Chapter Three

907 Words
Later in the night, a guard approached my cell with good news. "My lady, the Alpha sent me to you. He asked me to help you escape from the cell and away from the pack." "I am coming back at midnight when everyone else is asleep, so you won't think I want to harm you, that is why I came to tell you first," the guard said and left. Grace brought my dinner not long after. "I have delivered your message, Zina. Please promise me you will escape and seek revenge against Liam before he makes life miserable for the rest of us when he becomes the Alpha." "I will try my best; I promise you. Thanks for delivering my message." I was anxious until the guards came later at midnight. He unlocked the door with a key and led me outside the dungeon. "There is a secret passage from the Alpha's chamber that leads to the dungeon. That's where we are going to pass into the house," the guard said in a hushed voice. "Why are we going back into the Alpha's house? We should be running away from the pack," I protested. "You don't understand; the dungeon is very close to two different guards' stations. So they could see any prisoner that escapes." "Our best option is to escape through the house; you should disguise as a maid when you get into the house," the guard advised. As he opened the secret door, I couldn't believe a secret door was in the dungeon and I didn't know. It was well disguised as a wall. "Past Alphas use this particular cell to house their prisoners so they could interrogate them at will. They made a secret passage; I don't think Liam knows about the passage." As we got into the Alpha's Chamber, it was empty. "This is where my job ends. I wish you good luck in your endeavors." The guard went back through the secret passage. I stepped into the hallway and checked for any sound, but I didn't hear any. I walked to the laundry, saw the maid's uniforms, and took the one that fitted me. As I walked through the hallway, I overheard a conversation going on in Liam's room, and couldn't resist the urge to eavesdrop. "That sick man should just die quickly and let me punish that pest he harbored," Liam said bitterly. "Don't worry yourself. As long as she stays in the cell, your father's condition doesn't improve; we are fine," Riley replied. "Alpha Hunter always warned Liam to stay away from Riley, but he rejected his mate because she is an omega to be with her. I don't know what Alpha Hunter did to deserve this kind of child." I tiptoed to the kitchen and exited the house through the door. As I walked in the shadows of the trees, I could feel a sense of relief. After trekking for a while, I heard horns blaring from the Alpha's house. I knew instantly that my cover had been blown. Who went to my cell in the middle of the night, for crying out loud? I knew a search party would be out for me any moment. I started running in the direction of the park's Market; that is the last place they would search for me. When I got to the market, I found a search party there already. I decided to try my luck. I removed my clothes in the shadows of a*****e and shifted into a wolf. Carrying my clothes in my mouth, I dashed for the outskirts of the park. I don't care where it leads as long as I don't get caught. Panic raged through my mind as I ran with all my strength. It is a bitter-sweet experience because I have never experienced the pleasure of the wolf power. As I ran through the woods, I heard a howl from a werewolf; the howl was alerting other werewolves. I looked back, and I saw three werewolves giving me a hot chase. I couldn't back down, so I increased my pace. I suddenly sensed that I was being gradually surrounded. I quickly climbed a tree. I can't believe I did, but I climbed the tree. Maybe I am the Dane wolf. As they combed the woods, they couldn't find me. Liam joined them shortly after because, as an Alpha wolf, he was larger than the other wolves. He was the only one who sensed that I was on the tree. He mind-linked the others that I was on the tree. They started howling to scare me down from the tree. I knew it wasn't going to be long before they found a way to get me down from the tree. I jumped from the tree, and landed on two wolves, knocking them out. I sped through the woods, knocking another wolf out on the way. Liam's wolf was giving a hot chase; he was very close behind me. I couldn't give him a chance to catch up with me. I don't know where I was headed, but I kept running. I turned through a sharp corner. I didn't know it was a cliff. I skidded to a halt, but it was too late; I fell over. As I was falling, I tried to use my claw to grab the branch of a tree, but my hand couldn't grab it. I heard a loud crash.
