave Rowan a kiss on his cheek. A kiss she always used to avoid hugs.

“Noted”He winked then stood side by side with Maya.

Rowan was quite the handsome man,not looking like someone who has spent 45 years on earth,his thick brown hair curly hair and black eyes communicating with his sharp jawline in perfect harmony.

Kaden was like an enhanced version,his sea blue iris having some speckles of gold captivating someone’s soul.

“Have you guys met before?” Maya asked sensing the electricity.

“Yes and had a lot of curses for you…dad”Kaden said while slumping on the couch.

“At least now I know it wasn’t your dad’s teachings”Jade mumbled.”I’m going up to change meet you guys later”

When she got to her room she slumped on the bed thinking about today especially with the identity of this brother.

Jade should have known how her step brother looked like but she never cared to look,she heard is name one too many times from her mom who became best friends with Kaden. He has been staying in Italy since he was 13, losing his mom a year later,the wedding between Rowan and Maya took place five years ago when Jade was sixteen,the wedding should have been a perfect meet but he never showed up .

It is to be noted that if Jade and Kaden hadn’t met earlier she would have kicked herself in the butt for not knowing this brother of hers but now she praised herself for giving no f**k.

The anger of the day got to her and she wholeheartedly decided to repay his kindness,She sneaked into his room which was opposite hers, the room was identical to hers but nicely refurbished,the bedroom had a serene retreat, feature plush carpets, expansive closets.

She was surprised they didn’t paint it black for him.

Looking at the closet all the light bulbs in her head lit up.

She ran quickly to the closet bringing out every clothes he brought along with him.

Of course there was no other color except from black grey and white,even the first television had more colors than him.Jade thought

she came out of the room and sneaked into the laundry which was at the far end of the lobby after making a right turn,passing Maya and Rowan’s room.

She filled the washing machine with as much clothes it can take,setting the dryer at 150 degree Fahrenheit.

After leaving it for a long while the clothes shrunk and looked faded.

With a smile on her face and a successful evil act done she folded the clothes back neatly and arranged it in his closet.

She went back into her room humming happily.

After taking her showers she dozed off immediately,too tired to come down to eat dinner.

The next morning’s dinner Jade woke early to gloat at her successful plan,she rushed to her bathroom when she realized she was running late.

After spending minutes bathing she dried her hair and packed it into a loose ponytail,she went to her closet and picked a light blue Jean trousers and a white tank top matching it with a black sneakers.

She picked her bag and her phone then texted Leah

“Readyyyyy”

Two minutes later Leah responded “be there tomorrow”

Jade rolled her eyes and came out of the room,at the same time the door opposite her room opened.

She was prepared to laugh at his situation when she saw someone who looked like a 40s demon from a magazine.He adorned a black wide legged trousers on a black dress shirt,with the sleeves folded neatly to his elbow point,with a barely noticeable suspenders,a black Oxford shoe gracing his feet,everything complimenting his six feet three inches height.

When he saw her he held her gaze for a long time until she turned her head quickly.

When she looked back he had already reached the stairs.

“Should I just quickly buy him new clothes to spare my sanity???”she thought

“I created a soul stealer!!”

She cursed herself few times then went downstairs for lunch.

She sat down on the dinning table after greeting Maya and Rowan.

The table was rectangular Maya and Rowan sitting opposite Jade and Kaden.

She heard Rowan asking Kaden why he was wearing his clothes.

“So Rowan was the innocent traitor!” Jade grumbled internally.

“Your step daughter knows better”Kaden said calmly as he munched on his toast.

“What!!!how dare you!” Jade said in a weird British accent.

“I also did not find a few of my brief”

“I think someone has a fetish” He whispered into her ear.

Jade choked on the food she was eating while Maya quickly helped her fetch some water

“Thank you” she smiled at Maya then turned and glared at Kaden who was looking at her dubiously.

“I didn’t take your smelling underwear!”

She didn’t take them but she definitely knew it wasn’t smelling as she sniffed out the scent from his clothes in her previous escapades.

“Okay ”he said.

“But babe are you sure those are your clothes?” Maya asked her husband.

“Yes,why?”

“Nothing”her and Jade snickered at their common thought.

After breakfast when Leah arrived;she was about to meet her outside when Maya asked Kaden to drop her off

“I’d be fine mom” she shouted as she closed the door.

When she turned she saw Kaden inches away from her face.

“kindly let what ever relationship we have end immediately we step out of this house,I do not appreciate rumor mongers”

“What do you mean?,you think I want to be associated with you?stop being ridiculous” She laughed then walked towards Leah’s car that was packed in their compound.

“Who’s that?”Leah asked with a drool more than yesterday,it was obvious she didn’t recognize him,she had painfully made an handsome beast.

“My step brother” she smiled while Leah screamed.
