Roman’s POV
“Huh?” Asher my Wolf said in my head, hearing her say that. Her words were like a blow to him and me as well but I didn't feel too hurt because I was quick to suppress that feeling.
“Is she just using us?” Asher asked, a bit annoyed but I managed to push him to the back of my mind.
“What do you mean? Aren't we supposed to work together?” I asked, with raised brows. If she only needed my power, it meant she could leave me at any time as long as her revenge was done.
“You heard me, Your Majesty. You do not need to interfere with anything. Just grant me power to do as I wish.” I heard her say, and I chuckled in disbelief. Who did she think I was? Some puppet?
“I don't think that will be possible,” I spoke up with a disapproving look on my face. I was still seated on the bed when she moved closer to me. Immediately, I caught a whiff of her scent and it intoxicated me. She smelled like fresh roses but with the way she looked at me, she was a perfect fit for a wild one.
“Why is it not possible?” She asked, her eyes boring into mine. It was like she was challenging me to speak and I raised my brows at her, realizing she was a challenge, one I would love to conquer. I straightened up immediately, keeping my distance from her and I answered.
“How do I trust that you would use my power wisely? You could get intoxicated with it and use it unjustly.” I gave a reason and even though it sounded a bit odd since she wanted to take revenge, it was still important that I knew her moves. Her story about her ex-mate had not even been verified yet.
“So, you still suspect me, huh?” She asked and I looked at her with a neutral smile on my face. With the raging emotions of my Wolf and I aside, as a King, I wasn't meant to just trust anyone. Even if that person bore my mark on her.
There was a sudden silence between us and I realized that she had taken offense to my words. I turned to her to say something but she beat me to it first.
“I will gladly offer my ex-mate’s head to you to prove my honesty. After that, you can withdraw every power you grant me.” She said, firmly while staring straight at me. Why did it feel like she was staring into my soul or was it because no woman had dared to look at me that way?
“But…” I spoke up but she beat me to it again.
“That does not mean I have to tell you everything I do. I will get my revenge in my own way.” She declared and I raised my brows at her.
“She is feisty! I like her!” Asher said in my head and I nodded.
“Me too,” I replied because the way she appealed to me was unusual. Her charisma and the way she stood her ground while opposing me effortlessly were top-notch. It was like I had found my worthy match.
“Okay!” I replied to her and she nodded, agreeing with her words. She could use my power just as she wanted. I couldn't compel her to follow my words and somehow I liked it that way. She had a triumphant smile on her face while I had one filled with questions, admiration, and a little bit of worry.
What if she gets hurt in the process of her revenge? I could hear Asher already screaming in my head to stop the revenge if she was going to get hurt.
“You can now leave, Your Majesty. I need to freshen up.” I heard her say and I froze for a moment and my smile slipped. She wanted me to leave and somehow, I didn't want to.
“Talk to her! We are not leaving!” Asher yelled in my head. He was starting to get aggressive and it was because of her. Her scent was making him act out of line and usually, he was a very calm and cold Wolf, he just seemed to have snapped in her presence.
“What is your name?” I thought up something quickly so I wouldn't leave and I just realized that I didn't know her name.
“Jorjette Carlson is my name. You could do a background check if you want.” She replied with a sassy tone and then looked away. Slowly, she climbed off the bed and walked toward a door by the side, it was the bathroom. It was at this moment I really saw that her clothes looked filthy.
“You should take a bath. I'll be right here.” I said to her and then turned my back to her, to look straight at the painting. I wanted to avoid looking at her, so she wouldn't ask me to leave. But once again, the painting reminded me of my throne and the fact that I had one more person to protect. Jorjette.
Before long, I heard the sounds of water coming from the bathroom and I swallowed. It was like there was a lump in my throat as an image of Jorjette appeared in my mind. In my head, I looked down from her face to see her fair breasts staring back at me with water dripping down on them. The trail of water traveled down to her nether regions, making me see a good view of her thighs.
“Take her!” Asher ordered in my head and I came back to my senses, immediately. My heart skipped a beat as I realized that image had been in my head alone. She was starting to cloud my head and my Wolf wasn't helping.
A few seconds later, the door opened up and my head snapped to look at her. There she was, with her hair dripping wet and the water seeped into the bathrobe around her body.
“Does she really look like what I imagined?” I asked myself while I slowly stood up to my feet, just to get a better view of her.
“She is all yours to take, Roman,” Asher whispered and I nodded. My Wolf wanted that and I couldn't deny that I wanted it too. It had just been hours since I met her and I already felt this mad lust filled with love for her. Was it because I marked her? Was a bond with a chosen mate this potent?
I took a step forward toward her and then another. I just wanted to have her and discard that hideous robe that hid the beautiful body that I imagined. I was close to her when her voice stopped me suddenly.
“Your Majesty, I have no clothes to wear.” She spoke up and I came to a complete halt. My heart stopped and all those dirty images in my head were wiped out.
“Oh, you don't,” I said with a shaky nod, realizing she had come here without notice and I had to provide dresses for her. But then as I looked at her, she was calm with clear eyes. I could see no emotion in them and it was as if she was waiting for me to just get the clothes for her.
Was that all? Was that all she wanted, didn't she feel anything?
“Jorjette…” I called out with a slight part of my lips. I wanted to feel her Wolf too, trying to make a connection with her but Asher wasn't getting anything. It was like I was alone in this whirlpool of overwhelming feelings.
“Yes?” She answered.
“Do you feel what I feel?” I asked, expectantly.
