Bella's Alpha

Not the Alpha

  Bella's POV - 

  I drive to the clinic in complete silence so I am able to run through different scenarios in my head of how to treat, with what, how am I going to keep his body from heeling to get the bullets out, has the silver spread through out his blood. There are so many questions that I can't answer before getting there. The drive is only 7 minutes, instantly I type in my code and call Candace to inform her it is a family member and that she does not need to come in. I look at the clock and it is 11:17 they should be here any minute. I hurry and grab a gurney, blood thinners, and oxygen I have no idea what to expect. I start to walk back to my office to throw on some scrubs and my tennis shoes since I keep it all here for emergencies. Just as I begin to walk that way the door flies open with a terrified Eli and an unconscious Alpha. "Place him on the gurney, is he awake, and how many bullets?" I ask while walking back to them. Eli has laid him down "He hasn't been conscious since the phone call, and 3 shots gone off I don't know if they all hit him or not." He says out of breath. I grab my pen light and open each eye to check for brain function, 'MATE, MATE, MATE' Novah starts yelling in my head as I freeze staring at him. It feels like I am floating on a cloud, while looking into the emerald green eyes. 

      "Bella, come on what are we doing we got to move!" My brother starts yelling breaking me out of my daze. My mother is standing behind him, I furrow my eye brows confused "Mate" I whisper only I could hear it before snapping into mode. "Ok bring him to room 6 it is the last one on the left, I have it set up, I need to change out of these clothes" I state, my brother starts heading that way as I run to my office and change, I had to block Novah out I need to save his life, she needs to chill out because I can't focus on mate stuff right now. There is no way I am mated to Chris she has got to be confused. I quickly change into clean underwear I wash my face and throw my hair up before sliding into my scrubs and shoes. 

    Once I get to room 6 Chris is now flailing his arms around growling, "What is going on?!" I yell "his wolf is trying to get out." My brother responds struggling to hold him down, Chris is only 3 inches taller than Eli but with his alpha blood he could kill Eli no problem. I walk to the opposite side of the bed and inject Propofol to sedate him, within seconds he is lying still and asleep. Quickly I hook up the monitors and begin cutting his clothes off. I can see that there is a bullet hole heeling on his left stomach and one on his left arm. I give him Heparin to thin his blood to slow the heeling process, I begin to open up the hole on his stomach and search for the bullet I can see it logged into his spleen. Luckily I have trained my brother in minor situations I hold out my hand "Clamp" He hands it to me we are attempting to make it as sterile as possible but with Werewolves it doesn't matter much. I clamp the artery supplying where the bullet is lodged and I quickly have another forceps in my hand I grab the bullet out and hand it to my brother. It doesn't burn us since we have our gloves on. Grabbing sutures I sew the wound shut then release the clamp and watch for bleeders once I am sure I flush the wound and begin to close the muscle and skin on top. 

    The bullet wound on his arm is less urgent due to it did not hit an artery. I easily remove the bullet and sew up the wound. Luckily with this one his monitors are not going crazy like when I was in his abdomen, man those things are annoying I forget how annoying since we don't have many injuries' like this coming into our facility because if it wasn't a werewolf he would have been sent to the hospital, but we live in a town where werewolves are fiction. We had turned Alpha over to make sure he didn't have any other wounds and I make sure the bandages are in place. I can feel the adrenaline fading as I go and make a cup of coffee, I am not use to having to do so much work anymore with my nurses here. It is already 1:00 am before I shoot James a text. 

Bella: Sorry I had to run out in the middle of our date, everything is fine we got everything under control fast and about to head home. 

'why don't you just let him now that you can't see him' Novah chimes in, I must be tired to let her through. 'Novah, you know I never wanted to find our mate. Plus he is engaged to be married, he will probably reject us' Just saying that I can feel my heart breaking.  'Yeah, yeah, yeah I know but Bella he is here we can talk to him about all that.' I sigh I know she is right but I can't let my guard down.

James: We will definitely need to rain check (; I am glad everything is good enjoy the time with your family. 

    I smile as I read his response while I sit down next to my mom, Shelly, "Who is that? He has you smiling like a 15 year old looking at her crush" she asks, "James , we had to cut our date short after Eli called me" I reply. "Hmm, seemed like a little more than a date considering the outfit you showed up in" I know I am turning red with my moms remarks I just hide my face instead of responding. "Your going to be 26 years old, I know you are having s*x Bella don't make it weird" She responds with a chuckle at the end. "I am done with that conversation, how are you holding up? I know Alpha Chris is like a son to you?' I ask and a sad expression doesn't go unnoticed as it flashes away, "He is always so strong for the pack and he gets shot when he is with us. I don't get it how did anyone know he was leaving the territory?" She shakes her head responding I could hear the break in her voice so I decide not to press it. "I am going to check on him he is going to be ok mom we are all here for him and for you". 

    I am walking back to the exam room and I begin to smell fresh brewed coffee, like the good kind on a Sunday morning, incase you have haven't noticed I live off of coffee and tequila. This smell could bring me to my knees it is so intoxicating I smell the coffee I have in my hand and it stinks making my nose crinkle but the scent is not leaving me and it seems to be getting stronger. I continue walking into the exam room I see Chris trying to get out of Eli's hold as his head snap towards me "Mate" he says.
