Chapter 5 Chelsea POV

" Arakas, Arakas come on" I huffed as I walked back and forth in the hall. It was late, but I couldn't sleep. Adam was sound asleep and I had snuck out. I needed to speak with him. My mind was whirling with different outcomes and plan and ideas and I felt like I was drowning. " He is not here. He and Mum went home. Our home is designed so that our magic or any magic can not be used or get in. My mother's idea to keep me and dad humble. Right now, he is just a mortal hum living in a mortal home. So, he can not hear you. He has to step outside to regain his magic. I am guessing he is sleeping soundly like a human would with no noise in his head right now "' Nate's voice said behind me. I turned to look at him, he was resting against the wall by the window with his hands tucked into his pockets. " Your father willingly living like a mortal ? " I asked. He turned his head to look at me, a cheeky smile on his face, he let out a little laugh. " Aunt Sophie couldn't quite believe it either, until she visited. She stood watching him like he had grown three heads when he had to go pour his own drink, or make her and Uncle Dante dinner with his own hands. Shame she hasn't watched him try to clean the bathroom. That took him some getting used to. Dad didn't much like it at first. Now he enjoys the peace and the mundane of doing laundry " he smiled again. I opened my mouth to speak, but then closed it and let out a breath and laughed " Well, that does take me by surprise. But what if there is an emergency ? " I asked and Nate pushed himself off of the wall and clicked his fingers, a glass landing in his hand just like his father would do. " There is a way for such things; woven into the spell is one loophole. If we are ever attacked or someone needs us, everyone here knows it. It must have slipped his mind to tell you, just shout his demon name his full one " he stated. " He hasn't gone by that in hundreds of thousands of years" I said, and he nodded. " Exactly no one really knows him by it "Nate stated. He looked up at the ceiling. " ASMODEOUS " he shouted. Then he looked back at me. " He will be here soon, he has to get outside " he told me. I nodded and looked over at him " What are you still doing awake ? " I asked him. He shrugged," I have this feeling my mate is close, my magic is tingling inside of me constantly mum says that is what jinns feel before they meet their mates. Uncle Fero and Tiron said the same too. So I have been zipping around seeing if I can find them with no luck so far "he sighed. " How old are you now ? " I asked, and he laughed "You were away a long time, Aunt Natassa. The children in the bunch are all nearly reaching their hundredth years. Our parents have been on the council for quite some time. They have been happy but those not given mortality age now, and it makes our parents sad. They also wish for more children. The children, as we are still called, are ready to take over whenever they are ready. We don't push, we know our parents will step aside when they're ready " he stated. " What, what is wrong ? " Both my brother and his mate turned up frantic. His mother went straight to him fussing over him. He looked at me with a see look, most likely the comment of them still being called the children. I hid my laughter at his forced patient face. " Mum, I am fine, Aunt Natassa wanted father is all " he stated. They both turned to look at me. Then back to Nate. " Nate that is to be used in emergencies, not someone wanting a chat " Arakas stated like he was chiding a child. " Yea, well, Aunt Natassa looked to be freaking out. You should be here while all this is going off anyway. I know you enjoy the quiet now, but your family need you here " he challenged his father. Leianna looked at both of them and then sighed shaking her head, like she was used to the alpha male energy they both gave off. " He is right, it's fine, come on. Let us leave your dad and aunt" he said to Nate, and then they both disappeared. Arakas sighed and turned to look at me. " I see too much of myself in him" he stated. " I only see your good qualities in him" I said. He looks at me, his eyes wary. We hadn't really been getting off to the best of starts, me being back. " I am sorry for the other day, I didn't mean to hurt you " I told him. He shoves his hands in his pockets and shakes his head" It's fine, it is hard to still see you here. You are apart of a past. I am now proud of Natassa. I guess I saw a look I had not seen for a long time come from you" he stated. I frowned" What look was that ? " I asked, genuinely confused. " Disappointment, all I did was disappoint you back then, or feel like I was lacking compared to you " he admiteed. I felt a stab of pain in my chest "Arakas I . . " But his hand went up to stop me. He shook his head. " It is fine Natassa, I most likely deserved it back then. But now I am different. You just need to see that. Now, what is it you needed me for ? " He asked. I took in a shaky breath and blew it out, one thing was Chelsea and I were now different. Now I knew human emotions and insecurities, and now I knew fear and anxiety. I could show a good game. I may have all the knowledge now. But I was petrified. I felt my eyes fill up with water and Arakas's brows creased as he spotted it. " I need . . I need my brother Arakas, I keep seeing all these different horrendous outcomes. I see how they all look at me like I am their savor, that I will lead them. But I am scared " I admitted as a sob left my body. Arakas paused, he looked unsure and not really aware of how to deal with this. Back then, Natassa would never have broken down, but this wasn't Natassa, this was Chelsea. And Chelsea relied on those she loved, and I felt Natassa's love for her brother, so I trusted that. He moved quickly and the next thing I was engulfed in his arms " My sweet sister, bonding with a human has sure changed you too. It's OK you're safe here, but out there you can not show this fear. Uncle will eat you alive if you do. Let it all out with me, you are safe with me " he murmured into my hair as I gripped him tightly. I let all the insecurities I felt from Chelsea out. " Chelsea ? " I heard a familiar male voice behind me. I looked to see my father, Davax. He looked at me worried. " She is fine , just those pesky human emotions he has in her " Arakas laughed , which made me smile. " I have had a vision , the first monster to come will be his pet snake " I tell them , Arakas draws in a breath , he knows of all of his monsters he has met them. His snake was no ordinary snake, it was a huge, massive cobra. " Vises " Arakas whispered, and I nodded for its name. Vises back then had never lost a fight, a snake with intelligence was one of his many pets.
